It's the sacriest time of the year, the day when people tremble in fear! It's Halloween again, and since Mojang hasn't planned a Halloween mod for this year, I MADE ONE! It's called no-holds-barred for a reason: no compromises were made at all! Were you planning on making a mod like this? TOO BAD! Did one of your ideas get used here? TOO SAD! Kingbdogz? I'M SORRY! But the mod is what is is, and that's scary. Now, before you decide to run in fear, there are a few things you should know. Because of course, Halloween Night is a dangerous time, and not all is what it seems to be...
Of course, NO Halloween mod would be complete without this delicious festive treat! Candy can be found throughout the night, and collected for your own enjoyment! It can be carried in large stacks and consumed for one hunger point each. there are five different flavors: watermelon, green apple, lemon, pumpkin, and grape. Even more exciting, they can all be combined into a super-amazing MEGA CANDY! (you'd better appreciate that BBcode because it took a lot of work!)
EDIT: Forgot to mention that all candy removes curses!
This mega candy not only heals 5 hunger points, but also 2.5 hearts! It's a delicious snack that's well worth collecting. But of course, the candy isn't free! You have to go out and find it yourself, but unfortunately, monsters have stolen it! Which monsters? Well, these ones:
That's right, it's a jumpkin - a jumping pumpkin. But jumping isn't all it does! During the night, these ghastly gourds will hide among the hills, disguised as perfectly normal pumpkins. But when you get close, they will give chase! At 7.5 hearts each, thay aren't too frightening. Just don't let them get the best of you. Also, there is one other monster who has stolen the candy:
What's more frightening than a creeper? A Halloween Creeper! These towering giants have glowing faces and hard, crusty orange skin! Even worse, they're INVINCIBLE! Like really, totally impossible to damage! All attacks are useless against them. So the only way to get rid of them is to force them to detonate! But that's okay, because when they do explode, candy will fly everywhere! As you run to pick it all up, you should be careful! There are even more ghastly foes roaming the earth on Halloween Night:
The zombies have suddenly gotten smarter! They now have the ability to dig underground, which changes many things about the way they act! Underground zombies are slower, yes. But in exchange, they are much stealthier, can fit through 1x1 spaces, and take no knockback! Even worse, they have a chance to pop out of the ground right at you! Be very careful when dealing with these crafty corpses, or you might get a face full of zombie! And if you thought zombies were disgusting, there's someone else I should introduce you to:
Even though it's supposed to be halloween, this foul wench keeps showing up to ruin it! Her appearance is disgusting, and her wretched voice is even worse! She just goes around cackling about some joke she can't get over. If you ever see her walking around your world, give her a good pummeling! Watch out though, because we heard that she might have magical powers. She carries around these strange-looking orbs that she can throw at anyone who makes her angry. And if she hits you, there's a good chance she'll lay a curse on you. Oh, did we not tell you about curses? Well here, this is a basic explanation:
Curses are basically the souls of defeated monsters compacted into a small object called a curse orb. Witches have lots of these, and will drop them if they are defeated. If a creature is struck violently with a curse orb, the monsters' souls will haunt that creature for a minute. The curses are all based on a canonical minecraft monster, and there are six in total. Some are worse than others, but none are deadly. This is a brief list of them all:
Zombie Curse: You will be slowed down, and your jump height will be decreased.
Slime Curse: Your inventory will be cosntantly flooded with slime balls.
Spider Curse: Your character will constantly be bumped around the screen.
Creeper Curse: If you swing your weapon too often, the creepers circling around your head will explode.
Ghast Curse: Monsters within 50 blocks of you will gradually walk towards your position.
Skeleton Curse: Your health will be in a constant state of flux, it's like health roulette.
Luckily, eating any piece of candy will quickly remove the curse. Just know that you can't eat candy if you're full! Oh, and these nerdy little kids decided to show up too:
Trick-or-treaters have one thing in mind: candy. In fact, they want it just as much as you probably do. If you find yourself getting a surplus of sugary goodness, give a few out to the trick-or-treaters and you might be rewarded for your efforts. For every kind of candy, there's a type of trick-or-treater who likes it the most. However, they all enjoy mega candy, so you can't go wrong with giving those out. Just be careful: if you (for some sick reason) decide to kill a trick-or-treater, an angry monster will show up to get revenge.
