posted a message on HD texture fix [Feb22: 1.3 support, fixed compass]
Hi, I got this to work before 1.3 hit, and I loved the better grass and better lighting. Now, however, better grass isn't happening when everything else (water, lava, etc.) works fine, and I can't for the life of me remember what I did before to include better grass. Halp? =)

Hi, this is amazing. I love the texture pack. Reminds me a little of windwaker in a way, and that brings back memories. One problem, however. I used the MC Patcher, but there's no option to fix the sidegrass in the biomes! =( Can anyone tell me how to fix the sidegrass?

The reason SeaNanners and X are so popular is because they are known for doing other things. They both work for Machinima and have been posting other games for a long time. They're pro. The reason "little guys" don't get as many views is because generally people don't want to watch some 12-yeal-old scrub play a game that they can play better themselves. Now that both SeaNanners and X have stopped making minecraft videos, there's a chance for the little guys to get some views. But you're going to have to emulate X and SeaNanners with wit, professionalism, risk-taking, clear speech, and a good knowledge of them game. If you don't have that, people won't like you as much as the pros.

I don't see how this is any different than a Yeti other than it has longer arms.

This is actually really cool, it works kinda like spleef, but it involves both placing and removing. Players drop water to form currents, and they can also remove water source blocks to remove currents. Some cheesy play could pop up though, cuz someone could just follow another player and just remove the water immediately after they place it every time.

Yea this is kinda lame. It's the same thing as a cave system.... just above ground. And there's nothing stopping you from just building a simple tower, spotting the treasure spot, and building over the forest to get to it.

posted a message on The current death-spawn mechanic discourages exploration.
Everyone keeps complaining about the spawn mechanic. It's fine EXACTLY how it is. Because you only have a short time before night falls, your first base is going to be near your spawn point. This base will also likely be your biggest base, since you will have it for the longest time. If you ever die, you respawn near this main base.

If you want to explore, you're going to have to use your brain a little bit. Don't haul all of your valuables, run into a dungeon, die, and say the game mechanic is broken because you lost all of your stuff. Choose a place you want to explore. Make sure you know how to get there from your base, and how to get to your base from there using a map or something. Build a new base, build some chests, and store your valuables in there. If you die, you respawn back at your main base. Sure, adventuring is risky. Without the risk, it's not an adventure. You're going to have to take precautions.

Must have mining helmet. Some would argue that it would reduce the need for torches and that being blind sometimes adds to the thrill of the game, but maybe with some sort of primitive battery powering the helmet with a set amount of charge (like the fuel in a powered cart), it would discourage people from just putting on a helmet and exploring a giant cave system. And torches would still be used for keeping mobs away/lighting an area.
