posted a message on Using a 40" HDTV instead of a Monitor for Gaming. Good or bad?
I have played BF3 on a 56" TV with my mouse and keyboard without issue (HDMI to HDMI). Setting choices are all you need for a "monitor" of that size.

I love this pack so much. I have never played Junk Jack, but it is simple and clean. I made a preview video of the blocks if anyone needs more visuals before downloading. I recommend a download either way =P.

posted a message on Better/Smarter Water to stair interaction
I was testing out new stuff with the 12w08a snapshot, and I thought of some really cool stuff that could be made, BUT it is missing the proper water interaction.

So Water currently doesn't flow correctly in my opinion with Stairs/half slab, and I believe a few other blocks as well like fences. Below are two screenshots of how water flows now.

With how the water flows you can see it will not touch the bottom of the "blocks" it is on. If water was more "finite" I believe you could do a lot of things. I will post two more screenshots of "pipes" that could be used with better water interaction. These are only two things that better water/block interaction could use.

Hopefully others like the idea. With all of the new stuff coming into the game I think the water should be looked at. Thank you.

posted a message on Windows 7
You CAN use an upgrade disk to install Windows 7, BUT you need to have an XP install disk to use on the system first. I don't know the legality of this, but if you have only used it on one machine I believe it falls under the rule of three if they still use it.

    Quote from Xaanos

    That is minimum.

The 4670 has 320 stream processors and is the vliw5 arch like the 7470m

Even at a fairly low res it gets unplayable frames at the lowest settings. Granted laptops might have lower res but the 7470 has half the stream processors as the 4670.

The card I tested BF3 on had 32 pipelines. He will have no issues with the game.

I personally test a range of GFX cards for games as I have multiple cards lying around. I have played BF3 at High 1024x768 with a card 3-4 grades below yours with slightly worse clocks. For the most part you will play it at 40-50 Fps. The game is enjoyable at 30+ in my opinion. The only issues with it are Origin, and Battlelog.

Ive heard BF3 is a very intensive game which prompted me to ask this question (I know the vid card isnt the greatest.. But will BF3 need a powerful video card?)

The clocks on your card will run the game decently at the resolution you described. Most people who have issues with it have been having issues with their CPU. 2.2 with a 3.1 TB is plenty for BF3.

Can you run it is very inaccurate sadly to say. It doesn't take in most of the specifications that matter when it scans.

You should be able to run it on about medium-high settings.

ok thats sounds fine also... besides what i have listed is there anything else video ram effects?

No, video RAM doesn't really come into play until you are using high end cards for Ultra settings in the newest games. Even then I use a 1 GB card myself. Over 1 GB is really overkill, gaming is more based on the actual specifications not a front line number =P, but that is a great way to get quick sales. "Bigger is better so we will buy this".

ok thats sound great :biggrin.gif: does the amount of video ram i have affect me watching HD videos or even video editing?

Watching video, no. When editing video you would shave maybe one minute off rendering times, but to be honest one minute per render is not worth 75 dollars in my opinion.

i dont plan to record fallout so would they be able to run New Vegas on decent or good settings?

With the clocks I saw on the 7470 you should be able to run New Vegas on max settings. Possibly needing to drop one or two view distances down a little bit, but you shouldn't have any issues.
