I'm counting the hours now, barely checked the snapshots since I want a new world, officially 1.13 to play with single- or multiplayer. If it get released wednesday, then when, and at what timezone? If it's American, then perhaps Europe get it first? But gaming history is usually opposite :/

Mar 2, 2017Alv_Vatzdal posted a message on Minecraft As An ArtformPosted in: NewsQuote from JaenMegaSnake»
What do you thinks guys? Should Minecraft be considered art?
I would say no. Of course the huge amount of creativity and effort put in this game is something beautiful. But label something as art isn't a easy thing, nor even a good thing at all. In a game played by millions, which makes millions, it's not strange that what you are looking for in art is making more money. In this cases, art quickly turn into publicity, as we can see in the video.
Of course you can use Minecraft to make art, but Minecraft itself isn't art. Otherwise it will turn in to something hideous, as we can see in the worst mainstream art (not the good one though), I mean, an excuse to sell. Say Minecraft is an artform is a way to put it in a jerarchy, for the shake of feeling superior and make money of it. We are better than that guys.
Be creative, be an artist, but don't support the sell out of our game (or what is left).
In my opinion, videogames are not art. The are not worse not better than art, they are just different. And they can be artistic as hell.
Needless to say, I would like to show my total support to building teams, reource pack and texture artist.
Many good points. MC the game isn't art, but some people playing it can use it for arcitecture, recreating landmarks around the world, and make other types of crafts going around the limit of the game, as it is usually played on default, trying to reach the END(?), turn on peaceful or creative (or do all the labour to get everything I need, myself - and start building a world without those functions (or make them just a tiny bit of it all), but expressions, playing with creativity, could be art. To beautify and turn the world into something expressing inner things. Me or you sitting in an art-gallery playing against each other to make something could be art. But mostly it seem like handycraft, like making claypots or knittingn socks, since the blocks is a limit of whatever being made, but so can the sice of a canvas be a limitation. So I'm not sure, the definition of "art" is quite abstract these days (sic). In what I'm working on now, I want it to both be functional and also with non-functional things, just to make it look like what I'll rather want it to be.
Anyway, Minecraft is basically the first, new thing, since Wolfenstein "3D" and Civilization 1 in having a totally non-linear game story, without the makers of the game telling people what to do, but letting people make the game they want to play, focusing on whatever they want to do with whatever blocks they have, - To post a comment, please login.

I'm (JUST!) 40, bisexual with a GID, living in the closet where I currently live, so I won't be bullied anymore. I'd like some fellowminded people... But ATM I HAVE TO RUN, to catch an appointment. Good luck with recruiting nice people.

None of them are specifically for 1.14+, since I haven't really played since 1.13, but most have Jungle, Mesa, Mooshroom Island, just like I always try to have Extreme Hills near Spawn, to get emeralds early, and also varied biomes around. The 10 Water Biomes I've been specially into after the ocean update and I got lots of Jungle seeds too after the bamboo/panda update. I've mostly gotten credit for them, except from Playstation, Xbox and Nintendo players. For every 1 seed I've kept, I've probably deleted 20.
Would also really appreciate some likes, a kind word and/or a sub, since I don't make these anymore, but if the Minecraft Seed Community like these, I don't got much better then making some other, like for 1.14.
Hope you'll find a place to call home in one of these, and if you thank me in return, it really make me happy. Some rare individuals also add info to the maps, to help the community. Not a very strong community, but I know all love to find a seed they have been looking for.
Have a nice week, with kind regards Elvenkind/Alv
PS! The long picture with color codes below are the ones used in the maps. I think a couple are missing, like bamboo. Didn't find any better.

