Are you allowed to 'use' adblock on this site, when this is on the list of sites that it should ignore?

In other words, it's on, but not functioning.

    How about shields (not dual-wield)?

Sure, I'll be editing this as I go along. I just don't know how much if I want to do that.

i dont like stabbing, people can simply wait for those 2 seconds while running and the right moment they would charge on the mob and "bang!" super attack exploited.

Actually, that'd be pretty stupid because there so weak right then, so I once again don't see the problem. Almost everything in this game can be exploited to benefit the player. If raping the slash isn't enough for you.

So while you had you sword out the controls would change to combat mode?

    Yes.

    @the other guy

What? Only things like slimes can be insta-killed then.

I love it all. Very well done, thorough and thought out!

    One thing I'd like to add to the sticks idea though. Is this;
Instead of actually punching wood at all.

    :|: :|:
    :|: :|:

convert to 1 plank too. Then with the planks you can make wooden tools. Only then you can chop wood

    Stabbing

I think, we should be able to stab with our swords. How would this be done? With the right click. How would you block? Easy. Just hold the middle scroll button.

Stabbing itself would add a whole lot of strategy to minecraft.
Stabbing does 2 times as much damage. That's right. So now, with your diamond sword, you can do 7 hearts of damage. You might be thinking, wouldn't this be over powered? No, because it does an animation that takes 2 seconds to perform. So it's slow, but effective. This will also show the critical hit particles, although no added damage will be dealt. This will also deal a little more knockback, but not much. It would also use 3 durability.

In edition, you have a 1/3 chance of blocking this at all in pvp. And while I'm on the subject, blocking has a chance of protecting only 4/5ths of the time.

    Shields
This next part has been suggested many times; but one user decides to keep it simple. So, stolen right from his thread, but still giving him credit that he deserves.

    Quote from morshu9001

I know this has been brought up before, but the other suggestions are very complicated and different from this, and I think parrying should be replaced.

There would be 4 types of shields: wooden, iron, gold, and diamond. They would have durability based on the materials, gold being the weakest and diamond the strongest. All but diamond would take considerable damage from fire, and wooden would burn in fire. You cannot enchant shields (unless someone thinks of a good enchantment for them). You sneak or right click with a sword to put up the shield, which would absorb 100% of the damage that hits the shield. You do not carry the shield with you at any time, but you only have it when you are putting it up; this would be less realistic but simpler and less overpowered. Arrows that hit the shield go into your inventory (?).

Lastly, you can change your shield's color with dyes. I'm still not sure about what shape the shield should be, either a circle or a Link shield shape.

No dual wielding or always-equipped shields that slow you down. Just keeping it simple.

And you can't collect skeleton arrows when they shoot the ground, so what makes you think you should collect them when they hit your shield?

    :wood: :Iron: :GoldBar: :DORE:

Hopefully he won't mind. But I'm trying to make this more of a compilation of combat aspects that need to be added.

    Arrow Types

I've had a thread about this too. But, since there's no longer a function to see the threads you've made, I'll just have to recreate it.

The first one would be the fire arrow.
    Easily crafted like this.
    :Flint and Steel:

It would make 8 Flaming arrows. But they don't ignite anything besides entities. It's a simple concept really.
But to make it ignite you'd put it in a furnace.

    Secondly the TNT arrow.

    :tnt:
    :feather:

    Where :feather: = String.

Makes only one TNT arrow. When it hits an entity or block it'll explode.

    The torch arrow

    :--+:
    :feather:

The torch arrow simply puts a torch onto the block you hit. Or if you hit a monster, it'll put a torch under them.

    That's it for now.

    Or deal with ROBLOX's community.

In a larger sense though; I agree completely. Notch can't do anything to make it better without ruining the feel of the game though. This simply isn't a architectural simulator.

    Is this any better?

I don't think the beams worked out very well.

    Edit:
    Quote from Beta_Failure

I meant the walls with the little Netherakk w/ fire on the top. You could either get rid of those or put them on both sides. And for the beams, maybe fence with it going like this:

    F= Fence/bars
X= Whatever the bridge is made out of
           XXXXX XXXXX
          XXXXXXX XXXXXXX
         XXXXXXXXX XXXXXXXXX
        XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
       XX F F XX
      XXFFFFF FFFFFXX
     XX F F XX

Since the beams didn't work out, maybe I'll try yours.
Btw, the one side part is intentional, because it's to welcome the newcomers, sort of.

Put some support beams under it, and maybe add some railing to the sides? It also might help if it was symmetrical.

It is symmetrical... If your talking about to the right, thats the start of the town.
I'll put some beams, but will it still be functional then? This place will only be accessible by boat.

It looks so simple and this town is going to be complex. So, how do you think I can make this bridge less ugly?
