I have no idea who any of you are. I read through much of the posts on here. As an outside opinion, I see a group of people taking advantage of a server's owner not being there(due to reasonable conditions) and trying to get him to give up to take the server for yourselves... Well... I must say, ENOUGH! It is NOT your server, nor is he your slave. If he isn't active, even if it's not his choice, you do not have the right to boss him around! SecretAgentGuy has full rights to not be there. If you don't like what he's doing, by all means LEAVE! Even as I'm typing this you are probably coming up with new ways to boss him around. I will not be replying to ANY of you posts, so it's no good yelling at me. I SAY GOOD DAY TO YOU!

    Lol.

this is what i have been saying for a while now and secret you did not respond to the most important parts of this at all.

    1. your most recent forum posts are applications to other servers. Either forfeit all other projects and get back on the server or just leave.
    2. We aren't your slaves to do all the work for you; just sitting on your 'throne' casting commands. You do literally nothing to help the server go forward.

also as for your post of not knowing who your team is... July 29, 2011, 04:42:44 AM was the last time you logged into the forum which is 49 days ago. as far as im concerned u have not been part of under-earth since then. if you have you would see all the different sections of the forum stating who the builders are and what they were working on.

as far as this forum goes im done posting here. this forum should have been used to recruit people to the server. not for a ***** fest. or to listen how great things where or how the server is not what you want or how you want it. also your post to DevinXIII earlier today about ask to apply for the white-list shows how out of touch with the server you are. the white list has not been on in about 2 months. the server has been on a grey list.

also since its my last post in this thread.

under-earth now has 2 city's open sand stock and gnac. there is a heavy rp city going to be open soon. also an event rp city open soon as 1.8 is applied to the server. there is another city that's in the planning stages as well. as far as the economy issues we are now looking for traders and the rich class is now finished and will be implemented in 1.8.

as far as 1.8 progress the server is still not ready to migrate. im waiting on an official bukkit release to start converting everything over. eta is about 1 week.

    UE 1.8 is out!

Though you told me my responding would take no effect, I am compelled to respond. Those are deep words you've said, and I do understand where you are coming from. However, I must rebut, because even though I agree partially with what you are saying I do not wholly agree.

No, I do not want to just be a figurehead. No, I am not trying to make you my servants to design UnderEarth as I please and not pitch in whatsoever. You may think I am the sorest, most worthless piece of trash existent, but you must put yourself in my shoes. I've put my heart into this server for, what, half a year now? When I first started I had this artistic dream of what UnderEarth could be, of what it would feel and look like. I had an excellent team of friends. Small, yes, but excellent non the less.

I was so happy in those early two months. It was just me, SniperBrob, Narolas, islanderon... initially, anyway. We were all friends, we had fun creating UnderEarth together, and things looked bright. UnderEarth was on it's path to becoming what I dreamed it would be.

I am an artist at heart, and I am a perfectionist as well. This is a heart-wrenchingly terrible combination. I want everything so perfect that I can't stand it when something is even the slightest bit off...

...Skip to now. Even before I stopped regularly playing on the server, (School started; what am I supposed to do, skip school to play Minecraft and make sure everyone on UnderEarth is happy?) my team stopped really listening to me. It happened gradually, and I don't want to point any fingers and make anyone feel bad, I truly do just want to state my feelings on this situation.

Nearly every person, every good friend I started this server with? Gone. I don't even know who is even on the development team anymore, because I am not told when we've recruited someone. Again, not pointing fingers. Losing my friends cuts into my enjoyment of developing UnderEarth considerably, and thus I am on the server less and less.

And because there are so many people on the development team I cannot keep track of, I have no way of knowing whether or not my artistic vision will be realized, because I cannot manage people I do not know exist. Again, take this from my point of view.

Here I am, my friends are gone and are replaced by people I don't know, I have no way of knowing whether or not UnderEarth will become what I originally dreamt it to be, no one is listening to me nor am I told what is going on in the server's development, and my own team is incredibly angry at me and wonders why oh why I am simply not on the server.

It is out of a loss of hope. It's not that I'm giving up; I've said countless times I just won't, not on this sort of project. The problem is, I've lost momentum. In the past when my team had lost all hope, I'd kept going. Now I've lost hope and my team keeps going.

All I'm asking is this; look at this from my point of view, a perfectionist artist's point of view. I came up with the idea for UnderEarth a long time ago, and I wrote it out. It kills me on the inside, being an artist, and having everyone forget that I am the person that came up with UnderEarth. Rather, I'm a parasitic dictator that wants everyone to conform to my whims and desires. It hurts me.

In closing, I want to say that I do not want to fight with any of you. My philosophy is this; like sucks enough, why can't we act rationally and think before we do what we do to people?

    Thankyou.

I mean not to hurt you; but to show you the truth.

