Microsoft probably didn't see much need to keep supporting it. Not a lot of people play it (AFAIK), which lead to few people buying stuff, plus it was released in the worst possible time (literally 3-6 months before COVID). Also they might've hoped it was something much bigger, same thing with Hololens and whatever other AR project they're involved with. That or it was just an experiment.
...IDK ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Just throwing out speculation.
I feel like it´s shutting because of COVID. It was released at the worst possible time and honestly, it´s kinda sad. I really wanted to try this out but I haven´t been able to because of COVID.

This honestly kinda seems like baiting. They gave us an explanation over on their youtube channel. Personally I'm fine with waiting for the next part of the update, it just shows that they don't want to release something half-baked. I feel like the only reason they didn't push back the entire update is because the community would've lost it.

I've seen a few players use Aternos server hosting, but I'm wondering if it's safe. I know this seems like a really stupid question but bare with me. I've played on one of these servers with a friend, but the fact that it's free seem kinda shady to me.

Not a fan of this idea :/

You're literally in a giant sandbox, you can do whatever you think of, but if you really want some advice, I would farm animals, find some villages, create an enchanting table, go to the nether to find blazes and nether warts, kill endermen to get their eyes, combine the eyes with the blaze powder from the nether and travel to The End. And of course, build a huge base with a storage area, a smelting area, a nice bedroom, an area for my farms which I can automate later on with redstone. If you're struggling when building I recommend checking out Grians build school videos on Youtube for some inspiration and tips as well as experimenting building in a creative world.

Another thing, my router can obviously handle wireless because we were playing modded just a few days ago. I really don't know what to do here.

I'll give it a shot. But why would it work with the other world?

We're both wireless (not using wired because we have an awkward setup) and using the same connection. We're literally a few feet away.

So I decided to start a new world with my brother on 1.8.9, but I've had one of the most bizarre experiences ever in my almost ten years of playing. Basically, I opened the world and for whatever reason he would be able to move around for a few seconds before the whole world would freeze for him. I could still see him moving around but he couldn't see any changes in the world. We both checked our firewalls to see what the problem was but so far nothing has helped and I really don't know what to do now. Also for some reason, as soon as I open the world, I can see my internet go offline in the corner of my screen and even my browser says there's no internet. Eventually we decided to test out a creative world and that seemed to work perfectly fine. Zero lag and I didn't lose connection to the internet. What is happening here, and how/can I fix this?

No offense, but this is just terrible info.

I miss those first few months of my first world. Back when I thought Herobrine and Israphel were real. I think that's just it though. The game felt mysterious for a lot of us, especially for those who went in blind, but that's what gave the game charm. You could argue it's lost some of it, but it's still there. Imagine this, you're a new player, you just bought the game today, you start a new world, going in completely blind, and you find a broken nether portal. You would probably be kinda confused. The same could go for the strongholds and the ocean monuments.

Personally, I play a bit of both. Roblox can be really fun to play with my little bros. Why not just play both whenever you feel like it?. Btw, you shouldn't let others tell you what you should be playing. Play what you want!

I know this is kinda late but TLDR, no. There is a continuation patch that adds newer textures allowing you to play on newer versions of Minecraft, but there hasn't been an update to the patch in almost half a year now. It's sad to see Painterlypack go, but we may never see Painterly pack for 1.16 and beyond.

IMO Minecraft is a pretty hard game to learn, 10 years ago, it was even harder. Before Minecraft entered the beta, items didn't have names, which meant players had to figure out what items were. Also, back then there weren't as many resources as there are today, 2011 was a simpler time. I remember I learned the basics of the game by watching tutorials on the old Minecraft website and by watching the first Yogscast survival series. The game has gotten easier over time. People started to create more tutorials on how to survive, build and create redstone machinery. Of course there's also the recipe book added a few years ago, which helps new player learn how to craft new blocks or items.

I followed your instructions but for whatever reason it didn't change the cave generation. I created one world in 1.8_Modded and another in vanilla 1.8 with the same seed. I then went to the same cave I did on both worlds and there was no difference. Why is this happening? If it helps, I skipped step 8 because I couldn't find the "downloads" in the JSON file.

Thanks for the help!