Yeah, that was what I meant. It even have the zombies from those that can't get tired of post-apocalyptic splatters.
Ah, Zork! I really miss a good text-adventure, having reached 40 years I don't quite follow what's popular among the youngsters anymore. I remember playing Pong on console with a mate as a kid, and it was much more fun then running around and getting shot at once by some FPS-maniac with thousands of hours in just killing imaginary people.
Some tex adventures were like pen-and-paper D&D, only missed the dice. Think I must try to find one of those one of these days. I bet there's dozens of really good games that are abandomware now, that once had a big price-tag (and deserve it still)
Seriously! Dwarf Fortress remind me about as much as Minecraft, as Space Invaders look like No Man's Sky, I don't understand the craving to go back to DOS-graphics everywhere and just can't be bothered to learn the game, since I won't get any gaming immersion no matter how good the gameplay is, or the idea behind it. Exceptions are Prison Architect.
I haven't played Garry's Mod, so I have no clue there. But Zelda? Open world? Bwahaha! Not at all to poke fun at Zelda, I had the best gaming memories EVER from Ocarina of Time the summer they released it. Oh, how I loved that game, and have missed something that have ever gotten close to the fun I had then, but too old I guess. Morrowind and WoW, that's were we can start talking open world, and not being locked in storylines. Dagoth Ur, or whomever the boss in Morrowind was, was really disapointing BTW, they didn't even bother giving him a unique skin. I remember an old friend that said he had plans to suicide after completing Morrowind (the only thing he saw sense in at that time, I hope it's better now) Imagine it must've been one hell of a anticlimax. I can't remember ever getting "VEEEENGEEEEAAAAAANCE!" ghost haunting the village of Daggerfall in Daggerfall, or Elder Scrolls 2 (1). Can Arena be said to be part of the true series? But If not for the THOUSANDS of caves where you could get lost FOR WEEKS, that was randomly generated, they were onto something there, in the early 90s. It was a much more open world then anything we've gotten until Skyrim perhaps. Oh I hate storylines.
I have lots of could-be brilliant games, but since they have storylines I can't stand to play them, for example thief simulator, would be so fun if there were an enourmous city, instead of a wannabe-mafioso telling you to start with stealing the frying pan and toaster.
I were a total Wow addict, but basically you could boil it down to grinding, as you can with too many games. Give me back those thousands of hours life! Just like with Minecraft, when they start to add pandas into the game, to make things easier for the newbies and more attractive for girls and the very young ones, it smells of desperation. They are on a good way to making a dish with simply too many ingridients into MC now. Too remain Nr.2 in the world they are pumping out ANYTHING. Just More STUFF. Never mind if it have any major improvement on the game mechanics, nope, it's just like starting to buy APP-Game gold for real cash, to have fun. They are reading the writing on the wall: There's not so much more they can do to the game, except making panda-soup, that also contain more and more of other, unidentified objects that don't increase the appetite at all. I don't know whern, but soon someone will bring people a game that make MC a thing that old nerds in forums collecting points for talking about it, to be the biggest forum-kid on the block. Just look at what happened when they released WoW Classic or whatever it's called, DESPERATION!!! Not enough servers, from all those that think they will travel back in time and forget the game and then remember it over again and get that old feeling from THE DAYS when Vanilla WAS the game.
If they can make a mix of Rust and Minecraft, without the bad crap in each game, and with something NEW. I dare say PVP-survival, forming guilds, claiming land, in a supermassive open world like MC, and having to guard the treasures like a dog buring a bone.
Or simply an online "offgrid" community. A virtual world where you can live, make money or trade or sell things in the market, that you have made time to grind. Massive VR-improvements. NPC's you can chat to for real. Somewhere with safe zones. Fishing, hunting, trapping simulator, agriculture, farming, building, crafting with specialization in a particular thing that you naturally specialize in because you find something you enjoy doing repetatively -. Dawn of Man-ish MMORPG for example where you are a member of the tribe, take part in the survival. Making towns, fortifications, battles with hundreds of people, sickness and plague. Natural disasters.I wonder what the popular thing is in a few decades. I know I will be gaming, sitting in a home for elders with VR gear, having grown fat.
But enough of that tale.

Did these kind of games exist before Minecraft got published? Or can it be said that MC is the Wolfenstein 3D of our time, like that - then specially when including doom and quake) was the start of all FPS games?
Like some of these games, the best I can think of within the genre, only the latter got zombies I think:
What's your favorite replacement for Minecraft? I'm only referring to games I've spent time actually playing here. Other, similar games would be nice to see, for those that are always looking for the next, best thing.