No matter how large of a wall of text you write, it doesn't change the fact of inactivity.

posted a message on UnderEarth: The Last Bastion of Humanity [Open Beta/NO LONGER RUNNING]
September 13th; The server has admittedly been completely out of my hands for the past month or so. I have no control how anything goes, and I have no leverage to get anyone to listen to me or have things changed to be how I originally envisioned them to be. I'm very frustrated, but I just hope that in the end I can get this mess sorted out and, though I've almost completely lost my original team of friends that I loved so much, have UnderEarth turn out to be the epic world that I dreamed it would be. And who knows, maybe my friends will come back when they see how far UnderEarth has come and how sucessful it has been. For now though, everything is in bad shape. But I won't give up; UnderEarth has been through so many rough times before, so frequently and in such severity, that I know it'll get through this and come out even stronger than before.

SecretAgentGuy; I hate to admit it, but your time is up. You no longer possess the skills or abilities to stay leader of UnderEarth for much longer. By lack of skills and abilities; I mean the skill and ability to stay active on the server. You are barely ever on; you have absolutely no effect on what happens on the server whatsoever overall. It's as if you only want to be leader of UnderEarth for the title and glory.

We aren't your slaves to do all the work for you; just sitting on your 'throne' casting commands. You do literally nothing to help the server go forward. And even worse; your most recent forum posts are applications to other servers. Either forfeit all other projects and get back on the server or just leave. Stop complaining about 'not having any control over the server anymore' and it 'going the wrong direction'. If anyone's fault; its yours. To run a server; you have to be on the server. Which you aren't. Ever. And whenever someone calls you out on this you log in for a few minutes and just leave again. It's almost just insulting all our hard work.

I don't want you to reply to this. What you say doesn't matter at all. It's what you do that matters. And lately; you haven't done anything at all since the opening of the server. Being active doesn't mean a few minutes a week. It doesn't mean a half an hour on the weekend early in the morning. Activity means being on every single day to help and grow the server. As long as possible every day all week, as much as you can. And if what you're giving is all you can give; I don't think you're up to being the 'leader' of a server.

Hello, my name is Neo. I am in desperate need of contestants, builders, and redstone electricians for my Hunger Games series in Minecraft. Below are the slots that are available:

    CREW

    Director/Gamemaker/Announcer: Neolitho
    Camera Men (5 needed): Neolitho;
    Builders (5 needed):
    Redstone Electricians (3 needed):
    Skin Makers/Other (2 needed):

    CAST

    Boy Tribute (District 1):
    Girl Tribute (District 1):

    Boy Tribute (District 2):
    Girl Tribute (District 2):

    Boy Tribute (District 3):
    Girl Tribute (District 3):

    Boy Tribute (District 4):
    Girl Tribute (District 4):

    Boy Tribute (District 5):

    Boy Tribute (District 8):
    Girl Tribute (District 8):

    Boy Tribute (District 9):
    Girl Tribute (District 9):

    Boy Tribute (District 10):
    Girl Tribute (District 10):

    Boy Tribute (District 11):
    Girl Tribute (District 11):

    Boy Tribute (District 12):
    Girl Tribute (District 12):

Now, here are some rules regarding these roles:

    I. Crew Members cannot participate in the cast, and visa-versa.

II. Camera Men are to record individual action across the map, so that the viewer can know what is going on in several places at once. They then send the .avi files via email to Neo for use in the video. Fraps is required.

III. Tributes are not allowed to dig underground during the competition, and they are also not allowed to punch trees, instead they will use an axe given to them at the start to build structures of their liking above ground.

IV. Builders are responsible for building the map, and must work in tandem with the redstone electricians. Builders are responsible for the terrain to look as realistic as possible.

    V. Redstone electricians design pitfalls, fire-starting devices and other forms of traps integrated into the landscape. These traps must be able to be remotely controlled or accidentally triggered by contestants (i.e. a landmine).

VI. Skin Makers will produce skins for the contestants and will help with other work that needs to be done.

VII. Once you apply for a role or crew position, Neo will either decline or accept your application and will add you on the Minecraft Forums. Builders and Electricians will be given the IP to the server and whitelisted immediately, for they need to start working on the map.

VIII. Other cast members should stay friends with Neo on the Minecraft Forums and wait for their name to be called to be given the IP and whitelisted. Contestants will be the last called on.

Finally, we have a crew member/cast application for you to fill out if you would like to join:

    IGN:
Age, (12 or above is preferred):
    Role/Position:
Why you would be good for this role:

Thank you for reading and thank you for your time.

    ~Neo

    IGN:
Age, (12 or above is preferred): 13
Role/Position: Terraformer (I am good with worldguard/voxelsniperish things) or redstone builder (I have a good knowledge of redstone). Or a tribute.
Why you would be good for this role: I am extremely active and I love terraforming and/or making redstone machines. I also loved the Hunger Games series, it's one of my favorite books of all time. I do believe I could add to the team with my skills, plus I have a skype.

As for the tribute bit; I am a fair PvPer and an excellent roleplayer who can follow realistic rules well. I wouldn't care which district I would represent.

Thankyou very much, and sorry if I seem like a huge asshole. I deserve everything you are saying, guys. However, I don't want you to just tell me what I'm doing wrong; I need you to help me become... I dunno, less stupid. xD

Tell me what I can do to fix things. If you can't think of how I can fix my shortcomings, I will however just accept a list of what I'm not doing right and I'll come up with it myself.

