posted a message on 1.10.2 Support! Map Render/Sharing Website. Help Beta test the new Blockview!
    Quote from ballacraft

i am still experiencing the same problem. i have re-uploaded several archives, exactly as instructed in the OP's last message, all using the latest craftbukkit/minecraft & deleting the old archive first. It has only been successful once, all other uploads have failed, even though they have come from an archive prepared in exactly the same manner.

    please help us :sad.gif:

My users have been getting this as well. Doesn't seem to be a problem with the render, but actually a problem with distributing the render to the map viewer. Somedays it works, some days it doesn't.

    Love this site!

One thing I'd love to see, though, is the ability to disable people from downloading the map. I love how fast the map works on your website, but I'd also like to keep the world as private as possible. :smile.gif:

Also, maybe post the optimal image size for the display picture? It would make creating a properly-sized image much easier.

Has anyone tinkered with this to get it working in multiplayer? I don't mind if both the client AND server need a version installed, as I run a closed-server with a small group of people, but having extra creatures would be awesome.

Just wanted to say congrats to Scaevolus for getting some of his efficient code put into Minecraft's official release today!

Scaevolus, was it this Region code that was used, or some other variant of code you've produced?

posted a message on Minecraft running slow? Scaevolus found a fix!
If you haven't seen MCRegion yet, you need to check it out ASAP. Anyone playing on a laptop will notice a significant improvement. If you're already running the game perfectly, it likely won't change too much.

Basically it fixes the save-file sizes so that it's more compatible with the way harddrives save data. And we're talking HUGE performance increases here.

    BUT...

It's a mod, and as such, gets outdated with each patch. We need to push this to Mojang so they can implement it on their end and make a significant improvement to the game for everyone!

Here's the MCRegion post by Scaevolus:
    http://www.minecraftforum.net/viewtopic.php?f=25&t=120160

And here's the GetSatisfaction topic to get Notch's attention (as this is where he wants all of the bugs/suggestions/praise/reports to go anyways):
    http://getsatisfaction.com/mojang/topics/efficiency_upgrade_to_the_file_save_system_by_scaevolus_seen_in_mcregion

Please go to the GetSatisfaction page and Star it up so that we can get this added.

You've probably already done this (or at least thought of it), but I couldn't seem to find it anywhere.

I've made a topic on GetSatisfaction in hopes that Notch will see it.

No worries, though, Scaevolus! I gave you all the credit and copied your posting about the Regional file format. If you need me to change something, just toss me a PM on here. :smile.gif:

If everyone adds their weight to the topic, it's far more likely that Notch will see it!

Just press the F key and shut off fog. Your game will resume running at ultra-high settings (at least from what I read it would).

I'm still convinced there's a huge bug with lighting that still hasn't been fixed. I find the game lags a LOT at night where there are several light sources, and as soon as the sun comes out, it's perfectly lagless.

Yeah, I get this periodically when I'm mining. It's almost as though it doesn't exist from all but one or two faces. I find if I back up, move so that I see it at an angle (thus, I can see the front and side), and then hit the side at the far edge, it usually works. Not sure why it happens, but it's quite annoying.

Any chance you could post the code for that batch file? Haven't learned the syntax for writing scripts in Windows yet... Thanks!

posted a message on Server STILL not working, after over a month.
Yeah, I'd start narrowing down the problem.

If it's a corrupted world issue, open up your Server settings .txt file and change your World name to something else. This will cause a new world to be generated. That should give you a good indication if the world is corrupted or not.

Get someone on the same network as you (so not through internet) to try and connect to your server (using your local IP). If that works, then it means the server software is fine, and it's an issue with ports. Next is to do as the above poster mentioned and find a way to check your ports. (viewtopic.php?f=1013&t=25110&p=448297#p448297)

If your ports are open, and people still can't connect, try shutting off your Windows Firewall (just to see if they can connect). If it works after you shut the firewall off, you'll have to go in and "Allow" the minecraft server to pass data through the ports (25565 for UDP and TCP).

If all of this is working (server works on local network, ports are open, firewall is off), then my only other guess is that something else is sending data through the same port. I'd try switching the port number (maybe 25566 or something), open those ports up, and see if it works.

Lastly, make sure everyone else has the proper IP address. Not everyone gets a static IP from their home, so your IP can often change, making the ability to host a server almost impossible. You can double-check it here: http://whatismyip.org/

Hopefully one of those leads you in the right direction!

posted a message on Very annoying bug in SMP
This is often an issue of lag on the host's part. We run a multiplayer server, and this only starts to happen when there is about 5+ of us on at once.

Minecraft uses a lot of bandwidth... and I mean a LOT. Often times, a typical internet connection doesn't have a very good upload speed (which is what his connection is using to send you data). When you're in the same chunk as him, it is quick to send the data to you, as it's only sending 1 chunk's worth of data. Once you move into separate locations, it's sending a lot more data, and thus your client is out of sync with the server.

Another thing to check is if he's running the most recent version of the server. Notch fixed a majority of that block-respawning issue a few weeks ago, so might want to double-check this.

My only other suggestion is to find a better connection to host your server on. Sadly, with Minecraft sending so much data (approx. 200 Gb per month for an averagely-used 8-player server), it is expensive to find a host that will allow this much data transfer for a cheap price.

posted a message on Random Craters in SMP - Creeper bug?
We've been having an issue on our server in the last couple of days where massive craters are appearing for no reason.

We're a private server with a limited number of players (maybe 8-9 total, max online at once was 5).

Friend was exploring a new area, logged off, logged back in and noticed a huge crater right beside where he was standing (wasn't there when he logged off, and nobody else has been on the server between this interval).

My theory: Creepers still think a player "exists" after they have logged out, and thus explode wherever they are "standing." So when you come back, there's a huge hole.

Anyone else seeing weird craters, by chance?

posted a message on Help! How do i make a small table?
I don't think it works. You can use a half-stone block, though. Place a dirt block (or whatev), then the half-stone block on top of it. Destroy the first block you placed, and put a fence post under it (in place of the block you destroyed). That's the best I've been able to do for small tables.

Download MCEdit. It allows you to relocate both your character position AND your spawn point. Should be able to salvage your world. :smile.gif:

Make sure you backup your world before editing it.
