A few facts...
1.) After minecrafts initial hype and sandbox experience wore off, people realized the game could only ever reach its potential if enhanced by creativity/ingenuity (which the game was founded on) and thus the modding community began. I don't know of any minecraft SMP server that doesn't have a few mods on it to make it unique above the rest. Who really wants to play straight vanilla minecraft anymore - sorry to say, but it does get old. The only reason it hasn't hit a dead end yet is because Notch has been putting out and promising more content.
2.) Notch hinted a modding API system which was supposedly on the horizon for 1.8 and that never happened. What did happen however, is implementation of existing mods into the core of minecraft (pistons, new lighting engine)... Can anyone say mooch?
3.) Minecraft continually suffers from being written in Java. People who play on 32-bit systems can't even run minecraft with a far render distance because it runs out of memory... This has been a problem since the inception of minecraft and yet Notch makes no effort to port the game to C++. However... He released the portable version of minecraft ported to C++ and now he lets another business port his game to C++ for the XBOX 360... It makes you wonder if Notch really even knows what he's doing or if he's just flying by the seat of his pants from day to day...
Bottom line... This is a PC game made popular by the fans of the game (mods) and has no place being in the console world where big business (microsoft, sony) lords over every transaction... Minecraft has been a game created for the fans, by the fans... Minecraft would be Nothing without its modding community and to further ignore support for it is only going to hurt minecraft in the long run... There will be no modding or texture packs within the XBOX version, just a straight up vanilla version which can't compare in the least to modded versions of minecraft which add endless features to the game which Notch has so conveniently ignored or dare I say "stolen" as he saw fit.
We need to bring minecraft back to the fans... To our obsessive compulsive creations and fantastical imaginations...
I've spoken my peace. G'day.

Can you screen shot it for me?

2.) Also make sure java is in your path variables.

Wow, really?
I shouldn't even bother replying to this.
For starters you could have read my post above yours, with me stating that this wasn't to complain...
Secondly, I was very specific about what I didn't like and it wasn't specifically bugs. It was the fact that bug fixes caused the game to break... I don't mind bugs and in fact expect them because this is, like you said an ALPHA. But what i don't expect, is bug fixes (keyword here is "fixes") to actually break the core game-play.
Reading before you post actually helps your case most of the time, you should look into it... -sarcasm-

I didn't create this thread to complain, but merely to present my own opinion of Notches patches/updates to the game. I love the game, that's why I paid for it and that's why I run my own server for it. It is simply my opinion that his development methodology is in err when it comes to patches/updates and how they break the game. Thus I wanted to share my opinion and hear the opinions of others, on the same subject.
Please don't be quick to judge others just because you have a different viewpoint. Calling people idiots doesn't get your point of view across any better then stating your opinion in a neutral tone. It only degrades their opinion of you.
@djive
I very much appreciated your constructive criticism throughout the thread.
@everyone else
Thanks for all the reply's, I'm glad to know i'm not the only one who feels/believes this way.

I also use mcadmin with hey0 mod.

I don't mind him breaking stuff that doesn't ruin the game play, if that makes sense. But when your fixes end up causing serious crashes from the very object (boats) you were trying to fix... That's another issue. Not to mention for some reason the rendering of the world is 100x more laggy. No doubt because of the new animation algorithm he's using, which he mentioned on his twitter.

haha, yeah, I hear that. But that being said, i'm glad he's in active development of the game regardless of his methodology. I must say I enjoyed your thoughts, haha.

I did logout while in a boat and when I logged back in, all that happened was I fell through my boat lol, which isn't so bad... I couldn't reproduce the duplicate you were talking about.
EDIT
Wow, I got it to work... If I crash the game by boating to the edge of the world and logout. When I log back in, there's me... haha. I'm looking at myself lol.

Not expecting a response from notch, haha. There's not even a guarantee that he even looks at these forums. I just want to hear about what other users think. We post here to get others feedback and that's the only reason i'm posting. Above all, i'm not necessarily complaining as much as i'm suggesting a different approach to his current methodology for development and release...
I think a lot of us would agree (given current events) that his priorities are a bit skewed, but to each his own.
I will add this...

Instead of releasing as fast as he can, I think a lot of the users here would appreciate some time taken for the testing on his part before release, EVEN if it costs us an extra week for updates to come out. I personally feel that breaking your game with updates is not good development practice...
List of now (known) new issues with the SMP:
Blocks re-appearing after being destroyed.
Increased world loading lag (which was previously fixed in the last update, but now broken again)
World does not render when traveling in a boat, which is why you can reach the edge and crash the game.
When you log out in a boat/minecart, there is a duplicate of you in it when you come back.
Unexplainable delay movement while traveling in a boat.
Your thoughts?

Spawning in general, I agree needs to be tweaked creeper and cow alike, but I want to push for a more efficient light source as well, whether that be a lantern or light bulb. This way Notch can keep the idea of more monsters spawning in darker areas (which is a good idea), but of course not at its current frequency...

I couldn't have said it better myself, though I gave 5 for effort/time. So much time was spent dealing with new business responsibilities, ddos attacks and constant community interaction over twitter.
