posted a message on Review my channel please
Generally speaking... while it's not a technically bad channel (we can hear you, audio and video are clear), you trail off a lot and start mumbling... this is more just a habit that needs to be broken (I have been guilty of it as well, and still do occasionally) - though the trick is to either envision yourself speaking to an audience -or- envision yourself speaking to a group of friends (depending on the type of episode - instructional is the former for example, while LPs are the latter usually).

Focus on maintaining that clear stream of thought, and clear voice, and you'll do fine.

I wouldn't limit your name by making it game-specific (I know I'd be regretting it now if I had) - instead make it more focused on your 'identity' - since the channel name is your "brand" - whether you're branding yourself (Username), branding your content (USC-Creator, USC-Gaming, USC-Reviews, USC-LP), or just going loopy (UnlabeledSoCo) - you need to consider what you want that name to mean to people.

My channel is focused on my personality and the games I enjoy (so it's my screen name/pen-name), where as if I was going to make strictly a classic game review, I'd do something like "Cartridge King" ... or if it was first impressions "Instant Content"

What will you call it? I was actually considering doing something similar, but focused on specifically the gaming aspect of youtube (covering legal, technical, etc. advice)

posted a message on Ask your Technical Questions (New FAQ)
Since a lot of you can tell, I post a lot in this section of the forum (I crawl the "Video/Series Help" subforum a few times a week), I thought I'd ask for questions from you guys for an updated and more detailed technical recording FAQ (I'll post an "Updated Recording FAQ" in this section with both text and video versions - when the video versions are complete).

Right now the core questions I'm looking for (and I'll try to answer here, while working on compiling the FAQ), are questions on:
    - Hardware Requirements
    - Audio/Video "Best Practices"
    - FRAPs
    - DxTory
    - Sony Vegas

I'll look at expanding that list after I'm able to get that core done (such as expanding into other free/pay software, Mac content, digital imaging/animation software, minecraft mods, etc.)

(thought a lot about where to post this, and while it's technically a "call for help", it is for content specific to this section, and felt this was the most appropriate place to put it)

posted a message on Question about HD PVRs
While I don't have personal experience with them, I have done quite a bit of shopping around and asking questions since I eventually do hope to do some work with console titles on my channel - pretty much keep running into the same answer wherever I go "Hauppauge" - every response I've gotten about different brands included some pretty nasty "but"s or "except"s about problems they've had with them. It's one of those situations where you have to pay a premium because only one company can really do it right (another big example of this is Wacom and drawing tablets, but I digress :P)

not a bad start... could use some tweaking on audio levels in this video (its gotten slightly better in newer videos, but only marginally - still too quiet). Voice first, game audio second.

Also work on building your enthusiasm a little bit, think about how you talk when you're describing something you love doing (or failing that, think about how a kid describes something new to them that they find interesting), a lot of variance helps keep people sticking with you, rather than letting you become part of the background. This will come with time though.

that's about all I can complain about, visually the videos are just fine. Just need what most new channels (including my own) need help with, and that is content.

Pretty much what Topher said is 100% on the money - do what you enjoy doing, minecraft is a great tool for getting your "LP voice" (or your commentary voice, or whatever). It's good for helping you get over the awkwardness that is "talking to a microphone".

The reason asking for ideas is kinda iffy - is most people with the ability to act on the good ideas will do that rather than give them away.

Just remember btw - the first several recordings you'll be doing, will be overcoming technical issues, unless you are very very lucky. After that it's finding your voice (which can take weeks or months), and then finally you'll have a gauge on the content you'll be creating more "long term". You'll need the patience to get through those frustrating starts to really get moving.

In the 'reply' window, there's 3 icons on the top left... one's a lightswitch, one's a pink and white thing, and the 3rd is a teal little menu looking thing... click on the 3rd one.

selected "youtube subscribe" from the pull-down menu (it's at the very bottom).

Type in your channel name, for example I would type: Alzorath

Click "OK" and it will give you something that looks like:

    [youtubesubscribe]Alzorath[/youtubesubscribe]

and result in your post having this in it:

Did you try completely uninstalling and reinstalling minecraft? Could be anything from a corrupt file to some hardware failure - hopefully just the former.
