"The year 2019 is a brutal year indeed. The earth, ravaged by infection, war and pollution has left our world unrecognizable..forgotten. What's left of us, sift through the rubble, searching for any remnants of our long lost civilization. Can you survive the wastes? Or will you succumb to the harsh reality of what you used to call home.
Objective:
To automatially play custom voice overs(sounds) via resource pack by activating command blocks with buttons and/or pressure plates.
---------------------------------------------------
For those of you who have played BioShock, the player comes across audio tapes left behind by past game characters, detailing events of the game or their lives. It would be awesome to implement this same effect in my upcoming adventure map. I want to either allow the player to find audio tapes(adding discs if possible) and/or simply press a button/step on a pressure plate to play custom voice overs I'll be providing in the resource pack.
I'll admit, I'm not that redstone savvy but anyone who can help me, it would be greatly appreciated.
Also for anyone who'd like to lend a voice or two in this map, please let me know. Always looking for talent.
Alright. The content you want to add must replace vanilla minecraft sounds. You will need a base resource pack (google it) and then you'll need to find out where to put the sound. IT MUST BE THE SAME NAME AND FILE TYPE AS THE ORIGINAL FILE. OTHER FILES WILL NOT PLAY IN COMMAND BLOCKS.
Now for the command block part:
If you're using records, then there is no need for command blocks unless you want to implement the discovery with text. To do that simply place a redstone comparator facing away from the jukebox and then place a command block beside the comparator with the following command "say (text here)"
If you're using pressure plates, you can do 2 or more things.
A: Pressure plate activates a command block with the following command: "setblock [X] [Y] [Z] minecraft:redstone_block" This sets a block at the coordinates (X, Y, Z) and that block should power another command block with the command "playsound (destination)"
B: Pressure plate activates a command block with the following command: "playsound (destination)"
The destination of the sound uses dots instead of "/" so for example:
I'm trying to play the sound that a pig makes when it dies. It is located in the folder "mob\pig\death.ogg" in order for a command block to read this, It must be typed in like so: "mob.pig.death" WITH THE DOTS!
Hope this helps! More information about command blocks and the commands it possesses can be found on the official Minecraft Wiki.

For the sake of the records method is it possible to add "more" records as well as replacing them with sound files.
---
As for the command blocks, the commands are in place, Im using the command /playsound <sounddestination> @p. If that isnt correct then Ill use the command you have setup for the pressure plate. But when I set a pressure plate on top or a button on the side and press or step on either, nothing happens.

Make sure the sound destination is correct. If that doesn't work search the wiki for the correct command orientation. I haven't used it recently.

I use a default sound "mob.ghast.spawn", and it worked upon entering the command so its correct, But as far as activating the block itself via plate/button, nothing happens. Is it a redstone issue?
You can record an audio file with your mic and then convert it to .ogg with media.io. once you have a .ogg, through it into a resource pack with it's own name, in 1.7, you can make and play your own sounds. Just do /playsound @a voice.1 or whatever you name your audio
