My progress so far: (I'll be doing a video tour once I've completed all tasks. :smile.gif:
*build a giant banana out of gold blocks for bananapielord (http://www.youtube.com/user/Bananapielord) DONE
*make a libary in your house with at least 30 bookselfs DONE
*make a green carpet anywere in your house at least 5X5 big DONE
*complete the treasure hunt DONE
*make a spider spawner trap
*make a house with at least 35 glass windows DONE
*make a fire place out of bricks DONE
*get a pet wolf (Still waiting for one to spawn....
*make mine cart track that is connected to all the islands DONE
*have at least 50 diamonds! (Counting the tools I've made) DONE
*build a farm with wheat sugercane and cuctus growing in it) DONE
*rebuild the nether portal in the temple DONE
*build a 10X10 pyramid on the desset island out of sandstone DONE
*make one wooden bridge connecting all 3 islands in the middle DONE
So, i've been playing this for about 3 hours now.
So far, here's what I've accomplished:
*build a giant banana out of gold blocks for bananapielord (http://www.youtube.com/user/Bananapielord)
*make a libary in your house with at least 30 bookselfs
*make a green carpet anywere in your house at least 5X5 big
*complete the treasure hunt *DONE*
*make a spider spawner trap
*make a house with at least 35 glass windows
*make a fire place out of bricks
*get a pet wolf
*make mine cart track that is connected to all the islands
*have at least 50 diamonds!
*build a farm with wheat sugercane and cuctus growing in it)
*rebuild the nether portal in the temple *DONE*
*build a 10X10 pyramid on the desset island out of sandstone
*make one wooden bridge connecting all 3 islands in the middle
Now, as for what I've done BEYOND that:
I've turned the starter cave into my home, for now.
PLotted a spot for my house
Farmed a few trees
Mined enough iron to make my iron pickaxe to mine the diamonds
Found all the hidden rooms, I think. (Completed the treasure hunt at least, although I did it out of order)
So what have I been doing for 3 hours? MINING GOLD, IRON AND COAL!!!!
I was digging around, and dropped into this cave... and about had a heart attack. I've never SEEN so much gold/iron/coal ore before. I burned through my diamond pickaxe mining it all....And I'm STILL not done!!
So my question is How friggen big is this banana supposed to be!?!? lol
Anyways, having tons of fun. I'll post screenies when I've completed all the challenges. :smile.gif:
Oh, and to put it into perspective, so far I have 70 Gold blocks with 2 more ore stacks smelting right now. (Yes blocks not bricks/ingots)
Just a nickle's worth of free advice, post some screenshots of your map. People tend to be wary of downloading maps without screenshots, especially if they're coming from someone with only 2 posts. :smile.gif:
Using single player commands mod it is very easy to do this
Just use the command /setspawn
Not too sure but I think Mcedit might be a bit more difficult to use.
For Just resetting the spawn location, MCedit isn't TOO tough. It kind of depends on whether he already has SPC installed. If he doesn't, then MCEdit would be a tad easier.
Here's a step by step.
Install MCEdit
Open the level.dat file for your map in MCEdit
If you're not where you want your spawn to be, then move to where you want your spawn to be.
Once you're where you want spawn to be, Right click somewhere on the screen (It's going to default to where when you move your mouse, your camera moves)
On the toolbar, there are icons. Click on the icon that has a players face in it, but it looks like it's in a MobSpawner cage. (If you hover on it, it'll tell you what it is)
Once you left click on it, move your mouse to the map window again.
Left click where ever you want to place the spawn point.
HIt CTRL +S to save your map.
Thats it.
If you already have SPC installed, use that instead.
MCEdit was what I was going to suggest as well. If you have single player commands Mod, I believe you can edit it that way as well by typing /setspawn
Other than that you could always build a bed then sleep in it, then destroy the bed.
Just sayin
Very cool map... I love the end. I highly recommend it :biggrin.gif:
14 gold bars found
*edit* I'm a nooby map maker working on some maps... I was just wondering how do you get working monster spawners? :tongue.gif:
If you're using something like Single Player Commands or TooManyItems when building maps, and either don't want to, or don't have the knowledge to use MCEdit, you can install Risugami's Mob Spawner GUI. Basically, when you place a monster spawner, you right click it, select what you want it to spawn, then hit escape. Viola'! :smile.gif:
YAY! 9 Downloads. :biggrin.gif:
Any comments? I know there isn't gonna be a huge response, but I'm still curious if this seems like it would be helpful to someone.
Greetings, Programs! (Sorry... Been watching a lot of Tron...)
I've been bored at work today so I started a new adventure map. Then I got to thinking... At work I have to play in my browser, which means no addons. Wouldn't it be nice to have a map ready to go with all the stuff I need to start having fun?
So that's what I did. I know there are a ton of starter maps out there, so I don't expect a HUGE following on this map. But figured I'd throw it up here anyway.
So here's "The Catch".
This isn't some extravagant, Cool looking map. I didn't make huge, elaborate structures or anything like that. That's for you to do. I didn't explore any of the map except where the house is and where the mine is.
This is a totally naturally generated map. I didn't use a world seed or anything.
The only map editing I did was make the dirt patch the house is sitting on larger, so it was easier to build.
You'll notice there aren't a LOT of blocks to build with in the chests. I did this for a reason. When I start building, part of the fun for me is collecting materials to build with. I've started you with a HUGE amount of good tools, weapons and armor as well as a starter mine. The rest is up to you.
There's nothing "hidden" on the map and it's not an adventure map. It's JUST a map to give someone a head start on constructing a bigger project.
Anyways, on with the sales pitch!
What's Inside!
A Decent sized house with everything you need to begin having fun in Minecraft. Spawn point is inside the house. This includes:
-A Bed
-Workbench
-Furnaces
-Chests full of stuff: Weapons and Armor, Tools, Not-so-common building supplies (Like doors, signs, stuff like that), Food, Herbs and plants, Saplings, Pumpkins (There's also a pumpkin outside too!) and the list goes on.
-Downstairs Workshop: Redstone Dust, Redstone Torches and Repeaters.
-Switches, Buttons, plates and more.
-Chests full of Minecarts, Minecarts with Chests and Carts with Furnaces. There's also a chest full of Rails.
Outside you'll find a minecart system that leads to your mine. The minecart system has inline resetting boosters for both directions and chests at either end with minecarts in them. There's also fencing around it all to minimize animals screwing up your ride. (GOD I hate that....) I don't know if it'll work 100% of the time, but it'll work most of the time.
The Mine is down to 5 blocks above bedrock ready for branch mining. There are 3 main shafts that are ready for shafts to be dug off them.
There's a cave behind the main house marked with torches. I have not explored the cave. That's for you to do but it looks like it goes a ways down.
So I just started playing. (Gotta love Skeles shooting at you before you stop falling)
Anyway, I noticed something when gathering wood.
I am in the habit of checking Save folders when I download maps because I use SPCs when making maps myself. So I delete the spcsettings file otherwise I get stuck in noclip or end up invincible or something.
The Axe you gave people is acting like the "Magic Wand" for the WorldEdit in SPC.
Just a heads up. :smile.gif:
I'll post more if I can keep from dieing
I'm having troubles, every time I mine something I get 64 of it, it only happens on this map. is this happening to anyone else?
Re-install the map. Then go into the Maps folder and delete the spc-settings file. This is the Single Player Commands file. When you use SPC on a map, it saves your settings. If you have this mod installed, it will freak out your addon.
I always get stuck in Noclip mode when people forget to delete this file.
