I think it's just an Optifine feature... It's based on surrounding blocks. If you take away all adjacent snow, it should go away... you can also turn it off. Options > Video Settings... > Quality... > Better Snow: ON to Better Snow: OFF
Based on my nearly 9 years of ROBLOX, and 8.5 of Minecraft, they're completely different games. Nobody copied nobody. ROBLOX is more of a game creation platform, and Minecraft is a game on its own. They both share the sandbox genre, but to say they copied one another would be to say that Minecraft, ROBLOX, Terraria, Garry's Mod, and Scrap Mechanic are all the exact same game. And also, ROBLOX began development under the name "Dynablocks" in 2004, whereas Minecraft began development in June of 2009, so if there were any copying (which there isn't), Minecraft would have been the "copy". Now, Minecraft did take elements from Infiniminer, but that's seperate from this discussion.
My original name? powerfulsanta44.
I played Roblox at the time, and I tried to make my username "santa". It was august... why did I choose "santa"? We may never know the inner workings of 5-year-old me's brain. It told me "That username is taken, try these!" and gave me stuff following [adjective]santa[number], and I chose powerfulsanta44. Then when I got Minecraft in November, that's what I chose for my username.
Most of everything between then and now i'd like to forget.
I had "NotFromDenmark" for a while, which was shortened to Nifty, which my friend came up with.
Basically, NFD, Nif D, Nifty.
I then tried Nifty44 on Roblox (i still play it, just not as religiously as i did in 2012.), and it was taken, so i decided on "44nifty." The 44 is to reference "powerfulsanta44", and the "Nifty" comes from the NotFromDenmark username. Which I don't want to use anymore, but I liked "nifty" so I went with 44nifty.
EXPLAINING NOTFROMDENMARK
In 7th grade, I was taking a computer-science class, and I was sitting there, tired and bored out of my mind. I had a cringy username at the time, and for some reason, the word "Denmark" just came into my mind out of nowhere. I then thought, "Hey, I'm not from Denmark!" and then i realized, "Hey.. that would make a funny username!", and then it just... stuck. And now "NotFromDenmark" has just been part of most of my usernames since then, but now I'm trying to distance myself from it, and I think 44Nifty is far enough away from the whole "not from denmark" stuff.

I'm lacking in inspiration, so give me some! I have 63 blocks of depth for underground stuff below me, in case you want to make use of that.

Well we'd be short of the "Not on Steam!" splash text, for one.

Are you perhaps using the inbuilt shaders? They only run anti-aliasing effects, so I see why you might say there are "no shaders".

Sorry mate, I prefer breakfasters over lunchers.
All jokes aside, I just use the default launcher.
