A while back I had an idea about connecting teamspeak 3 and minecraft. After a little research I discovered how easy I could accomplish this. The current plan is to either create a public API/library for others to use*, and/or to create my own standalone mod that connects teamspeak to allow the user to:
Send and receive messages in-game.
See who is talking within your channel.
Switch channels
Interact similarly as you would the teamspeak client without having to tab out
etc.
Currently I am releasing preview versions of Minespeak. I will update the download as I make progress and as feedback is given. Images
Multiple chat support and auto-updating channel/user list.
Windows in the way? Minimize them. The chat bar will still notify you when you have a new message.
Message, poke, kick, ban and switch channels without leaving Minecraft.
Download and instructions:
Get Minespeak w/ API Preview #1 for Minecraft 1.5.1 HERE
To install download the above file, Risugami's modloader and put both within your minecraft.jar.
If you have not already go to your Teamspeak client and enable to the clientquery plugin that is included with Teamspeak. Finally launch Minecraft.
Controls & etc:
I: connects the client to Teamspeak.
U: Opens the GUI to the user
Right click within channel tab for goodies
GUI is draggable
The "@" channel is equivalent to command line and is prone to errors if misused
typing "enable talk" and "disable talk" toggles ingame talk status display
TO DO LIST:
Fix a number of aesthetics errors
Add functionality for the main tab's top buttons and settings menu
All dem chat issues
Add poking, and banning management
Fix talk status display
Add customization
etc.
Questions:
When will it be done??!?!?
Since I am a college student with a finite amount of free time, I won't make any promises for a release date. But you can look at the progress section below.
How can I help?
Providing feedback on the project
Will it work on my computer?
Yes, so long as your computer can handle the processing.
Progress:[DD/MM]
[31/01] Rewriting the code for the teamspeak plugin from my attempt in November. Teamspeak plugin is maybe 1/4 complete.
[13/3] Started on the API.
[26/3] API is at a working stage. Beginning on a Minespeak as a test of the API.
This is just a rough build but currently seeing who is talking, visibility of channels and their users, messaging, poking, channel-switching, and other features are already completed or working.
First preview is now available with all of its incompleteness included. Post thoughts about changes that should be made that are not included within the to do list.
Since I assume you're not using the ML API much could you also do a version for Forge?
From the OP it seems like you need TS running in the background already correct? If so then I don't see the point of not just using multiple windows.
You should make a server mod that automatically hosts a TS server, then MC clients autoconnect to it when joining that server. Because as is its just a handy TS utility, but if you did that then it would become streamlined VIOP for minecraft, which would become instantly popular.

The reason I'm hooking the client into minecraft is that tabbing out is slower especially on fullscreen mode than being able to press a single key and have all the same capabilities.

Doing this would mean that the teamspeak would go down every time the minecraft server restarted and would still require you to have the teamspeak client running in the background as there is no way to practically combine minecraft with Teamspeak.

This is great! Been testing around with it There are some issues I would say the "Chat" GUI does not fit all text in the box, could be cool to add other Admin options (Probs not needed) Also some more buttons to active "Microphone" would be cool and to mute the "Sound" Also im using Forge as im making an updated pack of my mod pack, and pressing "U" does not remove the whole menu (I know its not made for Forge) But I think this mod would be better using Forge as It will allow people to use this on modpacks etc...
Also changing some colours would be great the UI is a bit "Dull" If you want some help testing versions I would love to help you out

Thanks for the feedback. The chat and gui are definitely the biggest concerns at the moment so that it's as user friendly as possible. I will definitely be looking at making a forge version after I get the mod to a full release.
Nice mod, but it seems that it drops my fps a bit so you may want to look into streamlining the mod. Also, it seems to not play well with rei's minimap.

Integration of most commonly used features has been accomplished.
Great work Fuego.

Possibly, I'm not too familiar with forge but I will look into it.
