I am planning on doing a series of aztec style temples underground about this big.. then covering them with water. Imagine going through a underwater passage with glass walls and seeing behemoth sized temples in the ocean..
I used to play on normal, but then My game time went like this:
1) Daylight! Go out and build new cool house.
2) Just barely dodged a creeper, going to need to find a pig to heal.
3) Found a couple pigs, got my food to heal.
4) Back to building... awww... its getting dark.
5) go underground and dig till sun up..
I barely got anything done, it wasnt survival, it was just annoying.
Get SDK's gun mod, make an epic shooting adventure, ALL zombies, and get a shotgun, and go all zombie-slaying. It'll give you a good month of work to do.
This is basically the end plan for my map.
1) Build huge town.
2) Make a path to follow that takes you through the town.
3) Cover town in layers of clouds so it is constantly night time.
4) Build a TNT system through out the entire town
4) Back up save.
5) Turn game to hard.
6) Escape from Innsmouth.
7) Flip kill switch and blow it all to hell.
Why go through all the levels in TMNT 2: The Arcade Game with only 2 lives when you can punch in the code B A B A UP DOWN B A LEFT RIGHT B A START and skip right to the last level with 9 lives?
Because getting there is fun. The destination isn't always the purpose in life. You have to admit, finding natural diamonds is much better than typing "/give diamond". You get that little bit of an adrenaline surge when you stumble upon "OMG DIAMONDS!" and even more when you find "OMFG A FRIGGIN DUNGEON!!"
Now, if you just want to make something cool, like a redstone device, and just want to see if you can do it while the idea is still fresh in your head, then yeah I do that too and cheat in some materials, but I only do that on a separate world dedicated to cheating all I want. I never cheat in my main worlds.
You see now?
But ultimately, it's your game, it's your fun. You define it.
But when OMG DIAMONDS turns to diamons, yay.. dig dig dig.. thats when you should prolly reconsider the point of the game. It is survial mode, once you have survived you have won.. end game is creative mode with things trying to kill you. :biggrin.gif:
Oh and peaceful mode... I did half my map in normal, the other half in peaceful because it got F'N annoying. I intend to switch to hard mode once my city is all set, and for my next project.. but I was wasting too much time hiding at night, and rebuilding, and running back... I have about 3 hours of play time every night, and I set specific goals for those three hours.
Well I guess now somebody finally works something in the office that he is out. I am sorry but getting those 10 million $ was the best he could get as he seems to be pretty much a lazy **** and he would go down being employed by someone else. I'm sorry, vacation in december and now two weeks again, how long does a 60th birthday last ? Anyway... But the truth is, notch is not doing enough work for his company to stay afloat. He might be able to ride minecraft's profits for a bit, but if he keeps working at this pace, he'll be bankrupt in a few years.
Huge profit, small staff, little over head.. even if he walks away, he can prolly maintain what he has now for the next 20 years. Its not a normal business where you have supply issues, he has unlimited supply of his game.
As far as having employees like him, yeah they wouldnt last long, but imagine having a manager like him... I am leaving for 2 weeks, have fun in the office, dont work too hard. :tongue.gif:
Computer guide for dummies:

This... I used to build my own when I didnt have the money, or repair broken ones (its funny how many people want to toss a computer just because it wont boot.) Now I just buy one about every 2-3 years.
Mow lawns.. $20 a lawn ($10 Front/$10 Back) do 5 a week, for a month, and you should have enough to get a decent system. I have a fulltime job, and I still think about doing this. Except now its fix my internet, $20 bucks.

I've started falling asleep when I go to farm a full inventory of sand. I dont mind mining, I find it hella fun when I knock away one block from my main passage and find a vein of diamod.. But when I am falling out of my chair because I've been looking at a wall of sand for the past 45 minutes, I get really tempted to use an editor.
want a costal town, and kinda chose a bad location, so I have decided to edit myself in a ocean. No possible way for me to digg all that out in my life time :smile.gif:
Portable Shadow.. combine and and it makes a cube with NO GRAPHICthat you can walk through, but it reduces light penetration by like 1 or two. Inventory item would be coal graphic.
I want to build dark clouds over my city, and I think this would work perfectly :biggrin.gif:

It's hard to drown in the Ankh, but easy to suffocate. After my current project, I'd love to help. Minecraft always reminded me of Discworld. Use the editor to make the hub and the rim. Lol :smile.gif:
I use wood or cobble steps and have them meet in the middle. This makes a nice sharp roof, problem is if you miss place a block you have to hack at it for ever to remove it.
The other roof type is half steps, which doesnt look as good. Also, consider that some buildings really just have a flat roof filled with gravel. Decide what time period and location you want your world to be in, then google archetecture from that period.

Once I have the streets laid out, I build houses or facades and move on. I kinda have ADD with it because there is so much to work on and so many materials I need to harvest.. I am making a hotel out of sand stone and cobble. A Light house, 3-4 more churches, a ton of small houses, a map sized tunnel system.. So for all of those I just eye ball it and then try for a minor degree of realism.
