All I know is the redstone forum was trying to figure out how to make it so that weather was detectable. All of there suggestions did not work so... In the morning it could be like that so it tells you not to go out side because the monsters didn't burn. Theres a ton of uses really. Just gotta think.

I kinda think buckets shoudl remain buckets though, you know? I mean you wouldn't see people placing buckets outside to get rain would you? Also it wouldn't explain it being powered.
