Is Fangride no longer releasing reviews?

I just ask as my map "Lord of Bloodycross" was accepted for review almost six months ago, and it has since been listed as "finished" under Fangride's to-do list for three or four months now :P.

Does that "finished" indicate that the review has been completed, or simply that the map playthrough has been done?

    Quote from UltimaN3rd

Hey man, it's me UltimaN3rd, you watched my YouTube videos of my friends Sean and Trent and I play through Convenience 1.

Sorry, but this map was a huge let-down. It felt like most of the map was just copy-pasted from Convenience 1, excepting the very beginning and a little toward the end. This map to me (and my 3 friends Trent, Sean and Cole agree) was just an intro, then part of the first map copied over, then just as it started to get original and fun to play, you got tired of map-making and slapped on "The End".
Thanks for making the map but it just felt like you didn't put any effort in at all, and it didn't have anything on Convenience 1.

Nonetheless, we made a series of YouTube videos. My first video will be up soon, and they'll all be up in about 16 hours.

LOL, sorry for the confusion here.

The map you previously played (Lord of Bloodycross) was actually released after this map - here's a basic run-down of the three adventure maps that I have released to-date, and how the over-arching plot fits together:

1st: [CONVENIENCE] The Curse of Bloodycross Castle
2nd: [CONVENIENCE] Return to Bloodycross Castle

These two maps were intended as the first two parts of a trilogy - but they never really picked up much traction; few people played them. So, rather than release the third part of a trilogy which nobody would understand as they hadn't played the first two parts (because they may not have been as good :P ) I thought I'd release the entire story in one map, and polish it a lot more than the previous two. This resulted in:

    3rd: [CONVENIENCE] Lord of Bloodycross.

Hopefully that clarifies things - and take note anybody who was considering playing this map, I recommend simply playing LoB (the most recent) instead.

Hey man, great map. Two of my friends and I played it together, and it was a great and fun experience...

Thanks for the feedback! I'll be sure to watch your playthrough as soon as I return from work tonight. I subbed to keep abreast of all the episodes, as I do with most playthroughs ;).

I guess the reviews that are reported as being "done" aren't actually "done" then - else I'd assume they would have been posted by now.

    :P.

Can I just advise the highest high-score current has barely received half of the total scoring items scattered throughout the map? I'd have thought that somebody would have found more, by now :P.

It is a nice map from what I have seen, and that will stay my opinion about it. I do not intend to be recognized for the review, I am simply just giving feedback.

    Have a good day. :D

No problem, any feedback is good feedback!

Whilst the specific issues you experienced are so far only related to yourself, if others report similar occurances then I'll know a trend is forming, so your feedback would in that instance contribute to a correction of the map on my part.

In that particular hypothetical situation, anyway :P.

I might keep going with this. Also, armanon you need to tell me what to do in the lord of the Bloody Cross.

What do you mean, "what to do?" Are you stuck? None of the challenges should be insurmoutable :P.

Pros: Well built narrative. The scenery around the map was nice. The design of the rooms and buildings were unique. Especially the crypt. Some pretty tough challenges, including the water/spider infested cave.

Cons: When exiting the Crypt into the one room with minecraft tracks and buttons, we had absolutely no idea what to do. Could not get the texture pack to work for either of us. (There might not be anything necessarily wrong with it, we might have installed it wrong.)

Improvements: Try to light the area of the Fire Temple up more. Whenever I entered through the piston door, there was a creeper that blew up the piston door itself, causing me to fall into the void. :(

Fixes: We played this on 1.2.4 on our Hamachi server and it worked fine. We finished Act I and stopped playing. We went to go finish the map but there was an update to 1.2.5 and the Minecraft_Server.exe failed to convert it. (Yes I downloaded the latest version for it also). Later, I went to continue where we left off in Single Player, and as it popped me into the world, all I could see was my Health, Hunger, and Hotbar. Everything else was solid black and I could not move and it crashed my client. (Multiple Times)

Note: We were not able to finish to map due to issues with Minecraft not being nice with converting.

    Final Rating: 7/10
Comment: Sorry for the delay of the review. Also note that just because we couldn't continue on with the map, that doesn't mean you should get penalized for the issues that Minecraft was having on it. Seeing as we enjoyed the beginning of the map, the rest of it shouldn't be much different.

You saw less than a third of the map, so I don't think I'll be able to recognise your scoring in my forum thread, sorry.

I understand that it certainly wasn't your intent to be forced to stop playing the map, and I understand that you haven't penalised it in any way for that - but you didn't experience the majority of the content, challenges, story, scenery, etc. Playing on Hamachi you would also have likely come across issues later on in the map when you had to enter the Nether - unless you had deliberately separately loaded the Nether files, as is required with that mod. I pointed out this Hamachi concern in both the forum thread and the readme, also.

Did you, by any chance, try loading up the map on a default server (I ask, not knowing if it's even possible after playing it with Hamachi, I have little experience with it :P). The other possibility is a discrepancy between the game update and a lack of Hamachi update? I'm not sure.

I am also interested in discovering why the texture pack wouldn't work - all you need to do is place the zip file in your Minecraft textures folder and then select it from the list in-game. Should be fairly simple :/.

The clue to the crypt station scene is in it's related notes (find the combination). It's a two-step combination, so it shouldn't take too long to discover. It's not really a combination lock in the traditional sense, anyway.

Creepers are certainly a random hazard, in almost any redstone-equipped adventure map. I would suggest that you use a mod designed to avoid there damages, if you are too concerned. Realistically though, you're the first person who has mentioned a creeper spawning in that particular room, so I don't consider that area to be too much of an issue. Additionally, one of the objectives of that room is to show off the radical change when the walls become lava (moving from darkness to a hazardous brightness), and lighting up the room will break that effect. As mentioned, you are the first I know of to suffer there, so it hasn't really been an issue up til now, so I won't worry about it unless I get a drastically increased number of people with similar issues.

Just thought I'd check up to make sure the review for my map, "Lord of Bloodycross" hasn't been forgotten?

Not that I'd expect it to be, but I can always make sure :P.