And there's one last thing you should know about. There is one kind of exceedingly rare monster. It's a ghoul that is only told about in fairy tales. It's said to be able to control other mobs, and it also has been said to be invisible. If you do somehow find this mythical creature, there is one thing you should know. It can drop certain evil compounds and energy that can be used to create a strange technological device. This is all the information we have about it:
And with that... Have a very ghostly Halloween Night!
- This mod is for Single-Player mode only.
- There are no compatibility issues with any other mod, it should work with anything.
You must first install Risugami's Mod Loader before this mod will work. Please do not attempt to install old versions of the mod loader into the 1.8.1 client.
To hear the custom sounds, you must also install Risugami's AudioMod.
Once you've successfully installed the three requirements above, you must drag all of the ".class" files and the "nhbh" folder into your Minecraft jar. Remember to leave the image files in the nhbh folder, and drag the folder itself into the jar. The "RESOURCES" folder does not go in the jar, it is instead meant to be merged with the "resources" folder in your .minecraft directory.
Risugami's ModLoader and AudioMod - Required to run the mod.

Sep 16, 2011Posted in: MapsOVERVIEW
This is a a very early version of a survival map I created. What makes this map unique, is that your primary enemy wont be mobs, but rather the hunger bar. You are provided with limited rations, but your goal should be to find a way to create more food. Your only hope of survival is a rock in the middle of the ocean, surrounded by very deep water, and a small liferaft. Once i get this map right, it shouldn't be a test of if you can survive, but how long.
Another aspect about this map that i really like is that the first 30 seconds of the map heavily influence your chances of survival. Basically, you start off on a plane that is going down. As soon as you press the button to begin the map, you have 30 seconds to gather what resources you can from the plane, and jump out before it explodes. certain items are essential to survival, others make it easier.
You are a passenger aboard Minecraft Airlines Flight 1011. As you are flying above an ocean, your plane mysteriously loses power in both engines. With the plane being torn apart, you grab what you can from the plane and jump out. Desperately swimming in the middle of the ocean, you spot a bright orange liferaft. as you swim toward it, you notice it is washed up against a rock. You pull yourself up on the rock, your only hope of survival.
- You may not break blocks inside the aircraft, but you may as soon as you exit
- You may not loot chest or leave the plane until you press the starting button
- Once you press the button, you have 30 seconds to gather supplies from the plane
- The plane WILL explode after 30 seconds, so dont waste time
- The goal of this map is to make your food last and survive as long as possible
- Try and locate the sunken aircraft of Flight 492
- Play on HARD, this is essential, don't worry about fighting monsters, not many spawn, you need to play on hard so that the hunger bar drops at a challenging rate
- You may travel to other islands, however, there arent any other islands that are part of the map right now
- TIP: Take a second look in the cockpit
Remember, this is a very early version of the map, and it doesn't contain much as of yet, however in later versions I would like to add more secrets and dungeons. Also, if you have any good ideas for this map, please let me know, or feel free to build it in the map and send me the map. Also please leave some feedback, this map should be extremely hard to survive indefinitely on, so if you think its too easy, let me know. Post how many days you survive, if you do well, I'll add it to the post.
Also, thank you so much to mextremel for letting me use his Boeing 727 model in the map.
Check out his awesome airport here: Click Me. Or else.

GR-7 Security DivisionHello Professor Tagonist.
Begin Orders Transmission
You are being sent to the mining station beyond Tarsus 3 to locate and apprehend wanted criminal Dr. Earl S. Testudine. Due to the nature of his crimes he is considered armed and dangerous, and any force you deem necessary may be used against him.
The mining station is sparsely populated and only capable of supporting a few conscious workers at a time. If Testudine is not awake when you arrive, enter cryogenic stasis until he is next scheduled to awaken.
Your operative contact in the region is Captain Schmidt, he will coordinate with you on this and have further instructions.
