Jul 16, 2014Alvtron posted a message on Minecraft Forum Updates With YOUR Feedback!First of, I love the new forum design. It's much more up to date and polished, compared to the old forum. When that has been said, I do have some issues...Posted in: News
- Performance issue while editing a thread. I'm using Google Chrome, but this doesn't seem to act any different in other web browsers. Sometimes when I want to edit my thread, a simple, small modification or a huge modification for that matter, would freeze my web-browser completely, and it will stay freezed until Google suggests to "kill" the operation. I've tried not to, but it hasn't given any results. This is such a shame, especially when you've done a lot of changes.
EDIT: I cleaned up my thread where I had this problem. I noticed that for every portion of text placed, the BB code for which font type where added. I removed all sorts of BB codes for fonts (I use Arial, which is the default). This removed a lot of noticeable BB code which made the thread more efficient. This wasn't a problem before, though.
- Thread loses it's BB coding during saving. This has happen for a long time, even before this update, and it's quite annoying. Example:
BB codes like "bold characters" turn into "(b)bold character(/b)". replace () with []
- Paragraphs gets deleted. There's been numerous cases where all empty paragraphs gets removed during saving a thread. Both with images and text. Example:
Before saving:
I believe pigs can fly.
The sentence above believes something silly.
After saving:
I believe pigs can fly.
The sentence above believes something silly.
- Upon saving, I loose some images for no reason. The images would simply be gone after saving. Quite irritating.
- Upon saving, I get some extra paragraphs/new lines I didn't spot in the editor.
A lot of other things have happen, but these are the most painful ones. I know these might be random errors that just can occur, but maybe this information helps in someway.
Useful info to know:
- I use Google Chrome as my main web browser and alternatively, Firefox.
- I use ImageShack as host for all my images.
- Display the "Edit"-option above a thread as well as below. Sometimes, it's just a bit painful to have to scroll far down to be able to edit your thread. Especially if the thread is big.
- Display the newest replies first or an option to do so. When reading the replies to a thread, the first thing you see is the oldest replies which are less relevant than newer replies in most cases.
- Better ways to display images in threads/comments. A widget where you can basically create an image-displayer that navigates between all your images. It's a simpler, cleaner way to display a lot of images without taking up too much space. You also won't need to hide them in a spoiler if space is a problem.
- Titles and categories with easy navigation. A way to separate different sections of your thread and place them into categories which can be opened/clicked for viewing. Like spoilers, but with better navigation.

The weird thing is that turning off 'Animated textures' does nothing visually, for what I've seen. I'm still not sure why and what is causing the lag.

Go to r3dcraft.net and check out Reduce lag or prevent crashes: Optifine

I understand your thinking, and you are not the first one to propose this idea. The main reason for why this isn't a community project is because I'm in a way selfish and want this to be my work. If I ever come to a point where I conclude that this is too much for me, I will make it open for anyone to do what they please with.
I can do this on my own. All I need is enough time to get to that 100% mark. Then keeping it updated won't be a problem.
The red (not incompatible) is caused by one line of code that should be changed from "2" to "3". That will be fixed in the next update.

Thanks! I'll be looking into it!

Hey guys!

I really want to finish this project this summer, so I made a Kickstarter. If I reach the goal, I will be able to dedicate all of my workdays every week for 12 weeks to R3D CRAFT and finish it! Starting 1th of June 2017!
Check out my Kickstarter!
I have also created a webpage for R3D CRAFT at r3dcraft.net. Check it out!

Don't know, but it kills my frames as well.
The sparks you are referring to are most likely my attempt on Specular maps. It's not completed and a bad piece of work, to be honest. Turn of specular maps in the shader settings to get rid of those.
You can also check out a fanmade shader support pack in the community section of this thread. That looks a lot better!

"... turn off terrain animation."

There are quite less blocks in Default Realism. Try installing Optifine and turn off terrain animation.

Good work, Adrien! Keep posting updates here!

I always use Sonic Ether's Unbelievable Shaders.

That's right. Default Realism is an incomplete/discontinued resource pack.
Check out my main resource pack, R3D CRAFT. It's closer to completion.

The indexing is not responsible for the sharpness. That's due to the new filter for downscaling. 32x and 64x look a lot better that way. I noticed that 128x lost some sharpness, and I guess I could exclude that, as well as 256x from the filtering process.
Yeah, I noticed the gradients on the chest, but I will change the chest lock a bit in the future anyway, so if that's the only texture that suffers from indexing, then the indexing is still worth it.
