posted a message on The ‘No wood or stone pickaxe’ concept
    Quote from Fyeth

Personally, I quite like the idea, however removing the wood pickaxe seems quite unnecessary. As it is not a "unlimited" resource like stone, although still common. I'd say instead, nerf wood to only be able to mine stone (no longer picks) and coal. Because you "need" an axe to get wood it's more difficult to get.

I have absolutely no idea how this is suppose to make the game turn into a mmo. You best be trollin' or I just lost my faith in humanity.

While I like seeing people discussing this topic again, I must admit it’s a bit out-dated.
At the moment I’m working on a revised version of this suggestion, taking with me the things I learned posting this the first time.

It’s just a shame that at for the moment, internet access and free time is a rare commodity for me.

Having said that, I have to agree with Fyeth; I don’t see how this would turn Minecraft into a MMO.

The idea has been suggested numerous times before and shot down, mostly because it’s not necessary and most see it as a shallow attempt to get armour without any effort.

Plus, there is already a way for stone to defend yourself, it’s called a wall.

    While I would want to be able to create mine shafts, using slime however seems needlessly complicated;
I would rather just combine ladder and tracks to get something that is place able on walls.

more worthless ideas that will get deleted maybe

While the idea seems fun, I just don’t like the way it’s presented here.
It’s like a whiny plea for support, trying to tug a peoples heart strings rather than present a concept that stands on its own merits.
It would be much more appealing if the title was relevant and not so, for lack of better word “emo”.

That would make me crazy happy.

Then I’ll add it later, been bouncing some ideas and thoughts on my friends, one of them is this.
At the moment we’re buzzy with the exams, but the plan is to post some treads after I’m done. When I have more time to make sure as much is consistent, and my friend can make some pictures to illustrate the concepts.

If I wanted finite water, I'd go play Dwarf Fortress. Infinite Water is one of the things I love about Minecraft.

As I mentioned in a previous post, why not saltwater, which would be infinite. And fresh water, which would then be finite?

That way, you still can make some crazy water contraptions, but fresh water is still vital.

    Quote from Malveillant

While I adore the finiteliquid mod (mostly) and would love to see it implemented, you should avoid addressing Notch himself. Many find it irritating, and he rarely if ever reads these forums anyway. Also, many greatly dislike mods being forced onto the vanilla game.

A great many would sob over their glitch-exploiting ways being thwarted. I hate all of those people.

Though if oceans were ever extended to become content-rich biomes in their own right, the water in that mod would look far better for the game as it's somewhat see-through.

Yeah, sums it up pretty nicely.
I’m all for finite water, but this isn’t the way to gain support for it.

And what other purpose would sulphur cover?
If it’s just to make gunpowder, it’s seems rather pointless to add when you can just go out and kill creepers or ghasts.
They are really not that hard to kill, especially creepers.
Whack them once and backtrack until they stop hissing, lure them into to water to make it even easier.

Sandstone should wear away with exposure to rain and become sand.
And lastly Wood should rot with prolonged exposure to rain, water, and snow.

There have been several treads on mossy cobble stone, as for rust…meh

Can’t say I find this idea attractive, seems to be creating more hazel than fun.
I don’t want to run back and forth fixing my buildings.

If they got an ‘old’ look over time however, without being destroyed, it would be much better.
This would lead to creepy old castles and mansions, and people who want to clean it up can do so without feeling they have to else their creations disappearing.

posted a message on Saltwater VS Freshwater?? (Edible Seaweed?)
    Quote from jook2oh

But im bored with this topic, ill just collect "fresh" water for my farms/cooking... even if i dont have to, it makes me feel special :wink.gif: xDD

Shame really, it took me forever to find a previous post that focus on presenting a difference between the water we find in the ocean (salt water) and water found inland (fresh water).

While a lot of the cleaning bit was convoluted, I support the idea of saltwater not being usable for growing crops.
In fact, neutral mobs should only spawn lakes of fresh water.

I have several other thoughts on this topic, but if the OP isn’t willing to continue, I’ll create a new tread later (since they need to be updated)

There is a tread regarding how to improve combat in MC, one of which is that armour protects different areas of the body.
But from what I gather, this is only with regard toward other players, not focusing on mobs weak points.

    One word: Portals.
With a good network in the Nether, it’s possible to fast travel all over the top world.
It also gives you a reason to go to Nether.

Also, boats in canals work great.

posted a message on [new] Biome specific mobs
    It’s been said before;
what do they do? What do they drop?
While I do want more creatures in Minecraft, it be nice if they fit a purpose other than “It would be cool”.
Alternatively, the selection of current creatures can be affected by which biome the spawn in, giving us yacks, boars and other fitting variations.

Also hoping for more prehistoric creatures, as long as they have a purpose.
