Why are you better than anyone else applying for this? No one is better than anyone else, people just have different talents. I would be a good choice because I respect rules and honor peoples privacy and their "code". I am also very productive and my participation is at its highest.

The purpose is to be a semi-industrial server as if one were just advancing out of the stone age into the industrial age. The setting will be also as if the players are all struggling to advance and survive. As such, raiding will be allowed, but griefing will not be. In order to connect to Under Construction, you will need to use the Technic Launcher to download and run our custom modpack. If you know how to do that, the platform URL is at the bottom of this section. If not, follow the below directions.

In the left sidebar, scroll until you see "Add New Pack."

My name is Matt, I am a 19 year old IT student at Carnegie-Mellon who enjoys running/helping run Minecraft servers and the machines they run on. I have experience with just about every Operating System in existence except Unix and Mac OSX. I have run Vanilla Minecraft, CraftBukkit, SpoutServer, and MCPC+ servers. I am on my computer almost every second of the day (except when I am in class (and sometimes even then)) and enjoy writing software to do the work for me and notify me of errors. I can, I assume, proficiently use Windows Server 2K8 as I have in the past run servers on Windows Server 2K10. I know I will be able to set up and use IIS, I just do not know how fast, as I usually use a version of Apache I have compiled for Windows. I am able to effectively monitor network usage and disk space using Nagios, Munin, or manually. I have had experience in optimizing Javax64. I have not had to deal with AWS in the past because I usually used privately hosted computers and set up them manually through terminal (in the case of Linux/Solaris) or RDP (in the case of Windows). What downtime? Oh, you mean the 5 seconds between a server stop and when the software detects it? I can be there to support all other server staff, whether they be in game or web/forum. I have high amounts of experience in programming and generally write applications in order to handle menial tasks such as ensuring up-time on the server.

I found out that my father was actually an experiment to see if humans, with enhanced brains, could control electricity and computers with their minds. They had enhanced his brain before I was born, so they wanted to know if I had inherited some of his powers. It turns out, the oddities that followed me were actually caused my inheritance of my father's enhanced brain. So I was drafted, at age 13, to join the Japanese military to allow them to continue their experimentation on the true capacity of the human brain. One thing that I was not told then, is that having that brain would cause me to have a lifespan half as long as normal. Here I am now, at age 30, three fifths of the way through my half-life, just now finding out that I only had 20 years left to live. What do I do now? I make those 20 years worth it. I can now fully control my powers over computers and electricity, so I end up on the front lines as a weapon of mass destruction.
