Also I hope that all the changes to the lighting engine will ultimately lead to brighter light sources. (assuming it could be done efficiently. I am aware that in order to go beyond 15 they would need to add another bit to each lighting value)

Well okay, sure, if you want to pay $99 a year for a developer account, then you can run whatever code you want. But that's not something most people are going to do, and thus is not a viable method for a mainstream company like Microsoft to be distributing software.

Yeah, that version will never be as flexible as Java so long as it's built to milk us with micro transactions.
Considering that the Apple TV 4th gen has 2gb ram, and a dual core 1.5GHZ Apple A8, it's not going to be at all on par with console editions, and it's probably not going to run the pocket port phenomenally either unless they strip the graphics/draw distance down.
Also, how are you going to control it?
Those are better specs than my iPhone 6 Plus, which already runs Pocket edition very well. (No it can't do the insane render distances of the PC port, but for someone accustomed to JAVA version it's fine)
Apple introduced a MFi controller standard way back in iOS 7. Apple TV 4 has always supported it, albeit when the thing first launched they had a silly restriction where games had to be at least partially playable on the remote (that rule was thankfully rescinded). I have one for my iPhone that I always use to play pocket edition.

I do long for more fantasy-inspired creatures as well, but if you think about it, ALL the peaceful mobs to date are based on real life animals; Cows, chickens, pigs, sheep, horses, donkeys, rabbits, wolves, cats, all of them exist in the real world. Only the hostile mobs are fantasy based.
And as for "backpacks... well they're not actually called that, and they're constructed from pieces dropped by a fantasy creature.

You do know that pistons were directly inspired by a mod way back in the day? Not only that but numerous other items like hoppers, rabbits, banners, slime blocks, elytra (gliders), and shields all appeared in mods long before they were a part of vanilla.

Honestly the only things that sucks about this version is that its still missing some features (though slowly coming up to par), it isn't available for Mac (yet at least) or Linux (never going to happen), and it will probably never have the same kind of modding community.

I wouldn’t put too much stock in what they do now, since It’s obvious they just copied the code from chests. I doubt they’re going to act exactly same way in the end, especially given that Mojang made the interface inaccessible ( The spectator mode thing it’s probably an oversight)

Some kind of RS functionality is going to be added to the Lectern, according to Dinnerbone on Twitter. My guess is that it will emit a signal when a book is put in it and/or read.

You know whatever crafting purpose the stone cutter serves, I kinda hope that it has a secondary function of being a togglable damage block. (Eg a red stone signal makes the blade "spin", damaging enemies on top of it)

A long time ago they toyed with the idea of being able to crop maps back down. I hope that feature makes a return with the cartography table.
But yeah, it could be that these blocks revolve around new villager behavior.

I love the loom for the simple fact that it gives us more "crafting"-type blocks (Eg blocks that craft or modify items). The last addition, iiirc, was the anvil, way back in version 1.4. I feel like they've relied too heavily on the crafting table since then.
