I'm reading what he said again and I'm face-palming myself because of what I said.

This is why I shouldn't be on the forums with every little sleep.

I don't think you understand what compile means.

I don't think minecarts can ever use the new rails. The new rails use their own system of connecting trans to tracks which is incompatible with vanilla.

If minecarts weren't so much of a hack in MC then we could have shot

Just a heads up, coders think in a different way to most people.

Because we don't have unlimited resources or time.

In the other words; by the time a 1.8 version is working let alone public, you'll be asking for a 1.9 version, trust me, I've seen too many people make the same mistake.

    Any update for 1.7.10? :)

Literally the post above yours has the most up to date info on 1.7.10.

You are running Minecraft version 1.7.10, you need to run 1.6.4 to use that version of Traincraft

Clearly almost no one here really knows the state of the code or even understands just how long it's going to take to get any version working.

Here's the long and short of it. It's not 1 month at most, think more along the lines of 4-8 months depending on how many people work together BUT by the time a working version of traincraft is available, all the big mods will already be on 1.8 and support for 1.7.10 dropped.

Here's the thing, the code base for traincraft is old and I mean REALLY old, every system TC has ever used has changed at least once and after a while that creates a lot of junk code. Mods are written differently now compared to when TC started, what that means is that the entire structure of the code is not as optimal as it could be.

This requires TC be re-written, that way, all the new methods can be utilized to deliver a version of TC that doesn't take months to find and fix tiny bugs, features can be implemented faster, cleaner and with less new bugs.

One thing I would like to point out is that, back-porting is possible and most of the time results in a better product on the new version while still providing legacy support.

TC has been lagging behind because people wanted the main development to be on whatever the hottest MC version was, not realising that this sort of development results in a non-stable code base which is the worst thing in any sort of public release project.

I hope people will see that simply complaining will get you no where fast. Instead the people who can code, should code. The people who can do artwork, should make artwork. People who can organise people, should work together to organise the work and people. People who can't do these things can report bugs, get coffee, offer constructive feedback. People who can't do any of these things can wait, watch and not contribute to the endless negativity that has been on this thread as of late.

This how any project should be run, it's even more important with open-source projects like TC. We must work together otherwise nothing will happen and TC will die.

There is so much shite being flung around here atm.

Can we all settle down, please.

As much as I'd love to hear more about how mods don't affect performance and how there isn't anything on 1.9 compared to 1.7 even though there is something like 2-3 years between them but this isn't the place so lets take that else-where on the forum.

Now instead of name calling, shouting, complaining, so-on can we please have some constructive discussion. That would be swell.

The license is the biggest obstacle preventing a 1:1 port by seasoned developers. Take a look at the patreon page which is still tied into the current licence. You do the work of porting and supporting, he distributes your work and gets paid for it. Good deal right? https://www.patreon.com/Mrbrutal?ty=h

Ok, weren't sure if you were being serious or not.
