My MAX is 9 so far. I've heard the most you can get is 15 (or something) due to friendly mob spawn maximums.

I like the idea of parachutes a LOT.

But they should be material expensive, so you still don't do stupid jumps all the time.

posted a message on The Quandary Texture Pack (v5.0 for 1.2.5!)
First off: I wanted to thank you SO MUCH for finally getting around to the update. I'll miss the seasons, but it was a little bothersome getting the rotation add-on to work, while still using other packs. Thank you again, and again, many times over. I've always liked your pack. And I'm sure the community as a whole is happy too. Even if they don't know how to properly state it.

I would love it if you released an autumn version. The current one is closest to one of the seasons I used the most. The other two were an autumn one, and the flowery one. I could easily live without the flowers for an autumn pack.

There MAY be a way to make the biomes follow seasonal colors. I saw something on Painterly that looked like it did. But in play, the gradient seemed to have no effect on the leaves.

I'm even planning on changing the sandstone blocks to a more default looking design, as I feel I'm straying too far from the default textures with those.

That's the one thing I was gonna mention not liking. And for the same reason. I'm glad you're already working on it.

posted a message on Are Minecrafters TOO efficient?
That's a good point about the tutorials. Don't overdo them. I watched MANY before I went through the trouble of even getting a Paypal account JUST to buy the Alpha. And now that I have it, I can vein mine with the best (nearly 50 diamonds in 3 hours) I know how to build drowning traps, I can build interesting torch supported sand structures. I can build farms, docks, castles, redstone item indicator torches, etc. But I can never decide what to do NEXT. There are so many ideas swimming in my head, but I'm stuck as to what to do NEXT.

TVtropes calls this phenomenon a Quick Sandbox game:
    http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/QuickSandbox

And I believe it's impossible to be too efficient in Minecraft. You can always do something NEW with what you already got. I'll give an example. You've seen the video of the guy who built a working COMPUTER in Minecraft? I think it was 16 logic gates (or 16-bit, or something), but he could easily (layout, not build-wise) expand that to 32.

If you can build a mob trap, you can expand on the initial idea to build a massive, mega-level, multichunk, 100% efficient mob grinder. If you can do that, you can figure out how to do a more aesthetic looking one that may not be as big or as efficient but it'd look nice (especially with an observation room). And if you could do that, you could figure out how to make the huge one aesthetic as well. There's always more steps.

Frankly, I hope some of the people who 'play' Minecraft will be the future architects of our real world. I mean there's young teens (maybe even tweens) out there who can build just about anything with the 'simple' mechanics of Minecraft. If they can make it in Minecraft, there's probably a way to make similar things in RL (Portal mechanics aside) I'd love to see some of these kids let loose on Earth to see what they can build with REAL resources they can find and use.

And if they can't do it with 'real' resources; maybe they could write books in which the only limit really IS the imagination.

((wow that took nearly half an hour to type out. It's not easy wording things carefully to get the desired effect.))

Strangely... the same as the game... To have fun.

To OP: hopefully this will clear up some of the confusion for new players.

I think there was another dungeon under the water at 2:46 o.O You can see the rectangle shape.

I checked out the world seed. It totally is another spawner. That wasn't the first time I tried that seed, and I didn't even notice it the other times. Thank you so much. Too bad they weren't skelly spawners.

I see others had commented on this, but you did first, so you get the creds.

Someone asked if there were LP series like this. You should check out MinecraftChick on youtube. She was even more beginner then Jessica is.

posted a message on I can't play Minecraft legit anymore
I personally don't play with mods, but I can see the appeal. Notch has said many times that he wants people to have fun. If it's fun for you to spawn 200 Diamond Blocks; it's fine if you don't want to work for your treasures. Just remember that the real world doesn't work that way. If you want something there, you need to go get it.

When I'm exploring caves, I walk by so many resources (many good ones too) just to keep exploring. So with this mod, I wold take a good hour to walk only 10 minutes worth of gameplay.

I think I'd rather EXPLORE for the other 50 minutes. Just saying.

posted a message on [POLL] If you could REMOVE one thing from minecraft...
I wouldn't remove creepers all together (still kill you pretty flat). But I'd want to get rid their ability to blow up anything harder than cloth. I wouldn't mind running from them, but I'd rather they didn't destroy all your hard work all the time. If there's something that you can't get rid of in 3 seconds of punching; a creeper shouldn't be able to do so in 1 second.

And since he'd still destroy some work, he'd still be feared enough. But he couldn't blow out your brick or cobble house. Ooh! Just make their blasts like the ghasts' blasts. Powerful, but unable to bust cobble or stronger blocks.

I was going to go after this in a more logical fashion, but every time I try, I trip over my words. I'm under the weather, and having a tough time concentrating. I'll try to sum it up.

    TL;DR:
Lower Creeper damage, so builds are safer, but not necessarily players.

posted a message on Share your world seeds! [OP Being Organized!]
I did my user-name "1Wolffan" and there are several large overhangs around the place with lakes under them. But when I did it with a lowercase w. I ended up with a rather wintry map, with no such cool catacombs.

And to those people who keep saying "What's the big deal, they've been around since alpha." Keep this in mind:
It may have been around since alpha, but now that it's Easily accessible to all Minecrafters, There's going to be a whole new flock of people curious about what they are, how they work, what you can do with them, etc.

Many people don't even like using third-party mods; and if they do, they have no way of tracking all the mods. So back yourself up out of people's faces, and let them figure things out without people shooting them down for getting excited.

After seeing the splash screen say "12345 is a bad password" I typed in "12345" as the seed.

Once you GET OUT OF THE DESERT, it's actually a rather pleasant map. Some fun trees, and a few nice cliffs.

I don't know if this will be an important enough point for you to follow-through on, but I'll say it anyways.

It would be helpful if you included the date of your last updated file on the first post (preferably in the first couple lines). That way, when folks start up the page from a bookmark they can tell whether there have been any changes since their last visit.

I got a pretty good laugh out of the Mobs. The Creeper is the funniest of them. I really look foreword to when you've finished retexturing the new stuff.

I don't use too many different texture packs, because Minecraft doesn't have a scroll bar yet for its texture packs and mods options. Yours is now high on the priority list; right next to Quandary May, Painterly (once they're done retexturing everything too) and Pixeludi Pack.

Thank you for putting so much time and effort into making Minecraft even more fun and whimsical for all these folks.
