I meant any AMD drivers you have installed, which should be present in Control Panel -> Uninstall a Program.

Epikal, thank you so much. I'm not sure how, but something was preventing me from installing the correct AMD drivers and that Driver Sweeper did the trick. Thank you very much for helping me with this! To you other guys that are having this problem, it seems like everything else that I was able to find pointed towards graphics drivers. You may not have the exact problem that I did, but I hope this helps.

This is what you need to be trying to fix imo.

I would consider downloading the latest Catalyst Suite, then uninstall any installed drivers, reboot.
    Run Driver Sweeper , reboot.
Then try installing the Catalyst Suite.

If that does not work, please post a dxdiag log.

I will give this a go, but when you say "uninstall drivers" do you mean uninstalling them from the properties window of my graphics card in the device manager? I don't have any drivers installed otherwise.

I don't think it's possible not to have a .minecraft folder. All of the stuff that makes the game work gets sent there. If you do a search for %appdata%/.minecraft/bin it will take you to the folder where your .jar is. Back up one folder from there and it will take you to the .minecraft folder where mods, config, screenshots, saves, and some other things are stored. There should he a text document called options. It's only a kilobyte big and keeps track of your settings for the game like what language you have it set to and mouse sensitivity.

I believe the update added something to the options file and when Minecraft was updated something went wrong and it incorrectly added the new text. It probably crashes because it tries to read the file when starting up and it realizes something is missing and crashes. Deleting the file causes it to create a new one with the text added correctly and it can then load properly.
Of course there might be some other reason for it :v I'm just kinda making up stuff that sounds right.

Yours is crashing before the Mojang screen, right? Something else is probably causing it to do that. I just know that the options file is what was messing it up for me and that deleting it got it working again.

What I mean is, is that I don't have the options file because I deleted the .minecraft folder and haven't been able to play since. Yes, it crashes right before the mojang screen. It has to be something with my graphics drivers because I haven't been able to reinstall my Catalyst for a while without it bluescreening or just not applying the drivers to my card. I was trying to look into why the recommended Catalyst package isn't even working for me, but no luck.

Thing is... I have no such file because I deleted my .minecraft folder and downloaded a fresh copy of minecraft from the site and it still does it.

I don't believe it's unfixable, but it has to be some obscure thing that can be most easily solved with a computer reformat. I would love to do this, but it's not an option for me at the moment.

Couldn't find any posts on this. I've just recently had a problem start up where just after I log it, before the Mojang Logo appears the game client just closes, and a Java error file is created.

    Here is the error log.

posted a message on Using Mods in SP only?
I'm fairly new to content mods, and I couldn't find the answer to this question anywhere. Is it possible to use a mod that only affects SP, and still leaves SMP playable normally?

posted a message on [1.3.1] GLSL Shaders (DoF, Bump Mapping, Waving Wheat, Dynamic Shadows, and More!)
I'd very much like to use this mod with the fix! I can't use it in SMP without the game crashing when I open the inventory... Help!

posted a message on [1.3.1] GLSL Shaders (DoF, Bump Mapping, Waving Wheat, Dynamic Shadows, and More!)
I got this mod to work with the Laurina 1.1.6 patch. However, when I run the game in SMP using any of the shaders, my inventory screen will lock up whenever I open it. Anyone know a solution to this?
