    Yes and no. Yes, they would be made of metal/iron/steel, but they would also be steep in the sense that they would take up a 1x1x2 space (like the player) and allow you to climb a given height in half the horizontal distance of normal stairs.

    If someone can point me towards instructions on how to tell the game how the player interacts with a block, I might try making it myself (but I'd need an artist).

    I'm working on a ship based off the USS Wasp (LHD-1), and I've hit a bit of an aesthetic snag with deck transitions. Since the boat's made of metal, the stairs don't look right with the rest of the ship. What I'd like is a metal stair block that allows 2 blocks of vertical travel for each horizontal block, with an HD texture (I'm using an x256 texture pack).

    More OT, I think if whales were to be added in closer-to-life scale hunting them should be an equally grand endeavor. First, some sort of block-grid entity system (which has been discussed to death, search "custom boats") would need to be put in place so whaling ships could be built. Second, we would need a harpoon of some sort. Personally, I would like to see a thrown model, as well as a more powerful harpoon launcher that functions like an aim-able dispenser (harpoon + gunpowder (+ wool?) = harpoon shell, perhaps).

    If you aren't going to mine anyway, you might as well just go into MCedit and make a flat surface. If you intend to actually play survival, then you shouldn't ever take out the caves.


    One could argue that removing caves would make ore harder to get, since you won't encounter open pockets with exposed minerals.

    EDIT: It's related to the patcher. Get the updated patcher and it works.

    This is the mod you're looking for. Everything that gives off light when placed also gives off light when you're holding it, and when it's sitting on the ground as an item (ex: throw a torch in a hole to see how deep it is).
