Jul 9, 2014Animedude5555 posted a message on Snapshot 14w28a (now B) is Ready For Testing! Be Sure to Report Bugs!Game plays much more jerky in the new version. The rendering distance as set in the video options was 5 chunks, back in snapshot version 14w27b (and most other versions normal and snapshot versions before that), because anything high would have made the graphics very jerky. Now in snapshot version 14w28a, I have to set it to half that distance (2 chunks) if I am to make it not get jerky while playing. I don't know what Mojang did to the graphics engine in the last update, but it isn't working very well for me. Despite the bug in 14w27b that flipped the direction of powered rails placed on slopes, at least the game played at a reasonable frame rate for a render distance of 5 chunks (the minimum distance that I would recommend you ever set, because anything less obscures too much of the land at a distance). Now in version 14w28a, I'm forced to set the render distance to half that and have an unplayably short sight distance in the game, or alternatively I'm forced to play with a ridiculously low framerate (like 5 to 10 fps) which makes the game unplayably jerky.Posted in: News

Jul 2, 2014Animedude5555 posted a message on Snapshot 14w27a is Now Ready for Hopping!Check the available snapshots in the Minecraft launcher program. Already up to snapshot 14w27b. Not sure what "b" has different than "a", but I can only assume it is some bug fixes. Please make new blog post to reflect this new snapshot.Posted in: News

May 14, 2013Animedude5555 posted a message on Snapshot 13w19a Ready for TestingSo the new one can NOT be played offline? The resources for the game are ENTIRELY stored on Mojang's server? Is that what you guys are saying? Does he plan to release an offline mode for the new client, or is part of the new client going to be always forced online play to prevent piracy?Posted in: News

Actually you can already disable autosave. By default it is set for 30 minutes between autosaves.
To set the autosave interval, when on MC360's main menu, go to: Help&Options > Settings > Options
here you will see a slider that says Autosave Interval. It should already say "30 Mins" on it. Select the slider, and press left or right on the left thumb-stick or the direction-pad. Pressing left will decrement the value by 15 minute increments. Pressing right will increment the value by 15 minute increments. Going all the way to the left will completely disable the autosave feature. Going all the way to the right will give an autosave interval of 120 minutes (the maximum). The available autosave intervals (from left to right on the slider) are: OFF, 15, 30, 45, 60, 75, 90, 105, 120.

That sounds suspicious, since it was near the beginning of October that the the game-type had been changed to online. Could it have been an "invisible" update that was being automatically pushed (update is applied without the user's knowledge, in the background) as it was only a small code change meant to fix a couple bugs, and the writer of the update believed that because it was so small and so quick to apply, that there was no need to alert the user?
Or could it have been something more sinister? For example, a hacker that managed to exploit a flaw in XBox Live service to force changes in settings in various games on XBox360 consoles around the world? Or maybe it was an official pushed update, but the reason it was installed invisibly (and not acknowledged to even exist on the public list of official updates) was because they were intentionally installing government-required spyware (that is now illegal for all online-game writers to not include in their games), because the NSA wants to now spy on us through our online video games? If it's the latter of these (NSA, not just some random hacker), it may have also installed government-produced spyware (not just changed some settings).

Thanks. That fixed it. Every single one of my saves had been changed to an online game somehow. Was this glitch caused by an update being applied or something? When was the last update for this game released?

Mojang, for the love of all that is good, PLEASE FIX THIS.
Update:
It appears that the bug has a fix that can be used to get it back to being able to play split-screen multiplayer again. Read http://www.minecraftforum.net/forums/support/minecraft-xbox-360-edition-help/2236825-major-error-message-multiplayer-not-allowed?comment=6. However there is still the question of WHAT CAUSED THIS. I don't know, and I'm guessing it's a bug of some kind. Hopefully this bug will be figured out and eliminated in future updates, so that future updates don't just set the saves all back to online games again.

My configuration is that I (the owner owner of the console and the game) have an XBLive Silver account connected to my profile. My guest also has a profile on my console, but it is a not-at-all-connected-to-the-internet profile. This is so he can save any progress he makes can be saved locally to my console's HDD. We are playing split-screen multiplayer. We are not doing a LAN game (if that would even possible in MC360, I don't know), and we CERTAINLY are not playing over the internet (as that would require a gold XBL account). I do not know why, but despite this configuration working for MONTHS (without so much as a hint that things were about to change, like an error message, or a message talking about a change in the terms of the EULA), it has stopped working just today. Did the makers of MC change their EULA terms of use behind the scenes, then push an invisible game-update (forcible background auto-update to the game, with absolutely no onscreen indicator to show that the game was being updated) onto my system to enforce this change, causing it to now REQUIRE (for the first time ever) online connectivity for BOTH players in a split-screen game of MC360?

"Multiplayer Not Allowed: failed to join the game as one or more players are not allowed to play multiplayer games on Xbox Live"
What gives?!

Also, I can't directly get a water block anymore by using "/give @p water". That cheat used to work, but apparantly in some of the more recent snapshots it has become impossible to posses a block of water (or lava). I've even tried editing my inventory with an NBT editor and changing an item in my inventory into water, and it makes the item disappear from the inventory in game!
Can someone please reverse engineer the current form of the game, and tell me why all these cheats aren't working anymore.

I wonder what it will be like. The theme song for the anime Monster Rancher seems like it could describe a possible plot for such a movie as this one.
The lyrics for that being:
I was transported to a far away land, to a world where monsters rule.
I played the game like an ace, and now we're in this place to save the monsters from the evil Mu (for Minecraft that could be replaced with Herobrine).
Monster Rancher and Minecraft also have a connection with the title of Monster Rancher sounding like you are running a farm for monsters (which you aren't in the anime, not sure about the PS1 game on which it was based), and in in Minecraft you actually can farm monster type mobs (look up mob farms).
Check out the awesome Monster Rancher anime intro video. I could totally get behind a Minecraft movie if it was an anime, and if it was anything like Monster Rancher.
And here's a pic of Golem (who looks to be made of rock) versus Big Blue (who looks to be a version of Golem made out of ice and snow), who are VERY similar in concept (though not in appearance) to the Iron Golem and Snow Golem in Minecraft.
In fact I could easily see them making an anime movie about Minecraft also involving Monster Rancher characters, for an epic crossover movie.

As for using a mod (like the above mentioned minimap mod), that is obviously cheating. Mods are used to add "cool features" to the game that are not really meant for use by a serious game player, but just someone that wants to mess around and do cool things, much like creative mode. Entering creative mode, using any cheat codes, or using any mod, is cheating when one (such as myself) intents to play fair-and-square in survival mode. Again, if Mojang wants to add a minimap in later versions of the game, then great, I'll use it then. But I'm not going to be using any mods in normal game-play.
