They probably dropped doing a 1.10 update since they started doing the pre-releases. Then, Minecraft reverts back to version 1 when it hits the full release. And yes, he will continue updating after the fact. He has said this many times.
So, Pre-releases are awesome. They give the fans that want quicker updates what they want, and other players can still have their bigger, more stable updates when the time comes.
It hearkens back to the old Seecret Friday Update!!! days, when he would update every week. Now, that may sound magical, but the updates were really, really unstable. Like, game destroyingly unstable. But, things worked out. Then Minecraft shifted towards longer updates with more content and stability (which it has), and people naturally complained.
So, is everyone happy about the pace of the updates now? Can we not complain about the speed?
So, everytime notch rolls out a terrain generator update, there are always complaints about how you guys have to make a new world to see these new features, and how there is an ugly border. It was especially bad with the recent updates considering their proximity to eachother. So here is my question.
Would you guys want Mojang to never update the terrain generator again?
Notch has stated that he will continue working on the game well past release, so would your rather he update other areas instead of the terrain generator, or would you be fine with needing to remake worlds down the road? And no, I'm not trying to be satirical, or poke fun at complainers. I'm curious.
One thing, so minor that I would not care if it didn't ever make it. The ability to efficiently work under water or lava in creative. Better movement and vision under the lava.
Actually, a lot of these people are right. Notch did say not to get too attached to your saves, and it is a work in progress. I wouldn't get too worked up over this.

And, if you really need to reskin them, give them hats to compensate for their foreheads. Problem solved. Stop complaining.

While that is certainly an option, let's disregard that for the sake of discussion, eh?

They are not mutually exclusive concepts, friend.

And, most ideas people have for ores are either silly or redundant. But, if you have something good...

You know, that was probably intentional. Sand is rather ubiquitous.