This equal I don't know how many days with skullcrushing boredom, waiting for Amidst to finish rendering the seed, then in most cases I make up my mind that most the seeds to satisfy the simple demands I have: To have All or Most (In view if not anything else) rare seeds, such as Jungle, Jungle Hills, Mesa Mesa Bryce, Mushroom Island, Ice with those ... Spiked blue ice, and all the 10 ocean biomes somewhere on the map. Also things like Temples underwater, in desert and jungle, forgotten mineshafts, coral reefs/warm ocean as close as possible and the same with Extreme Hills, so I can get Emeralds same time while mining.
Then the more common biomes spread around nearby, none being in an extreme majority except desert, where it pays off with temples to have huge deserts. Same with coast nearby, to row quickly to far off biomes, if not choosing portals for that. I love lush areas where the desert eat it up, and then make an oasis of ALL forms of life in the oasis. Several of the maps do in fact have a perfect, circular bay next to spawn. It's so fun to gather a double chest of dirt (it's faster to search for diamonds when finding dirt underground), then kill some Ender-men when they got a green dirt, and grow all sorts of trees except Spruce, and THEN see all the BROWN and WHITE-YELLOW turn into lush and beautiful GREEN. Also connecting it if theres any green dirt nearby. Having LOTS of parrots, cat, foxes, turtles, dolphins sealed off inside the lagoon, pools with tropical fish, LOTS of melons and sugar cane, pumpkin, growing veggies in boxes with dirt (?), aqueducts, ALL kind of flowers, but not filled to the brim, having some growing here and some there. SOOO Beautiful.
The Further down you go, you will see I focus on the 10 water-biomes, having an as huge area of warm ocean with corals glowing in the night near spawn, to look at. I Always settle at 0,0 so I can never go lost. One of these spawns is in the ocean, and it's one of the coolest bases I've had. Not to mention secure, being too shallow and too bright to spawn mobs.
1 Map got 4-5 Woodland Mansions visible on map - 1 of them visible from spawn and 1 got 1 other. Lots of weird loot in the first mentioned map. Those maps that don't have any Mansion Visible, can talk to a cartographer, trade mostly paper and then get a Woodland Map (Or was it Woodland Mansion Map?)
Then I focus on jungle spawns in some of the lists, with bamboo and panda and cats and ozelots, fox and wolf.
I've not been very good in seeking out taiga hills M+ though, to have a quick way to find fox and wolf, but mainly focused on the abovementionedk, or else I'd never be satisfied with any of them and all the M+ maps that is lacking. After all the most important is to have access to most resources at a spawn and base where you love to work. To get the Adventurer achievement isn't a bad idea to make a Nether-Hub... Or what?
Where do I start it and end it? What's the mid of it? I haven't done HTML since the early 90's :\

If you jump to 1:36-1:37 in the video, then look down south-east from the jungle, and there's first 2 huge forest biomes there, colored mint-green, and then extreme hills with more flower forest on the other side. I can't remember visiting it, but I can only guess it must be some wonderful places to see there, with waterful coming down from the moutains and the flowers everywhere.
Personally I find 0,0 to be a reasonable place to start. At the bay where you spawn, there's a little island where turtles visit and seagrass grow around it, so you can trap a couple inside a small hut and then make a Turtle Shell from the Scute that drops with all the babies you can produce. I think the Turtle Shell is equal to diamond helmet, and gives you good capabilities to stay below water and to gather treasures. You are close to a couple of villages, close to temples, close to horses, close to all farm animals, all veggies from villages, right next to some extreme hills where you can build some railroads down to level 6 or 9 and drain it for both diamonds and get emeralds at the same time. Outside the desert-part of the spawn, there's several caves where you can get armor, shield, weapon and tools, and if you decide to build base there, you'll get lots of XP since 4 types of zombies will visit you and 2 types of skeletons. Also close to the sea, where you can travel around both the one to the north, and get to visit dozens of biomes, and also take a boat to the ocean south.
The best thing about starting at a desert spawn for me though, is that there's a few blocks of green grass near the turtle island, and if you have a couple of stacks of dirt and seedlings and flowers, then you can make a garden/oasis that look incredible lush in the bleak desert enviroment. Sometimes I've connected dirt to grass several hundreds of block away to enjoy the strange sight of a blooming desert. You might be lucky and spread grass faster if you kill ender men holding grass blocks.
Remember if you are going for the Advernturer achivement, then in each herd of horses, there's some slow, some with high health, some with high jumps, but only 1 that got all 3 of these.
If you stay away from main base at long time at once, then it's a wise decicion to tame a bunch of Llamas, and put a lead on one of them, and also different colored rugs if you want a cool sight, along with a chest on each (shift-click) Then the leader-Llama will make all the others follow in a nice row, and unlike horses or donkeys or mules being lead by a Lead, the lead to the "Alpha" never break by my experience, and you can probably double your loot.
Unfortunately it's very complicated if you try to get llamas through nether-hubs, but anyway, this is probably the fastest way to get the achivement, and also build up a system where you got access to all biomes.
If you row straight north until land from where you spawn, then head west, you find the mushroom island. Remember to bring wooden bowls if you got inventory space, in the old days Mushroom Soup was the best food one could get. And the Mooshroooms got endless amounts of it. Btw if you bring one of each flower, if't a fast way to discover what soup give you what effect.
I can comfirm that. There's a small patch in the jungle to the south, beside also Jungle M and Jungle Hills, and nearby there's Mesa with Mesa Bryce and off the coast off that is the only frozen ocean I can see on the map.
There's actually 10 types of water biome. Normal ocean ocean, frozen ocean, cold ocean, lukewarm ocean, warm ocean, deep ocean, deep frozen ocean (I might be mistaken here), deep cold ocean, deep lukewarm ocean, but not deep warm ocean. Finallly there's river. All 10 of those are pretty close to spawn.
The only thing I don't like about this map is the lack of large fields of coral nearby. Also I have no clue where the least far away Woodland Mansion is, for those wanting to kill all enemies (but think that's possible with pillagers now,but correct me if i'm wrong, I haven't played since 1.13.2), but I'm sure I can remember a carthographer in one of the villages nearby. I think you only need to grow tons of sugarcane, turn it to paper and sell it for emeralds, and in the end he got map showing where the Mansion is.

