I play on a realm that's been around since 1.9, and it's always updated with the new release as it's come out.
But 1.20 has been out for near on a month now, and the realm I'm playing is still running 1.19.4. Is that normal to have it take more than a month to update to the new version or does the realm owner have to do something to update it? O__o
So two weeks have passed, the monument is now completely dry and hollowed out. I think I'm going to make it both my base and a communal experience farm.
Working on ideas for the spawn tank and where to place it now. :]
Heh, good luck to you in completing this project, assuming you'll be turning it into a guardian farm. I remember the first time I did it... two months plus one month of aesthetic renovating. The one I found, much to my luck, featured no sponge room. So, block-by-block I cleared the water. Have fun.
This one has a sponge room, And I've already offed the elder guardians, so I have I think 18 sponges total.
Haven't decided yet if I want to make it my base or a farm, but either way I'd like it dried out for saftey sake. xD
I started a single player world for 1.13 and for goals so far.
I've cleared all the trees on my starting island, I'm going to terraform it a bit to make it look a bit better, them I'm going to light it up and start building things.

This may seem silly to ask, but is the water in the spawn tank above Y38?
Because below Y38 is no longer part of the monument and won't produce spawns.

I'm going to take the diplomatic route.
Each version has it's upside for me.
But having played so long in newer versions, going back to 1.8 and earlier just feel wrong to me.
And I'd miss the shulker boxes some fierce.

I have issues finding squid sometimes too.
I'm currently clearing an ocean monument, and usually, they're falling over each other to die to the water wall. I've seen 3, maybe 4. :/

Well the sand is in, Took me about a week of playing a few hours a day. I still have to take the sand out and then drain the inside.
I'd say I've got another week or two before it's ready.
I did this once before, in 1.8, when ocean monuments were introduced, it took me much longer to do. xD

I play similar to everyone else here, really.
I use stone tools to find iron. Iron to find diamond while gathering materials for builds and projects.
When I feel comfortable with my state in the game, I make full diamond gear.
Where I differ, is on the projects I use the tools on.
No one like to feel like the tool that broke a diamond pick digging a basement in a house you're going to abandon later because it's too small.
I use my diamond tools for larger projects where going back to the crafting table every 3 - 10 minutes is a pain, like guardian farms or ender enders.

So I'm about 14 hours into this 'little' project to clear out an ocean monument.
Pain in the hiney-hole.
Not using redstone and AFK means, I'm not that good.
Straight block placing. I have a conduit under the monument so I don't have to worry about air.
I had to manually go around and remove the kelp. Falling sand doesn't break the kelp like it does the sea grass. :/
If I'd known it was going to be this time consuming, I'dve let someone else suffer.

Today's session on the realm brought this map.
I'm ashamed to say it took me the better part of 3 to 4 hours to fill the 4 map sections.

As fishing is a favorite minecraft passtime for me, I'm going to have to go with the good old fashioned 'Super Rod'

Fortune on an axe also give a higher chance of apples and saplings dropping when you chop leaves with it.

It is, I've had several myself.
But you have to look at it this way: The enchanted book that you fish up can contain one or many of every enchantment in the game.
So it's basically down to luck of the draw.

Awesome, thank you so much.
