It would probably get more money on the Xbox, but whatever.

    Why?

That's a good one! The nether fortress bit interests me the most. BTW, thanks for bumping the thread. I hope this topic will stay alive for longer now :) People should see all these ideas people are coming up with.

Thanks... and you're welcome! I decided to go a completely different route with nether lore. My idea is that pigmen are actually devolved humans (because they don't really look much like pigs), and the wither skeletons are undead pigmen, who used to be much bigger. The three kings were meant to be the wither. Yeah, thanks for noticing my nether ideas.

I've never wondered why the Abandoned Mineshafts are abandoned and why the dungeons have been left a long time ago. Hmmm, maybe 4J Studios are working on a full Xbox 360 game with a Minecraft storyline where you have to survive the apoclypse.

That wouldn't work. Minecraft lore stops being fun if official lore is published. Also why 4J? Minecraft is Mojang's thing, they should be the ones publishing lore.

Us PC players need no hand-holding. If you honestly can't figure out how MInecraft works then play the Xbox version.

True, I'd rather pay millions of dollars to fly to the moon for minecon than go to America/Canada/someone's backyard.

What I'm saying is that having it on the moon would mean that it's fair on everyone, because no one lives on the moon.

posted a message on Minecraft has a post-apocalyptic theme?

I've thought Minecraft was apocalyptic for a long time. Hence there is zombies, mutant creatures, no humans, why wouldn't it be apocalyptic? According to my book, Minecraft once had 3 races: Pigmen, Humans, and Testificates. You are the only human left, the pigmen are extinct, and Testificates are unintelligent.

I prefer to think the three races are: Testificates, undead and pigmen, with humans being the ancestors of all three. If you look at them you'll se all three have human features. I had some lore on another thread, I'll try to find it for everyone.

    Edit: here it is.

My lore is that in the future a transhumanist-religious group attempts to find heaven through technology, but once they were there, they discovered it wasn't what they expected. A monster which they believed to be God cursed them when they got there; opening their minds and giving them great power, but at the cost of both their humanity and sanity. They then believed that they were above regular humans, and began eradicating them. They used their powers to turn the dead, and various animals, into monstrous puppets, designed to scout out surviving humans.
When only a few humans were left, they each chose between two methods of escape from their pursuers. Many left to hide in a hell-like dimension, but where swiftly ravaged by its wasting influence. They succumbed slowly to a disease that rotted their flesh and left them feral. Their three great kings promised to leave and find help, but where never seen again, and it soon became apparent that the kings' elite guard left to protect their civilisations were corrupted by the same affliction as the pursuers that they left their native world to hide from. Their fortresses were left to crumble, forever haunted by undead knights and fiery guardians. Their new home ultimately, had become even worse than their original!
The humans that stayed on earth had far greater success, living in small villages in the wilderness, protected by simple machines. They trained heavily under religious doctrine, which allowed them to stay sane, even in the face of such a great evil. Their bodies changed after 1000's of years of this. but unlike their hellish cousins, their minds stayed the same.
After all this time, only one pure human remained, somehow preserved for millennia beneath the ground. However, he would eventually reawaken, and hold out mercilessly against all the new world's demonic inhabitants. He was perceived by the villagers to be some kind of demigod, and they held onto a hope that he would finally defeat the still-living members of that transhumanist group that continued their genocidal campaign for all those 1000s of years that had passed.

    What do ya' think?

Soooo... A Leonardo DaVinchi-ish crazy contraption that fires bows at ridiculously high rates? Hmmmm....

Maybe, if it was something you had to place down and load with arrows manually? I think that forces more strategy upon the player then a simple spray-n-pray style weapon.

You mean a dispensor? That kind of defeats the purpose of the thread.

You fail to realize the point in minecon, it's not so little kids from australia can go to minecon. Last time i will say this, More players in America means more people go to a minecon that's in America. It cost money to go to minecon so they don't care about children in Asia or Australia they want people that can afford Airfare, A hotel, and a rental car because even if it's in Asia or Australia those people are still gonna have hours of driving/flying anyways! so it's easier to place it in america because there is more people per mile than say idk australia which means more people can access minecon and the people from Australia/Asia can just fly over instead of making Most of the people who would attend minecon fly across the planet

Yeah... because Australia is totally a poor country.
Your lack of knowledge about other continents is at best laughable, and at worst verging on racism. Sure America may have the largest Minecraft community, but that doesn't mean Minecraft is exclusively played by Americans. I live in Australia (so I am slightly biased, but no more so than you seem to be) and myself and nearly everyone at my high school plays Minecraft, and I know that applies to most high schools in Australia's major cities, so there'd be no shortage of people there. I'm really not sure where you got all these ideas about Australian economy and community from because you really seem to know about as much about Australia as Aminecraftguy knows about America (I was lost by most of your cultural references as well).

posted a message on Dear Mojang: Why the Addition of a Few More Weapons Would be Good for Minecraft
    Quote from Zougkla

My main concern with guns and, I think, one reason Notch opposes them is that they are too violent for the many small children who play Minecraft.

This is in addition to the fact that default Minecraft has a fantasy setting.

Actually, many kid's games have guns in them, and so do many fantasies.

Anyway, I agree about new weapons. We have a tonne of unique splash potions (essentially Minecraft-y grenades), but no melee or ranged diversity. I noticed someone mentioned the rapid-fire bow from beta earlier in the thread, well maybe its mechanics could be applied to a new weapon.
What I'm thinking is a 'gun' of sorts. It would have the same rate of fire as the 'beta-bow', making it an ideal last resort weapon. To balance it out, it would do very low damage (half a heart per hit) and the reticule would move upwards slowly as it's fired (like a real machine gun). I'm not sure about a recipe, but I'd assume gunpowder would be involved.
I'm not sure about a name, but it should avoid sounding like a gun.

    Quote from DoctorFetus

The worst mission/quest in any game to me (off the top of my head) is "Dragonslayer" in Skyrim. That was the most anti-climactic ending since Kane and Lynch 2. At least the final level in K&L2 was pretty cool, unlike Dragonslayer.

Yeah, the ending of Skyrim sucked. Alduin took me about 10 seconds (not exaggerating) to beat, and then the bridge guard (don't remember his name) basically says 'thank you for saving the world, now it's time for you to go home'. That's it, no credits, no ending cinematic, no nothing.