Deep Space Turtle Chase is an adventure and puzzle game that uses Minecraft’s engine as a creative “blank slate” -- members and friends of The Voxel Box have spent more than three months shaping it into something extraordinary, and we think you’ll agree... it was totally worth the wait!
The map is available for both single player and online co-op with up to four players. You’re able to fully explore the entire space setting, solve challenging puzzles set throughout space, and experience some of the finest Minecraft architecture you’ve ever seen.
Here’s a sneak peek:
What started as a cool idea from CaptainSparklez for a space themed Minecraft adventure map using our original Deep Space texture pack has evolved into a whole ‘nother beast. Using the client mod MAtmos the game now has evented music and sounds, taking it to a new level of immersion with an awesomely spacey ambiance.
Combine that with an all-star cast of Minecraft geeks doing voice narration, customized soundscapes that will take you into orbit, PhD-level redstone engineering, and the collective talent of artists that call The Voxel Box home — and you’ve got something that isn’t just an adventure map.
It’s something special, and to experience it as intended you can’t just download it and stick it in your Minecraft folder. We’ve made it super easy to get up and running though!
You’re just eight simple steps away from a painless game install:
1) Backup your Minecraft data folder!
2) Download the latest version here and extract the folder somewhere.
3) Also download MCNostalgia and extract to the folder.
4) Open Minecraft, go to options, then force update to get a clean Minecraft.jar
5) Following the steps on the MCNostagia page Downgrade your minecraft version to Minecraft Beta 1.8.1.
6) Use the .exe (for windows) or .jar (for linux/mac) in the Deep Space Turtle Chase installer to modify your client
7) Open Minecraft again, select the Deep Space Turtle Chase texture pack
8) Go to Single Player, select the map, and enjoy!
Keep in mind that the map is designed to be a true adventure game!
You will need to be alert and observant of your surroundings and be prepared to explore the vastness of space and alien worlds to progress. If you're expecting "do this look at that now do this" style gameplay, you're going to be disappointed and probably won't enjoy Deep Space Turtle Chase very much.
If you've got a good eye for detail, an eager and curious inner explorer, aren't afraid of challenging puzzles and pitfalls (and the greater sense of accomplishment conquering them gives you), and you have a sense of humor -- this map will probably be the most fun you've had with Minecraft in a long time.
What are the rules?Set your difficulty to Peaceful, don't destroy or place anything but the green Power Plugs (redstone torches)... and remember your training!
GR-7 Security Division
Good luck, and have fun!
Update 10/18: We released DSTC v1.2 last night with a few changes, Among them:
All beds are now working as intended! (Some beds are broken in the ares on purpose, this is not a bug.)
Turrets outside the digsite will now arm when master unlock code is entered
and I fixed the lava-run tube and lava-jump course underground to be less rage-inducing!
Update 10/17: We released DSTC v1.1 last night, tons of bugs have been squashed. If you're still having trouble after downloading the new version, please let us know.
The crash on game start bug may be caused by Minecraft freaking out about player position being inside a block. It doesn't happen for everyone, and doesn't happen if you stay still until the cryopod melts and releases you.
All issues with custom sounds for Mac clients should be resolved now. Please make sure you're using the latest version (the installer now works for all platforms).
If you still can't play, this may work (thanks yiker!):
When you force updates in Minecraft, the Soundfiles aren't extracted at first, you have to trigger them once, until they can be found in your .minecraft/resources Folder. If they aren't triggered and you run the installer, triggering a sound will let Minecraft try to extract a sound, which probably interferes with the mods and lets it crash.
To prevent this, after forcing an update in Minecraft you have to run around in any normal vanilla map and trigger all the different sounds, for walking on different materials swimming etc. After that, you can run the installer and it will not crash.
Crashed while trying to play this on your hacked, unpaid client? That's too bad.
If all else fails, you can download the vanilla DSTC package and extract the world file and texture pack into your Minecraft folder. It's way better with the mods, though!
If you really must play DSTC using a 1.0.0 or 1.1 client use this updated vanilla version: Deep Space Turtle Chase Vanilla v1.2.1.
