The idea of this mod is amazing, but I'm having trouble making it work on a MCPC server. The NEI integration bit works, but none of the commands are recognized and the other keybind doesn't work either.

posted a message on Greg's Lighting 1.11.2 for Minecraft 1.7.10
Run into a problem with upgrading this awesome mod. We were running 1.8.1-7 and are looking to upgrade the various mods on the server. Setup 1.8.4 and when we login all the floodlights have changed their displayed orientation. The lighting itself still beams in the original direction, but the floodlight block itself is pointing in some default direction.

Any solution to this, or just replace the lights?

Thanks again for a great mod.

Heh, ok the blocks do actually work. Dunno what I was doing wrong yesterday. It still reports that RP2 is not installed but the ACT works which is what I wanted. Maybe the retrievulator but haven't tested that. In any case, thanks fabricator77, good work to tide us over during the holidays.

Well I got his download to work by deleting the Mod_Shared folder in Immibis Core as it appeared to be duplicated. However, it then did not detect RP on startup, so none of the Tubestuff blocks were functional. Maybe some other way to remove the duplicate and have it work.

So you want this to be sort of a universal energy API, but yet absolutely rule out the usage of the mod in a mod pack? Don't see how those too aims mesh. Either you want absolute control, or you want it to be adopted and used my lots of mods. Which is it?

Anyone having an issue with running ruins on a server. I get console messages repeating of:

Ruins mod determines World Save Dir to be at: .\saves\world

This is not the world folder and it appears that no ruins are being generated. I had it working so I'm not sure what's changed other than adding Twilight Forest. This is a brand new world, deleted the world folder entirely and restarted server.

posted a message on need to install mods without fuking up my comp.
Actually the short version of the instructions should be:

    - Read the instructions for the mod and follow them.

Some mods go into the minecraft.jar. Modloader type don't.

More complex mods have other folders (Mo Creatures, Millenaire) that need to be dropped into .minecraft.

So the take away is, READ THE INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE MOD (particularly prerequisites) and follow them!

posted a message on How many copies of Minecraft do you have?
I don't mean accounts, I mean separate installs of the game.

I love starting new worlds, checking out mods and texture packs and all that stuff. However, I associate each world I create with a particular version of Minecraft, or set of mods or a particular texture pack. So each time a new version of Minecraft comes out, or a mod (or set of mods) that I want to try out, I move my whole .minecraft folder into a new folder that describes what is particular about it (eg. MC 1.9pre5 No Mods). I setup a batch file so I can run that particular version (just point the appdata variable to the containing folder and run the minecraft launcher) and add a shortcut to that batch file to my every growing collection. Then I copy my pristine copy of MC to my 'main' folder and proceed to mod it any way I see fit and start a new world.

My main Minecraft install sits in a dropbox folder so I can play it from any machine. The actual original appdata\.minecraft I leave pristine for the latest release version (so it's an unmodded 1.0 right now). I also have one setup for the weekly builds. Each world I've spent some time in also get their own install with their mod set and texture pack (I tend to combine several texture packs together to get one that I really like).

With ones I haven't played in awhile, I just archive the important bits. Usually just the minecraft.jar and the save folder with the texture pack if it's important. It's pretty easy to set these up if I decide I need to remember what my 1.4 favorite world was like.

So in all I currently have 11 worlds ready to go with shortcuts, plus another 15 or so archived back to some late alpha versions.

I like it because it's easier than juggling multiple .jar files, different saves, texture packs and the other cruft that comes with messing around with Minecraft. Each world is exactly as I left it, and I can always quickly fire up a new one without messing up an old world.

How about anyone else? Do you do something similar?

Took the challenge used a fly mod and no more and found a small island with one tree so i had everything i needed for a good base. coördinates x=-1620, y=69, z=-316. I found it pretty quick and then you can set up a base as fast as normal so the challenge wasn't that hard.

Nicely done! I just liked finding a seed that dumped you in the ocean and thought others would have a laugh.

    Pro Tip:
    1. Get the netherwart
    2. Replant right next to your original portal
    3. ...
    4. Profit.

Well I wanted the blaze spawner too. It also just kind of amused me to build the railway. In truth I'm sure if I fired up Minecraft X-Ray it would happily show me two dozen fortresses that I missed, but that wouldn't be any fun would it?

posted a message on How far away is your Netherfortress?
In my previous world, I had a Netherfortress located not 20 blocks away from my portal. It had both Netherwart and a Blaze spawner. I was properly spoiled.

I started a new hardcore mode world, and this time it was a different story....

I very carefully scoured the area around my portal, out to about 500 blocks and found exactly one Netherfortress. It had no Netherwart (lava got it) nor a Blaze spawner. I was not happy.

Finally just decided I would hunt and hunt until I found a Netherfortress with what I needed. I went to the Nether with enough Obsidian so I could build another portal back once I found my target. I headed in roughly one general direction, strafing left and right to check out hopeful sites. After several hours and 3 useless Netherfortresses (damn you lava!!!) I finally found one. It was perfect, had a nice location, Blaze spawner, a little bit of Netherwart (lava only ate one side for a change). Ya! All set for potion magic.

Built a portal in the fortress and jump back to the overworld. Check F3.... oh my god, I'm 13000 blocks away from 0,0 which means I think I'm about 14000 blocks from my home base. Hmmm, not going to jog that and being Hardcore mode there is no suicide subway to get home.

Go back to Nether. The journey to get here from the original portal was really perilous. Lots of building bridges across huge lava lakes while praying the Ghasts stay away until I'm on the opposite shore. Also realized that I would want to go back and forth between my home base and this fortress. What to do?

I decided I would just tunnel all the way back to my original portal. I've learned from previous worlds that unlike the Overworld, the really low Y numbers (<20) tend to be almost void of lava, caves or anything but endless Netherack. I obtained a huge amount of cobblestone from the Overworld via the new portal in the fortress and crafted a pile of picks, dug a whole straight down to Y15 and began digging straight north.

Long story short, I dug this ridiculously long tunnel first N and then E back to my original portal. Only broke through to lava about 5 times and was quick with the dirt so no problem. The relief when I finally dug out a block and saw cobble, knowing I was at my little fortification with the original portal was unbelievable. Also found out that my search for the fortress had worn out 3 pieces of armour (should really be some notification for that) so any battle might have been my last.

In the end, took all of my Iron, all the rail I'd scavenged from Abandoned Mines, piles of booster rails and built a railway back down the tunnel, all 1600 blocks worth (I didn't go in a straight line back to the first portal).

The trip time, one direction, in the Minecart is three minutes and 20 seconds. It actually works out pretty well, gives me a chance to make a cup of tea while the cart churns along.

Now I have the Blaze spawner all locked up, a tree farm, chicken ranch, netherwart farm and potion laboratory all setup in the fortress. It was a journey and fine adventure all around. I even managed to collect 3 Ghast tears from the search (not that I think I'll ever use them).

TL;DR My Netherfortress is 1600 blocks away from my Nether portal. Built a minecart railway to travel to and fro.

    How about you?

    Cheers!
