Introduction
First, I'd like to take the time to explain what exactly what Warhammer 40,000 is. So open up the spoiler below:
It's the 41st Millennium (doh). Mankind is besieged on all sides by countless alien races and Chaos (I'll explain that later). It is a grimdark time where everything is stuck in the same godforsaken stalemate. Of course, there are several factions, which are:The Imperium of Mankind:
The Imperial Guard: Your typical military soldier.
The Space Marines: Elite superhuman warriors that sound more OP than they actually are.
Ordo Malleus/Hereticus/Xenos: 3 imperial orders that military branch's names are the Grey Knights, the Sisters of Battle, and the Deathwatch.
Then we have the Xenos(alien) races. Keep in mind unlike the Imperium of Man, these guys aren't allied.
The Orks: Green-skinned, savage barbarians who live for war. Look like Orcs from Lord of the Rings.
The Eldar: A once mighty race that now lives on artificial planets that constantly grow called Craftworlds.
The DARK Eldar: Not to be confused with the Eldar. The corrupted version of Eldar that are sadistic, hedonistic, and grimdark.
The Tau Empire/Space Communists: A young race dedicated to bringing the entire galaxy together under "The Greater Good". We've seen that somewhere else though on a much smaller scale, haven't we?
The Necrons: A bunch of metal skeletons that are immortal and stitch themselves up together when they're "killed". Hell-bent on removing life from the galaxy. Sounds a bit Dalek-like, doesn't it?
The Tyranids: Take the Xenomorphs from Alien vs. Predator. Now put them on the trillions/qudrillions/quintillions. That's Tyranids. Omnomnomnomnom.
You may (and probably will) be looking at this and thinking "This is messed up!". Well, it is. And it never rains but pours. We still haven't covered Chaos yet.So, what's Chaos? It means multiple things in Warhammer 40,000, but mainly it stands for the Chaos Gods and their armies. The Chaos Gods are 4 (possibly 5) beings with massive potential psychic (I'll get to Psykers next). But they don't actually exist in the Material Universe. Which is a good thing because these Chaos Gods are constantly at war. So who are they? They are:
Khorne. Most powerful of the Chaos Gods. Is the Chaos God of blood, skulls, even more blood, even more skulls, war, violence, but also honour and glory. Generally hates Slaanesh, because Slaanesh is too weak for Khorne.
Tzeentch: Chaos God of change, magic, trickery, deception, and whatnot. Is generally known by most as the Internet Troll. Hates Nurgle, because Nurgle tends to be stagnant, instead of changing.
Nurgle: Chaos God of disease, rot, death, entropy, and everything nasty. Tends to be a rather fatherly character to his minions. Hates Tzeentch, because Nurgle prefers stagnation to change.
Slaanesh: Chaos God of pleasure, drugs, sex, but also pain, torture, and is the reason why the Eldar are so weak now. Hates Khorne, because he's too violent.
Malal/Malice: Chaos God of anarchy. Is currently retconned in the storyline (fluff).
Things don't get worse, do they? They do. The 4 (not including Malice) Chaos Gods all have minions known as Daemons. Each Daemon from each Chaos God looks different, and tend to have the personalities of their patron god.I said earlier that the Chaos Gods don't actually exist in the Material Universe. But they do exist. So where do they exist? In an alternate dimension known as the Immaterium. The Immaterium/The Warp is a dimension where the laws of Space and Time do not correspond to the Material Universe. One person may experience decades go by in the blink of an eye, while the others may feel a blink of an eye go by in decades. The Immaterium's makeup is all out of the emotional energy of all sentient beings in the Materium/Material Universe. It's also the source of all psychic energy (more on that later).So, we're not done with the factions. There's still one more. They're the Chaos Space Marines, Space Marines corrupted by the Chaos Gods. That's really it.Now, what's a Psyker? A Psyker is a being born with a mutation that makes their mind more attuned with the Warp. This means that, with training, they can harness the power of the Warp. However, it also means that Daemons will try to use them to enter the Materium.

Now you know what Warhammer 40,000 basically is, what will the mod add? It will add:
Mobs! Yes, of course it will add mobs. The whole point of the mod is that the Warhammer 40,000 universe's war has arrived at Minecraftia and you have to join forces with one of the factions to help fend off the war.
The Mobs will be from all factions, with updates adding mobs, blocks, items, and whatnot for each specific faction.
Items! The items in this mod will generally be weapons and armour, and each weapon will not follow how Minecraft's weapons system works. Instead, they will follow the Warhammer 40,000 weapons system, which means that each weapon will boost your attack damage and also will have something called an AP (Armour Piercing). The lower the AP, the better the weapon can pierce through armour. Also, some types of armour will require you to be from a specific faction to use them, though this does not apply to weapons. Some armours will give you permanent Water Breathing, strength boosts, jump boosts, and lots of other things. But some will give you slowness in exchange for better armouring.
Blocks! The blocks added will mainly be decorational, but some will be functional.
The Team
Now, here's the problem: the team only consists of me, who's just started learning to code. This mod will be huuuuuuuuuuuuuge. Hundreds of mobs, items, and blocks. But I don't have any extra coders, texturers, or modellers. If you have any of these skills and would like to join the team contact me on Skype at deathwinghq.
Modpack Related You are free to add this mod in your modpack, public or private.
NOTICE: This mod will NOT update to 1.7.X. Reason being that it will be ridiculously hard and it will be better to update to 1.8, considering it's got another code overhaul. So don't pester me on 1.7.X.

I'm an old-timer, been around since Alpha. MC: Windows 10 edition is like the uncanny valley, almost modern Minecraft but off in every way.
I have an XBox tag, but only because I needed one to try the Windows 10 version. I don't have an XBox.
I'm not one for end of the world things mostly, but this sounds really well thought out!
1: If you stay on 1.6, I may go ahead and include it in my public pack (this should go swimmingly with Cliffie's Goos ending the world as well. Hehe)
2: You need a good license! I recommend the GPL for this, alongside putting it on Github (I could even help out with issues/Pull requests!)
3: I probably won't be able to add you on skype, but if you open source it I will still give advice on github/maybe even a few Pull Requests with updates.
This mod definitely won't be released anytime soon. It's a huge mod and I need more people to join the team, because at the moment I'm the only team member and I'm just learning how to code.

Boltguns/Heavy Bolters/Bolt Pistols
Power Swords/Axes/Maces/Lances
Power Armour
Terminator Armour
Plasma Cannons/Guns/Pistols
That's the basic list. There's lots more, of course, but I'll do that later. As you can see it's mainly Space Marine stuff, but that's going to be what's in the first alpha release, so that's that.

Just started doing some work on a few ores and blocks. Need to figure out how to add ores/ingots/blocks of ingots to the Ore Dictionary though. If anyone knows how to do so PM me.

When you're having trouble finding a tutorial, look for an open source mod that does something, and see how it's code works! Tinkers for instance adds all it's crazy ores to the ore dictionary, so you can look at that for an idea on how to add stuff.

Thanks for the tip, I will look at the src code for Tinker's Construct to find out how to add things to the Ore Dictionary.
I do know how you feel, I noticed Cliffie's Goos sinking down through the lists very quickly- it's a miracle anyone ever even noticed it. :/
Anyway, be patient, bump when absolutely necessary, and remember to keep an eye on the rules!
OK. Anyways, I need a bit of help with coding the Boltgun. Currently made the actual item, but having problems with making it shoot. Could someone help me with this?

Take a look at ItemBow for inspiration.
You will probably also need a custom projectile entity for the gunshots, assuming you want a custom texture, and so on. You should skip that for now, and focus on making the gun it's self.
