posted a message on [Launcher] Magic Launcher 1.3.4 (mods, options, profiles, news)

Can we have the ability to set Aliases to the saved accounts (for Mojang Accounts) - When you have multiple accounts, remembering which email goes to which account when they are all similar can be confusing... :/

instead of it printing the username, let us write a custom label for that saved password.

posted a message on Change to Banners- Allow any item to be used as a pattern
Those of you not supporting it does not understand the request nor do you understand why you are saying no.

    1) It's ridiculous to say "don't suggest how to improve things in snapshots". That just makes zero sense.
    2) Why does it matter how many textures are made? These are downloaded on-need, so the only resource cost is Mojangs own storage. that is their problem to worry about, not the players/server owners.

However, the main issue with the request is that item textures are controlled by Resource Packs, so it would be limited to vanilla resource pack icons if this was added, but I think it is a good suggestion.

However this thread has helped me learn something new about the system I didn't know, and hoping it fulfills one of my requests.

posted a message on world seeds *CAN* be reverse-engineered
    Quote from JerrryyL

Simple fix: whenever the seed is used by the worldgen, apply a filther to it, sorta like enigma machines. After 8 hours, your software will find the encrypted seed, but finding the original will require a lot more time.
Seeds are designed to always generate the same world when same seed is used.

I can vouch what he is saying is true, and theoretically sound, and proven to work.

posted a message on Is Mojang killing Minecraft?
    Quote from Warpshard

No, whining about it is a disease, which is what the original post is doing. Mainly, the admin in said post.

Is it good to worry about the long-term development in games like Minecraft that are constantly being updated? Yes, but it can extremely easily go into whining. For example, a certain group of forum members were worrying about if the rose was going to come back, but the thread quickly went from "I hope it'll come back" to "Mojang better bring it back!"

I think you misunderstand my post. I am not stating that Mojang isn't adding ANYTHING to SMP, I am argueing that they are spending too much time on Adventure Mode related features.

Now some of these are going to be a baseline for the Mod API feature set, so I understand that, but looking at what has REALLY had major effects on SMP in game "Features".. I see horses.

1.8 was originally hinted to be a survival update with new monsters, yet it wasnt.. that was disappointing.

My main point is every snapshot post on mojang talks about some new command block capability.

What about the 1.8 work to multithread worlds? Last I heard its not in the snapshots - not ready. More time being spent on that would of been really worthwhile - ESPECIALLY since that is a major change needed for the Plugin API!

Or how about completing all of the blocks? Like when new blocks are released, give EVERYTHING, Stairs, Slabs, etc.

How about updating the engine to support placing slabs vertically? How about PROPER furniture? How about fixing problems properly instead of half-assed like Structure Saving?

Structure saving is a perfect example. In its implementation its useless to servers like ours. We now have broken structures for all old chunks leaving me to have to custom implement spawn mechanics.

They could of implemented it properly.

    Quote from Warpshard

Every other day, one of these threads pop up. It's like a disease, that only good members of the community (like VCtheDerp and Winter_Mage) can cure.

Mojang is doing what they feel is best for the game. Will people not like what they put into the game? Of course they will! It's not like removing roses was one of the more downplayed (quote-unquote) 'issues' of 1.7. Anyways, Mojang will put what they want in the game. Unless most every member of the community (the 14,000,000 member community on the PC alone!) agrees on the next feature, we don't have much of a say in what is and isn't added into the game.

Also, if you do not like it, then do not use it. (I know it's overused, but it is quite fitting in topics like this)

People thinking like that is what prevents progress in the world. If noone provides constructive critisism, how will anyone know they could improve?

I am a game designer myself essentially with our server. I fully support the idea of knowing what your doing, but there is a line to draw where you have to at least give your community a chance for feedback, so they have the opportunity to make you change your mind and agree with their input.

If you don't agree with their input still, fine, thats when you do what you were planning to anyways.

This is something i've learned a lot on my own ever since taking over our server. I use to have this super "I know what im doing and they don't" attitude, but when you see someone elses feedback make you change your mind, you realize, listening to your users sometimes is not a bad thing.
    -----------

I genuinely think Minecraft would be a better game and longer term project for the company if they made a few changes, changes that focused more on gameplay and community.

If I wasn't already set in my goals in life I would totally apply for a job on the development team there to help fix things, but my plans are set in life, so my 2nd best option is to at least provide feedback to them instead.

I am not one who sits by idley and let problems go un-noticed. Feedback is key.

We are updated to 1.7.2 and also now use BungeeCord!

Simply connect with "play.emc.gs" and you can switch to all 10 of our servers with the /server command.

Our soon to be major attraction "Dragon Tombs" are next in line for development now!

posted a message on Jump straight to 1.7.4. Rationale?
They update version numbers during snapshots to distinguish better when protocol changes happen.

1.7.3 originally had a protocol change, so 1.7.4 helps ensure users know they can connect to 1.7.2, since it was reverted.

There was a case where SOME 1.7.3 can connect but other versions of 1.7.3 could not, so yes, very rationale.

posted a message on Minecraft server is not working, giving me some Netty Error
    Everything said above is incorrect.

    1) There is no netty option. netty option was a Spigot thing when Spigot introduced netty to minecraft. As of 1.7, netty was implemented as the vanilla network manager. It is no longer optional and is a forced entity
    2) Removing -Xmx is unnecessary, it sets the memory used by the server, which is a sensible thing to do and unrelated to this error
    3) Removing -o has no effect. unrelated to the network engine.

Your issue seems to stem from being unable to open a selector. this is either due to your systems security settings, or some bug in the mc code.

Try changing the port, see if that helps
