It was rather deliberate. I forget which Minecraft version was about to drop, but I knew it would make some major changes that would affect my challenges. So I was going to start over. So... kaboom! Just to see what happened.

Amazing to see that this is still being posted on, four years on.
I haven't been playing much Minecraft these days myself. I've been pondering coming back to this challenge at some point. Granted I'd be starting all over. Karak Azgal had an unfortunate encounter with lots of TNT. The sad part is I didn't think to record it. My other challenge worlds have been deleted as well.
If I start again, I think I may do the Elf Challenge. It seems like it may be easier to do now, without having to find a jungle, with the dark oak forest as well as the ability to raise "redwood" style spruce trees.
Jul 30, 2013So it's been a while since I've said anything on here. So updates:Posted in: Survival Mode
- All Human Challenges: Indefinite hold.
- Elven Challenge: Indefinite hold.
- Dwarf Challenge: Indefinite hold.
Yup. Everything is on indefinite hold. I might be starting a brand new Elven Challenge - on Hardcore, as a Let's Play.
But, I do have a revised YouTube tour of what I've done with my Dwarven City. So here goes:
Jan 17, 2013Welp. So I've been working on my primary challenge. I should at some point keep track of which challenges are active and at which stage. Heh.Posted in: Survival Mode
That said, I planned on having a full surprise for the completion of Stage 3 (since it has taken so long to do...) by giving a video tour of the challenge thus far. However, I'm still tinkering with the video recording, so I needed a good guinea pig. Enter Karak Azgal, my Dwarf challenge.
Here is a video of the challenge thus far, under the spoiler:
Really? All I had to do is post the link as a URL and it automatically embeds it? Gah. ::shakefist::
Some additional commentary about the video:
- I do not play at such a low quality. It was reduced as I knew that I would be losing resources to the recording software. I'm going to try to increase the quality a little at a time until I am happy with the frame-rate I am getting. I may also consider starting to use Optifine.
- I like the default texture pack. It's not as fancy as some others, but it doesn't take up too much resources and it doesn't have a door that blocks my view. ;-D
- Hopefully I'll be able to have audio commentary when I run my tour of Stage 3 of my Human Challenge.
- Any other suggestions on the video would be awesomesauce. I might redo the video if I get quality increased and commentary added. :-D Also if anyone knows of some open source/ free video processing software so I can edit and such, let me know. :-D
Dec 18, 2012Aelis_Lleowyn posted a message on You end up exploring and find yourself hopelessly lost.I do what Mitch Hedberg suggests when lost in the woods. I build a house. I was lost, but now I live there. I have seriously improved my predicament.Posted in: Survival Mode
And then if I find my old pad, I just build a road between them.
Dec 8, 2012Awesome. I think I might check this out in the new Snapshot.Posted in: Seeds
Update: Okay, so after a quick cursory glance at the underground here in creative mode. Holy crap. There's enough cave down there to keep you busy for a long, Long, LONG, *LONG* time. Without having to do too much mining vs spelunking, there are a couple of easily accessed veins of diamonds I found. Iron is easy to mine early on. Gold is found easily too. The only two things lacking in this seed to make it perfect is emerald and villagers... and frankly you don't need those that badly.
Dec 8, 2012Requisite update time:Posted in: Survival Mode
Human Challenge 1 - Stage 3 to be finished before the end of the year. By Christmas if really good.
Human Challenge 2 - Dropped.
Human Kingdom Challenge 1 - Yes, 1. This one is the one with daily narration. On hold.
Elf Challenge - On hold.
Dwarf Challenge - Slow going. LOTS of mining to be done.
Tekkit Server Challenge - On hold until the server owner brings it back up.
Human Kingdom Challenge 2- Thaumacraft and ExtraBiomes XL modded. Stage 1 Finished. Waiting for Stage 2 before posting pictures. Like Challenge 1, this one is being done with doubled building requirements. Unlike Challenge 1, I am not doing a daily narration.
Finally, Human Challenge MCX360 - On hold until my buddy and I get caught up on The Walking Dead.