Step 1: Be MUCH more active on the server. (At LEAST a half an hour per day on weekdays, more on the weekends).
Step 2: Be MUCH more active on forum.theunderearth.com

    There you go.

    Also;
It appears I've been demoted temporarily to homeless and will likely have my admin rank stripped for a bit (Don't rage secret! It's my fault for carelessness!).

    EDIT: I have been re-admined.

posted a message on Thinking of starting a Shooter MMORPG Project
    Quote from SecretAgentGuy

I'm sick of all the crappy, generic fantasy-themed bull that is spewed across my screen when I search "MMORPG". I'm sick of it. Can't anyone make anything original? Nope, guess not. I suppose it's up to me, then.

I won't lie, I'm naive. I may sound overly confident that I can make a better game than pretty much anyone, but honestly I just think that my ideas are creative, or at least mildly different. I don't know much about coding or designing a game per se, but I know what goes into it.

Most ambitious MMORPG projects fail due to being overly ambitious in that they just take so long to make, and thusly the development team gets bored with the lack of progress, falls apart, and the game follows. Another thing I'll admit... I'm young. REALLY young. I'm Thirteen years old, and I've dreamed of making my own video games since I was six. Heh, haven't we all? No? Well, still, you have to admit making a game would be sweet, especially an MMO.

Let me get to the point.

I don't really have any skills helpful to the actual production of the game. That being, I can't code, nor do modeling, nor do I really know anything about technology, much less designing a game, much much less designing an MMORPG.

Don't get me wrong, I'm good for something. Why else would I ask for help on the Minecraft forums for creating a game? No one would take me seriously at all if I said I couldn't do anything other than make up a title for a game and choose a genre; anyone can do that. I can draw relatively well with a drawing program (Maybe I can't make anything that professional looking, but I could draw up concept art), and I can manage projects and organizations relatively well. But those aren't great skills, are they? No, what I offer anyone who wants to begin an MMORPG project with me is this:

I can develop story, setting, and concept ideas extremely well. Writing and coming up with ideas is my greatest strength, and my most convincing argument for my worth. Now, maybe I don't have a convincing way to describe why I'm a great writer and story artist, so let me just give you an example.

I have convinced many people over my age by multiple years in the past to help me with projects on online games, my most recent being my Minecraft Survival Server "UnderEarth". Not only do I obviously write in a persuasive manner because I have convinced people years over my age, some with coding experience to help me, but I believe I also have very good story ideas because many people have come to me on this recent project and told me how interesting and original my plotline and setting ideas were.

So there is some potential proof of my writing talents, but now, let me tell you why this is a good thing for developing an MMORPG.

People love creative, innovative, never-before-done stuff the best. Sure, copying some other guy's thing works up to a point, and only then in relative success, but doing something new and interesting always brings in the most people. If I can in fact come up with new and exciting ideas and concepts for a game, not only can I bring in a large crowd of people, but consider this:

It takes ideas to make a game anyway! You obviously cannot finish a game without having put out many ideas for how the gameplay mechanics work and defining how the game functions and what players can do, so with a good ideas artist, you can go very, very far in game development.

Now, in closing, you must be wondering why I think that I can possibly start an MMORPG project off by recruiting on the Minecraft Forums. Well, why not? Many Minecraftgoers are of the mature and (somewhat) intelligent age of 16 - 20, and a considerably large amount have coding and technological experience of some kind, so... I must say, this is my best bet.

I know, it seems absurd, crazy, and overly-ambitious to think that I can possibly find someone that knows something about video game design on the Minecraft Forums. But doing absurd, crazy, overly-ambitious stuff is what can get great things started. Wish me luck... or even join me! Who knows? Maybe this craziness could work.

If you are knowledgeable in coding, modeling, designing games, creating and managing websites, starting game development, or are proficient in some other sort of technological skill useful to creating an MMORPG, please apply here on the topic with a summary of what you can do!

I've read that C++ is a more all-around useful scripting language for making games and C# is a bit more restricted, so I would prefer that I find someone proficient or excellent in C++.

My personal favorite coding language is Scheme, but for a PC MMORPG your best bet would be using a form of C or Java. Also, by 'Shooter MMORPG' I think you mean MMOFPS.

Mac OS and iOS are coded in Objective C, Windows are programmed in C, C++, and C#, most MMORPGs are coded in varients of C (Such as Rift and WoW, but EVE Online I think was done in Python, which is another one of my favorites). The game engine for Oblivion, Fallout 3, and Fallout New Vegas was in C and/or C++. So there is no best choice for the job, though C and related programming languages are the most commonly used (That means C, C++, C#, or Objective C. Most programming languages, including Java, are C-based).

You also don't necessarily have to have an entire game programmed in a single language.

Now, I have always loved MMORPGs and the Fallout franchise. What do you get when you combine the two...?

    Shooter MMORPG!

An MMORPG based on the Bethesda HUD and playstyle for their games like Fallout: 3 and Oblivion would be successful in my opinion.

A post-apocalyptic game with a twist is probably your best bet for anything. A spin-off of UnderEarth surface-life anyone...?
