posted a message on ALL my items are gone
Ever single item out of every chest, furnace and out of my inventory is gone after last snapshot. All I did was switch profiles from one to the other because the font in the texture pack I was using looked weird after I had the snapshot installed. I turned the texture pack back to default and all my items are still gone.

Thank you for fixing that minimal amount of bugs, Mojang. Really helped.

    Quote from Swimmer1929

Edit the profile and for the game directory, change it to something like:

    C:\Users\Your_User\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft\versions\Profile_Name_Here

    Thank you, Swimmer1929.

posted a message on Stupidest Thing You Did In Minecraft
Two significant--and separate--times come to mind that changed how I play Minecraft, the first of which is why I now call myself "Seargent Dumbass" when I screw something up.

    1. Post-Release World

Before the official release, I managed to find myself a save file that was beyond anything I had ever encountered before and still haven't to this day. This particular save file had a small forest-type area surrounded by cliffs and a small lake at one end that was connected to a single-block hole in the cliffs that was the start of the LARGEST CAVE I HAVE EVER FOUND. Over time, I built myself the most beautiful home I have ever done, mined out the area to incorporate a town complete with a rail system and shops complete with a 6-block high Cobblestone wall around the area perimeter. Some time after my first introduction to the Nether, I decided it would be a cool idea to put a layer of Netherrack on top the wall then set it on fire, thus keeping spiders out and looking awesome as hell.

I got the layer complete and started setting fire to it. Around the 4th or 5th block I had noticed that it was setting fire to the masses of trees I had planets so close together that you could not see the ground level from the top of the cliffs for the leaves. I couldn't stop the flame in time and it ended up setting fire to my ENTIRE FOREST as well as every tree within a few miles.

I am no longer allowed to use fire in my projects.

    2. Never Dig Straight Down

THE #1 RULE of Minecraft broken in a way that I thought it would never be possible for it to have any repercussions but, unfortunately, did.

I had just been down to a massive cave system that went all the way down to Bedrock and was on my way back to the surface with all my diamonds, lapis lazuli, emeralds, etc etc. when I noticed at the end of one of the cave's branches was a block of coal I had missed. Keep in mind, I was so close to the surface that if I had not gone this way I would have immediately seen the sun(according to my compass). I stood directly on top of this block of coal and mined it and what happened next was so unexpected that I literally sat at the death screen for 5 minutes in befuddlement. When the coal block was mined, I fell. Straight. Down. Into an underground ravine 30 blocks below the surface and was unable to retrieve my inventory in time.

    NEVER. DIG. STRAIGHT. DOWN.

You can actually do that already. Change the .minecraft directory for each profile. I don’t see the point, unless you didn’t know that.

    I did not know this.

posted a message on Post-Login Profiles Having Separate Save Files
I don't feel like I have to explain much here as it is pretty self-explanatory. Having separate save files per profile would make having more than one person in a household playing Minecraft a whole lot more secure and if you did want the same save on more than one profile all it needs is a copy/past in the .Minecraft folder.

Still doesn't make Horses/Mules/Donkeys any more useful since we still have to find a dungeon that may or may not have a saddle in one of it's chests in order to ride one and you're basically screwed if your horse dies.

Why remove the recipe for creating saddles? I've been playing Minecraft since Alpha and have only found a handful of dungeons myself so why include Horses at all if the means to control one is ridiculously annoying? And what about if your Horse dies? Find another saddle? Screw that, I'm not downloading this new snapshot.

posted a message on HUGE CPU Usage
Idling my computer uses 3% of my CPU and that's with Malwarebytes Antimalware and Steam running in the background but if I start Minecraft it gets bumped up to anywhere between 70 and the high 90s which really puts some strain on trying to do anything else while playing like listening to music or watching a movie.

Now, I do use a 32x32 texture pack and have pretty much everything on Minecraft at it's best with the exception of "Fancy" graphics but lowering things for better FPS doesn't do anything for my CPU. Admittedly I don't have Minecraft modded for any performance-enhancing because modding is still a pain in the tookus to get working and I have done the thing with java where you increase the amount of memory it stores or uses.

Is there anything I can do to fix this or is it just a pretty common thing?

posted a message on Tome of Knowledge
First off: Tome of Knowledge can only be crafted, it cannot be found. On with the...topic..!

The premise behind this being leveling has become quite easy since the past couple of patches and this ends up with the player carrying around 20+ levels before having an enchanting table. Yes, you can spend them repairing things on the Anvil but if you're using more than the required Stone/Iron/Gold/Diamond it takes to craft the tool you're making then you're better off just making a new one.

So, the Tome of Knowledge is crafted as such:

First you must make an Awkward Potion.
Placing the Awkward Potion into the Crafting Table will enable an "Bottle 'O Enchanting" option that requires 10 levels to create but unlike it's creative counterpart it will not release those levels upon thrown.
With the Bottle 'O Enchanting you use two books to make an Inert Tome.
Placing the Inert Tome into the Enchanting Table will enable a "Tome of Knowledge" option that requires 10 levels to create.

Now that you have your Tome of Knowledge you can open it with right-clicking while it's equipped and this will open up an interface. An empty tome will only have one enabled option: Deposit Knowledge. "Depositing Knowledge" will store a maximum of 30 levels into the tome for safe keeping in which case the current amount of levels stored is displayed. After that you may store the tome some place safe until you wish to "Withdraw Knowledge" which removes the full amount of levels from the tome for your use.

Attempting to store levels into another Tome will prompt a "You already have a Tome of Knowledge." message that removes the use of making more than one, thus keeping the player from stock piling unlimited levels.

Should also note that having levels stored in a tome does not keep you from gaining levels.

    Too complicated?
    Unbalanced?
    That's for you to decide.
