I looked around for a bit, through about 10 pages of the forum, and didn't see anything like this.
Is anyone interested in making a map with some ruins, relics, or temples not too close to spawn? Maybe like a dawn to midday trek from spawn is about the distance I'm looking for. If it is to be further, perhaps some sort of structure that obliquely points the way to the temple/ruin. You don't need to leave a path to it, as the idea is to get us to explore. Feel free to use an editor to make them, that way you don't have to strip resources from the world to make it.
I don't want anything at spawn, like as if we were starting a brand new world. The difference would be we'd have a reason to explore a bit: find the temples or ruins out there that you placed. Feel free to get creative with any story these ruins tell once we find them, but try to make it so we don't have to find them in a specific order. Leave whatever you want in the structure: chests, puzzles, riddles, etc. I'm looking for more creative than something that will stump me.
Final request: No superstructures. It has to be visible from just walking around exploring, but not visible from space :-) If you want more room, maybe hide it on the side of a mountain so it is only seen from one side or something.
Thanks! Have fun with it, I'm sure I'm not the only one looking for something like this!

I know what i'm doing in minecraft, played a lot, watched 4 or so let's plays. I'm not too proficient with redstone, but otherwise i'm good. I can build traps, minecarts, all the recipes so far, etc. Also, I love exploring and leaving the surface as close to natural as possible with sparse and good looking structures being the only exception.
