Now its starting to look like how I would imagine the "Ways" would look.
For those of you wondering: Read "The Wheel of Time" series.

Here I will post the process of how I sprite textures, by making a texture pack myself and showing you the individual steps. So, as for now, this only has 1 texture, that being Wooden Planks. I will continue this, and if you want to see a certain texture first, just comment it.
Step 1 : So we start out with a blank canvas, as always.
Step 2 : Then we'll outline where the defined lines should be.
Step 3 : Now, we just get the fill tool, and fill in the basic colors.
Step 4 : Time to get out the brush! I set the opacity to 50 and just shaded in random places.
Step 5 : Honestly, that looked reaaaly dirty. So, lets blur a bit.
Step 6 : And now, we define the lines again.
Step 7 : OH NOES. Tiles are veery BAD.
Step 8 : This is nothing a bit of smudging can fix C:
Step 9 : This is what it looked like. Looks like it's not shaded....
Step 10 : Let's cheat. Use the NOISE TOOL!!!
Suggest other textures?
I would like to see how you do Gravel. Always a pain to find something decent when it comes to that block.

So, I think my account WAS hacked. My minecraft client it always displaying the "illegal copy" air message. ITS MY ACCOUNT!!! Ahem, I have never given out my password, nor my username (even though it has been seen on servers). I have even reset my password 3 times. The message will not go away... Any ideas?
OH YEA! I did go to the support page and followed the instructions but did not find any of the needed "proof" to get my account reset... Also, I only have 1 computer, it is the only computer I've ever used that mas my info on it.
Here are my ideas. Could it be a result of the recent mod i installed? (SPC) Could it be that my PC is somehow logging me in twice? Hacker? Someone trying to mess with me? Spywhere? Other virus? I have no idea whats going on.
Minecraft.net is down. It can't validate your account, so its going to be all buggy till it comes back up.

Yes, I used to run my Small Server and it used ~90 Mb with a couple people on, and now it uses ~150 Mb even with nobody on. It used to use %50 if my CPU with me and some friends, but now, uses %75 - %90 of my CPU, I had another Server, but it is no longer powerful enough. (I use old PCs with upgraded RAM and CPU, not a Mac. Macs would probably be more powerful than mine.
I do the same. I got an old Dell Dimension from work and stuck an extra gig stick into it and set the .bat file to use 1536 of 2gbs :tongue.gif: Like I'll never need that, haha.
I was at about 40-50% usage running the straight JAR. But, after the bat file, it went up to 98% free. Then 1.6 came out, dropped me down to around 85%-92%... With more frequent drops on the clients and overall world rendering issues. These fixed with a quick reconnect, but regardless, a pain in the ****.

I used IKVM before moving from a VPS to a dedicated server. It reduced the memory usage by 50% and I noticed it's not as CPU intensive as JRE. The only negative result I noticed is that a couple popular plugins do not work with it. Here's the link that got me started.
Thats a nice little setup. I run Vanilla so no worries on the add-ons. (Its a private server, 5 users on max)
Now. I use a simple .bat to run MC from DOS and allocate more mem. The cool thing is that it runs the GUI as just a front-end. Curious on whether IKVM still will show the server GUI? I don't much care for staring at DOS :tongue.gif:
If IKVM runs this better then you sir will have saved me some money upgrading the RAM. Thanks
May 27, 2011So yeah... Noticed after the patch that my server (running it nogui&gui) uses quite a bit of memory. View distance is at standard, I've allocated 75% of my memory (1500ish MB)... Still having load issues, lag issues and general client side crashes resulting from crappy server performance.Posted in: Server Support and Administration
Honestly, short of physically upgrading the memory... Any other suggestions?
Please discuss any tricks or tips you guys have found to work well to increase your server performance.
(PS. I think the new overhead is a result of the server keeping track of the maps and the nether.)

I take breaks. I haven't played more then 10 hours since 1.5 came out. Been playing minecraft about as long as the OP. It's good to play other games, get some inspiration, and comeback with a different plan.
Addition: I feel rejuvenated after forgetting about MC for a bit, and finding out they updated! It's awesome.