Here's 12 more, picked from among the thread made by MinecraftWorldMapper, where I shared my video above, as it seemed we were working on the same: Seeds with spawns near Jungle. I didn't pick all of them though, only the ones where all biomes is to be found within the map created by Amidst, at a reasonable distance.

Here's a video I just made with 12 seeds where you spawn in jungle/bamboo or very close to it, and in all the seeds the jungle got bamboo forest. I've spent the whole evening and night in sorting out seeds with spawns near bamboo (the part of the jungle with an olive green color) from about 100 seeds I found all over the internet. I had 20, but reduced them down to about half, and only kept the ones with all biomes possible to reach (and to get the Adventurer achivement), where half is within about 3K x 6K and the other half is within 10k x 5K blocks.
I hope someone are able to find a seed they like from this.

Bump! We found ourselves a server in Australia, but since that's on the other side of the planet it had a lot of lag, so we are still looking. Hoping someone have a nice community and a new server, started recently, where we can be part in building it up.

SEED -648154640804575350
This have all features of 1.13.2 and will be perfect to transition to when 1.14 is ready. It fit both for singleplayer and multiplayer. Spawn is at 0,0 looking out toward the ocean with quick access to rest of the map by boat.
I've been looking for all rare biomes I can think of and it has Mesa Bryce, Jungle Hills M, Xtreme Hills+ M, Warm Ocean, Frozen Ocean, Taiga, Mushroom Island, Mega Spruce Taiga Hills, Roofed Forest M, Birch Forest M, Huge Flower Forests, most within 2000x2000 Blocks from spawn, spawn is also exactly at 0,0 in desert with Extreme Hills (emeralds) Village clearly visible from start on other side of river. Warm Ocean close and jungle about 1000 blocks south.
This is the new seed I am going to play!
Please Subscribe if you like quality seeds on youtube, rather then just clickbait.

Hi, I'm already a member of Ironcraft, and glad to be, but that's an adult only server, so I'm looking for a server started recently, with a vanilla (few basics mods to prevent griefing etc. is ok) world where me and my soon to be 13 year old son can find a home among a friendly community working as a duo, having a base together somewhere with total freedom to build and have fun, exploring 1.13 that he haven't tried yet on PC.
About us: We are living in Norway, aged 39 and 12, we both are very similar, calm, friendly guys. He understand most basic english and can take part in chat.
Hoping someone have a server ready where we can fit in and be free, and call home.
Thank you very much for your time, with friendly regards Alv. IGN: Elvenkind

Do you record on YouTube/Twitch? (y/n): Sometimes. Mostly I'm on YT to provide good seeds to the MC community.
Why would you like to join: Me (39 year old from Norway) and my soon to be 13 year old son are looking for a new server to call home, where we can play together with other players in a new world, chat, have fun and find a place of our own to create into something nice. He's older then his years, understand most english, very friendly and understanding to people. Personally I like to have someone to chat with and check what other's are doing, but mostly stick with my boy and keep him safe. Will provide IGN for him when and if we get accepted into the community.
With Friendly Regards

If you haven't seen the new video I posted yesterday of 15 quite perfect seeds, there's at least 7 of them that might fit your requirment, so I reccommend having a look at it. Most of the mentioned seeds are placed in warm ocean/coral reef biomes with a mix of tiny and medium islands. One island is just barely connected with mainland and have 3 different biomes and there's one pretty large desert island in another of the seeds. I imagine that must be the ultimate survival seed, trying to make a living on that island, something I'm quite tempted to try myself, because it only got rabbits and fish available and no trees, but almost endless sunken treasures.

These are a selection of all my latest seeds, with focus on having a warm ocean (coral reef) and jungle biomes near spawn, in addition to the other rare biomes as close as possible. A varied mix of inland, coastal or islands in huge warm-ocean biomes with coral reefs. Two of the seeds also have woodland mansions. They are snapshot ready with jungle (And Bamboo and Pandas) also near or at spawn.
It's been a whole lot of work to go through clickbait on youtube and forums to find all these seeds, render them, make a relaxing video to illustrate them and put all the info up on youtube. I'm uploading fewer videos these days, so please subscribe if you want more, trustworthy and good seeds to try out your new Minecraft world, leave a comment if you find mob spawns or specially good treasure and if you have any questions don't hesitate to ask.
