Is there a robotic equivalent to furry without the social connotations – which kind of makes sense, regarding robots? Because, that's probably what I am.

What this has to do with Minecraft though remains to be seen. ← See, robot.

PSJ, though he doesn't play as much these days. Just a down to earth guy playing games. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCP6f9x4iXk3LH8Q1sqJmYPQ

There are others I like too, but he's old school from alpha, and helped sell me on the game.

It's mine if I got it. Go find and get your own instead of living off of other people. If someone wants to leave some, that's up to them and how they want to play.

You know, try playing the game instead of playing the sympathy/victim card.

Looks like you can only join local LAN hosted games from the PE or Realms servers set up for it.

OK, cool, I sent them a message. And that answers my next question. The Android version will be PE, correct?

Yeah, that's what I have on my Android devices at any rate.

I got it from the Google Play store a few years ago just to mess around with. I mostly play and host servers for the regular Java version though, so I don't know as much about the specifics and capabilities of the PE version.

Might be worth me looking into getting a copy of Windows 10 to install on a virtual machine, if I can host a server for PE on it over the internet. Hmm...

posted a message on Just curious - is it normal for the game to lag when a gaming session spans a great geographical distance?

Define "lag." I take it you mean low FPS. Is that while loading chucks, or in general?

Is it normal? Not that I can tell. I recently went 40K to look for a jungle biome on one of the servers I host.

Fortresses still generate, as do Dungeons, and I think the portals to the End do, but not the strongholds. Seem to remember that being the case the last time I checked. I've been using these server settings for a few years now.

Here, I'll load up my old backup server to double check the End portals. Be right back.

    ...

OK, it doesn't look like the portals to the End generate either. I must have initially changed the server settings on an existing previous, previous version of the server, but not the previous one, if that makes any sense. ^_^

Either way, the Eye of Enders still lead to where the Stronghold/End portal would have been, so I'll just manually place one there without Eyes instead when the time comes, after finding the location where it would be "legitimately."

On the other hand, I don't suppose we'd really need to go to the End for anything other than to "win," since we're playing on v1.8.9.

posted a message on It's that time again – v1.8.9...

I'm mostly wondering how other people approach progression in the game when they get to this same point.

This game is on a newly remade family server that I host, due to an older one getting some minor chunk corruption that I didn't care for. I'll probably leave the End stuff for later to work on together with my family at some point in the future. I have structure generation turned off, because villages and mineshafts tend to make the game too easy for me starting out.

So, keep mining for diamonds and levels to stack enchantments to get maxed out gear or go into the Nether to get resources from there and go looking for a fortress?

Or both, mining until I get bored from it and go Nether delving?

What do you do when you get to this point in a survival game? Maybe you have a different approach altogether.

posted a message on Why is Notch still blamed about everything, Along with mojang on silly issues?

I'm not sure what that really has to do with it. I just prefer playing 1.8.9 and it's what I host on my servers. I haven't really bothered trying newer versions of the game since around 1.10, or so.

I'm not someone who bashes newer versions though. It's called having a preference, something that reasonable people can have without hating on everything else.

I'm still curious to see where the game goes over time, even if I'm happy with the version of the game I already have.

Either way, selling Mojang to Microsoft is probably the last thing some people expected to happen and it likely isn't something most players back then and likely still now would have preferred due to Microsoft's reputation.

I don't "blame" Notch though. After all, we wouldn't have this great game in the first place without him. If I met him, I'd still thank him for his work.

Minecraft never went bad, people just hate changes.

Or sometimes they just have different preferences. I agree that Minecraft didn't go "bad" though.

For some weird reason it seems popular to blame "nostalgia" these days. I've been playing video games since the '80s and still own an NES and several of my original games for it from back then. To me, Minecraft is a newer game, even though it's considered an older game now by some.

I don't have to specify that I'm talking about the "Java" version yet though, right? ^_^

I'm not going to say MC was ever particularly ruined, but 1.8's "optimizations" hurt everyone that doesn't have a shiny new computer, and 1.7's biome generation changes killed exploration value and the former good look of the terrain. (MasterCaver for this very reason has not updated beyond 1.6.)

By "shiny new computer" you must also mean my wife's 5 year old i3 laptop with basic Intel graphics that gets 60 FPS max settings with 12 chunk view distance. ^_^
