Video tutorial on using IrFanView to help create animated textures other than liquids/portals. I created this because every search I tried just leads to water, lava and the portal textures. Now you can also create custom textures like the "Sparkly Ores" pack - How about adding a raindrops block on the outside windows of your haunted mansion, or shadows that float over the walls! Rotating fans, make the room pulsate with oozing HD 128, 256 or 512 blood!
* Keep in mind that this is ~ A ~ tutorial, and may not be the end-all on this subject, but it does provide very useful information. Please post any specific questions you may have and I'll try to answer them :smile.gif:.
Any way to make this work if you're using a custom texture in a mod? Using Forge's infinite sprite index functionality, for example? That way someone (me) could distribute animated blocks along with a mod, that would work with any texture pack?

Learn some Java before you mod, and skip over the chapter on ModLoader, straight to MinecraftForge. It's better. Trust me.
