Awesome! Love the idea of a tar-moat! Have this, sir:

Doesn't really fit in with the look of minecraft, although they looks awesome. Like the idea, maybe just have them be ghouls, and change the appearance a bit?

Pretty cool, definitely scary. Sounds boss-level in difficulty. Not sure about the lava-drop thing. Lightning seems cool, though.

At A glance, I thought it might be an ogre or cyclops. Might I ask if you could make one of those, too?

Kind of indifferent here. Not a fan of rhinos, but it's kind of neat.

This is kind of iffy. Personally, I rarely carry flint and steel on me and would rather suffocate than be burned by lava. I LOVE the idea, but I'd suggest an aversion to any light. Maybe it wont go near a torch/lantern/glowstone, giving the player some space and time to kill it or get away.