Nov 27, 20121st World:Posted in: Survival Mode
MCX360 Version - Started playing it at a buddy's house. First time with the game. (Bought it for the PC the very next day...) Started building a defensive area so that we could start doing stuff. Then I went exploring. Eventually got ganked by a skeleton and my stuff was lost before I got back to it, including my free map. Lost and irritated, I decided to build a tower where I was at. Eventually built a skyway to my friend's base back at spawn. Built underground base below tower. Moved camp. Built an in-mountain home. Then an underground house in the caves my friend found. Then we built an underground ecosystem ala Genesis Device. Then moved camp again. Then they update the 360 version and we started a new world.
PC Version (1.2.5) - Still have the save. Built the Castle of Ordeals (Final Fantasy 1 for you youngin's) just off the coast, including placing dirt in the water to build the ground it sits upon. Went with one tile = one block (Would do 5:1 in the future...) Then destroyed my safe house in the nearby mountain... including removing said mountain. Then after that was all done, I travelled about 2km west and built a nice vacation home on a deserted isle with a private lagoon... that I turned into a pool... Then I moved on to a new world.
Nov 3, 2012Current situation on challenges:Posted in: Survival Mode
Human 1 - On hiatus until all mods are updated to 1.4.2 (Or 3 after next week. :-P) I really want the cobblestone walls for my noble houses.
Elf - Meh. On hiatus until I get the mood to do crap with it.
Dwarf - Still on stage 2. See my previous post for my to do list.
Human 2 (Aka Hard Mode) - Gone. The server that I was working on apparently is down. So I don't know if I'll ever get back to it.
Human 3 (Aka Journal Mode and Kingdom mode) - On hiatus until I feel like playing that one again. Recording every day is tedious work.
MCX360 HC - Hah! Brand new challenge. Trying the human challenge (It's my favorite, what can I say?) on the XBox version of Minecraft. There are going to be a few changes, and I don't know if I'll be able to screenshot it.
Tekkit Server HC - Since 2 is gone. And a friend started a Tekkit server, I decided to run this over there. I've pretty much decided that nothing with the Tech stuff can be done until the redstone stage has been reached. And it is here that I have updates:
So without further ado:
Welcome to my village. In the water. Not the Merlock challenge. But I did like the houses on stilts that Ghost Warlock did. So, houses on stilts. The houses themselves might get a makeover to look more like something that would be supported by stilts. In other words, more wood, less stone.
The requisite interior shots of each house showing that there are, indeed, three rooms per. Complete with bed.
The farm. It's 4x5 and well, wasn't that hard to do without a bucket, when in the water like this.
Finally, the required resources. Yeah, a lot of cobble. I have a quarry on the mainland as well as a mine. But the mine doesn't get that much use due to a connection to an abandoned mineshaft that I wasn't about to explore... Until now. Hooray for being able to wear iron armor!!!
And the mainland. I'm actually about 2000 - 2500 blocks south of the spawn location. Which works for me. Less potential interference from everyone else.
Oct 27, 2012Dwarf challenge is fun. I'm lighting up the country side at night now so that I can safely gather my animals I will need later.Posted in: Survival Mode
Still working on stage two. I have one more mining hut to build, and the tavern. I need to start a second tree farm (as I had only expanded my original tree farm to handle eight trees, so I still need a three tree tree farm. I think I'll just expand the original to 12 trees. Won't be that hard to do. Mineshaft has hit bedrock. As for the roads... Well... easier said than done. I have two choices here - pave the way with stone slabs or replace all the cobble I've placed to fix holes with smooth-stone and use cobble. I lean strongly towards the stone slab option.
Then I still need the 16 TNT and the stack of logs. I have three boxes of cobble so I think I'm good on that.
As for my other challenges? Meeeh... I have to wait for some mods to be updated to 1.4.2 and then I am going to apply the update so I can have cobble walls for my nobles in my primary human challenge.
Oct 16, 2012'Fraid I don't Wulfe. I've just been using Notepad.Posted in: Survival Mode
Also, I've been quiet on this forum because I haven't been working on my City Build stuff lately.
Though I am doing one on my friend's X360 version. Sadly I won't be able to post screenies though. :-(
Other than that... no real updates on any of them. :-( I'm kinda' waiting for 1.4 on my main one for the cool cobblestone fences. Which will look better for my noble houses.
In the meantime... I uh... don't even have anything to post.
