posted a message on Mic is very sensitive and has hissing noise
Some of the noise you might be hearing could be because you're using an analog mic. Regardless of how awesome the mic is, if it's analog, the computer has to convert that to digital and unless your computer's sound card has its own dedicated and guaranteed power source, noise can be introduced in that process.

You can try a USB mic as that gets constant power from the computer and does its own analog-to-digital conversions in the mic itself. That's what did it for me.

Of course, you want to test if this is indeed the case before making another purchase. Try this. Record your mic in as quiet an environment as you can get and without you right next to it. Then record it again, this time with your mic wrapped up, covered up, to muffle any outside sounds. If you notice the same ambient noise, this is caused by the process I mentioned where your computer converts from analog to digital without a dedicated power source to the sound card. If the sound really does get softer that means that, at least in part, you have something in the background you're simply used to.

Otherwise, you can always use Audacity to filter out the noise post-recording.

posted a message on Mob suggestion: Shade
Shades, a.k.a. Ghosts but called Shades because 'ghost' and 'ghast' are similar in spelling and smelling.

Texture: Partially transparent and gray. Exact shape undecided.

Hit Points: 10 HTP (5 Hearts).

Damage: None, but inflicts a 4 second Wither II effect.

Range: 2 blocks, even through other blocks. The Shade's body will suddenly seem to expand to engulf Steve for an instant before retracting.

    Cooldown: 3 seconds.

Speed: Faster than walking Steve and slower than running Steve (without effects)

Spawn Overworld: Light level 7 or lower, Y-coordinate 48 or lower, no block restrictions (as they don't necessarily spawn on blocks but also hovering in the air) except inside Water

Spawn Nether: Light level 7 or lower, Y-coordinate 128 or lower, no block restrictions (as they don't necessarily spawn on blocks but also hovering in the air)

    Special properties:
-If ignited, they die instantly without any drops.
-They path away from light levels 8 or above and are ignited when exposed to light levels 10 or above, regardless of if it's sunlight.
-They can spot Steve 20 blocks away through any block, but blocks mobs normally cannot see through count as 2 blocks in this case.
-There is a 1/4 chance when attacking it that the attack passes through the Shade and does not harm it. However, a weapon with the Smite enchantment will always hit (under normal hitting rules).
-The Wither will never target it.
-When it is daytime, all Shades everywhere despawn regardless of the light levels. This includes any Shades that were named. As the Nether does not have a day/night cycle, Shades named in the Nether are safe from this.
-Shades are immune to all explosions.
-If, at any time, the Shade finds itself inside a block and is not tracking Steve either because it lost aggro or was caught in some sort of suffocation trap, the Shade would retain its passthrough ability until it paths to the nearest open area that is not too bright.
-It is possible for a Shade to "drown". Since it cannot pass through Water, if Water is dropped on it from the right angles so that it has no way to escape, it will take suffocation damage in the Water.
-All potions have a 1/4 chance of not affecting the Shade, but Fire Resistance will never have any effect.

    Idle movement: Identical to Blaze.

Tracking movement: Identical to Blaze, but also can pass through anything except Bedrock and Water.

Proposed drops: Using current Vanilla Minecraft items, I suggest it should drop Paper with a small chance of dropping a Ghast Tear.

    (Changes in Bold)

Texture: Partially transparent and gray. Exact shape undecided.

Hit Points: 10 HTP (5 Hearts).

Damage idea 1: None, but inflicts a 4 second Wither I effect.
Damage idea 2: 2 HTP (1 Heart) at Easy, +1 HTP for each higher difficulty.

Sounds: Upon targeting, a shrieking sound.

Range: 2 blocks, even through other blocks. The Shade's body will suddenly seem to expand to engulf Steve for an instant before retracting.

    Cooldown: 3 seconds.

Speed: Faster than walking Steve and slower than running Steve (without effects)

Spawn Overworld: Light level 7 or lower, Y-coordinate 32 or lower, no block restrictions (as they don't necessarily spawn on blocks but also hovering in the air) except inside Water
