Please help! This is driving me insane!
Are you supposed to climb the giant tree in the volcano area after you crash the ship? It said there was something at the top of it on the sketch of the area Schmidt gave you, and he warns you away from climbing it at the foot of it, so are you supposed to climb it or not. I've been trying for a while now, and I am having trouble getting very far to the top and keep falling off (that scream scared the heck out of me when I heard it). Its really bugging me!

Well, I looked at the first four pages and the last three, and nobody appears to have asked this, so here goes. Are the mods for the map compatible with OptiFine. I don't actually REQUIRE it to play, but its nice to be able to do redstone and jumping puzzles at greater than 3 fps, and tiny render distance is no fun for anyone. I understand if it's not, just thought I would ask.

posted a message on Enderdragons AND dragons?
I hope there are both, as long as you can't ride them. Normal dragons should have generated lairs, with lots of ore/metal blocks inside. They should be very rare, huge, and be insanely difficult to kill, breath fire and be able to remove potion affects. Enderdragons should be smaller and more common (because, so far, they are one of the only two Ender mobs), but still be difficult to kill.

Taming/Riding dragons? No. Just no. I would rather have no dragons than lame rideable (?) ones.

posted a message on 1.9 PR3 Seed Request
Hello all! I am wondering if anyone knows of any seeds for 1.9 PR3 that spawns you relatively close to some sheer cliff faces, preferably looking over a forest/plain, with a stronghold nearby?

If any of you are watching mcKrawll's Hardcore Lets Play, I want a seed similar to his (his doesn't work in PR3, as far as I can tell). Thanks!

I can totally imagine this mod getting 1000 downloads in the first 10 minutes when he releases it! XD

On another note, am I the only person that got increased performance when 1.8 came out? I used to get around 10-15fps before, but with 1.8 it increased to 15-20fps (not a whole lot, I know, but still pretty significant).

posted a message on 1.9 is too much like a mod
So far, the only part of 1.9 I really like is the new nether stuff. I am ok with the giant mushroom biomes, but I don't like the mooshrooms. I think that what the OP meant with that it feels like a mod is that it doesn't feel like Minecraft. It more feels like a mod that an amateur modder would make as a first or second mod rather than something that belongs in vanilla Minecraft. Many of the new "features" don't really blend with the rest of the game.

A few people said above that we have purchased a game in beta and are therefor simply beta testers. This is true, but the primary job of beta testers is to 1. Look for bugs in the game that must be fixed, 2. Suggest new features for the game, and finally 3. Find features in the game that don't really work or don't feel right. The Minecraft community is very good at doing the first two, but I feel that people often don't do the third, mainly because they are flamed and trolled by the rest of the community whenever they say that they don't like a feature for whatever reason.

Also, remember that you didn't only pay for a game in beta, you also paid for the full version when it is released. People seem to forget about this frequently when posting in these threads.

posted a message on [Request] Portal Skin
Hello, I just finished playing Portal 1 and 2, and I was wondering if someone could make a Aperture Scientist skin for me. I would like him to be wearing a white lab coat with the Aperture Laboratories logo on the back. I am fine with it being a simplified version of the actual logo, just as long as you can look at it and recognize it for what it is. I want him to have blue eyes and black/brown hair. I have looked around for one, but most Portal skins seem to be of test subjects or companion cubes. I would prefer it if it wasn't uploaded to some skin site (I like to have unique skins), but if you really want to then you can.

I can give more detail if you need it, and could probably hunt down some pictures of what I'm looking for if you wanted.

posted a message on What do you want populating NPC Villages?
    Quote from InsanityBringer

I want humans, by far. Every other proposal I have heard is completely ridiculous (especially the pigmen, sorry). Hostile villages with goblins or something would be cool, but they shouldn't be the only kind of village out there.

    This.

I would love to see more RPG elements added to the game, such as villages, trading, quests, etc. Minecraft currently gets boring rather quickly, and things like this would help alleviate some of that. Some ideas of my own: Maybe have a reputation with each individual village? It could have hostile, neutral, and friendly zones on it, and the village could change between them depending on your behaviors with them, and some behavoirs (eg. killing them) would cause it to drop more than others. So, for example, if you trade with a village and help it with things, it will become friendly to you, and you could have more privileges in that village. However, if you hurt the villages people, your reputation will lower, and killing them will make it plummet. You would automatically have some reputation in the village, so some villages are welcoming when they meet you, while others are wary and will take longer for you to become friends with.

Also, you could have villages be able to make special blocks/items for trading that you can't get anywhere else, so that trading with them seems more worthwhile.

Of course, these should probably have an on/off switch when making a world, similar to the Generate Structures option there is now.

    Quote from krawllstryker

As for your last question, Yes it can. I thought i made a point of that in the video but that might have been in the first attempt to make it.

I am actually working on a version that goes down as well. also one that stop at a specific level. Not sure how far I will delve into this though.

That would be awesome. I am coming up with redstone and piston inventions for when I start playing the actual game again, and that would most definitely be how I enter the hollow mountain on the seed I will be using. Otherwise, I'll probably use Daft's piston elevator.

    posted a message on Blender?
So, I have been seeing things that people have done using blender, so a few hours ago I decided to go and try it out.

I am totally confused. Are there any decent tutorials for it? I would prefer text and picture ones, but videos work too.

    Thanks for any help!

Oh, and sorry if this is the wrong section. Seemed most appropriate.

What is the right way to say USB then? I usually call it a USB cable, but that ain't right is it? Also, I hate when people ask what resolution a monitor has, I tell them 1920x1080 or whatever - and they say, " No, the resolution, not the size". So they think 24" is a resolution ..

No, that is correct. USB is an adjective, not a noun. You can say it describing a noun (USB cable), but not by itself (USB). It is kind of like somebody saying "I want a blue". Blue what? Blue is not a noun, at least when used like this. The correct version would be "I want a blue duck" or something like that.

Note to self: If I ever create my own mod, write in big bold letters at the top: THE YOGSCAST IS NOT ALLOWED TO SHOWCASE THIS MOD, BECAUSE I DON'T WANT TO HAVE TO DEAL WITH THEIR FANBOYS. I wonder how Simon and Lewis would react.

The paths should be "%APPDATA%\.minecraft\saves\" and "%APPDATA%\.minecraft\stats\". %APPDATA% should automatically take you to your Roaming folder. If you want to test it, I would recommend typing %APPDATA% into Windows Explorer.

posted a message on Repeatedly mispronounced tech terms
I blame the English language. Since the vast majority are not said the way they are spelled, I think that people automatically think that new words should not be pronounced the way they are spelled. And thus, because they are pronounced that way, get them wrong.

Although, ITouch is rather forgivable. I mean, it's usually referred to as a Touch, and most people know what a "Touch" is. It kind of makes sense to stick Apple's I- onto the front of it.

Also, MySQL should most certainly be pronounced My-S-Q-L, similar to USB. Makes a lot more sense then "my sequel" or anything else.

    Quote from Zancie

And, I don't try to make acronyms words, like people say E M P like "Ehm-PP" which annoys me.

Am I the only one that immediately though of Red vs. Blue? "Firing ehmp... WHAT?" Oh, gotta love RvB.
