I like it because there's usually wool for a bed right off the bat.
Of course now there'd be actual beds as well.
But I'd probably still just steal a bed or two and then go 300 blocks away so I could set up my base and get started with the game without worrying about the villagers and zombies/drowned.
I used to always like to spawn and have my base away from villages in order to protect villagers from my dangerous presence that causes mobs to spawn. In 1.14 I spawned near a cool village and made it my home. I decided that I prefer the company of the villagers. I discovered that the thing I enjoy the most in the game is caring for my village and its inhabitants.
I like building myself up in a hostile world, so I don't like spawning near any generated structures. I'd prefer to avoid them until I'm stabilized in a world, but it never turns out that way.

If you'd like to talk with me about other games, here are a few I play.
Team Fortress 2
Borderlands series (Borderlands 2 is my favorite game, ever. TPS combat is a lot of fun and makes up for the lower-quality story, in my opinion)
Elder Scrolls series
Warframe (IGN is something like That_One_Flesh_Atronach)
Pokémon series (HGSS forever)
Rocket League
Fallout series
Left 4 Dead 2 (Boomer files always corrupt though)
SUPERHOT (SUPERHOT is the most innovative shooter I've played in years!)
Dead Rising series (Dead Rising 2 is one of my favorite games, and the 3rd was a lot of fun. 1st has poor survivor AI and the 4th is bad)
Just Cause series
Come to think of it, I mainly play fighting-based games.
If you want to challenge yourself, yes. But I love villages and villagers, if I don't spawn near any then I will go searching for one village, or igloo with villagers, or healing zombie villagers and breeding them for more villagers.

I like to have a village generate outside of world spawn, but not far. So I can build a completely unassailable village complex/iron farm inside spawn area and then move villages to it easily.
It depends on how far away the village is from the final footprint of my build area. My current base, set in a modded world based on the OpenAntics modpack (for those who care, the pack is centered around the OpenComputers mod), is a square terraced plaza of roughly 60 blocks per side that houses the gardens. Above it, a matching greenhouse pavilion straddles the gardens. Between each leg of the pavilion is a row of 16 4x4 plots of grass which currently are where I keep my flowerbeds and fruit trees. At each corner is an elevator accessing the mine complex and an entryway to a shallow underground workshop area consisting of 2 main (and weirdly-shaped) rooms, a skylit pit housing my power generation scheme (infinite passive RF generated by the processing of tree oil from spruce trees), and a long hallway running north-south lined with small, purpose-dedicated workshops meant for storage and crafting of specific things (ie, the kitchen is where I store and make food).
Anywho, as it just so happens, one of the corners of the pyramid comes within like 15 blocks of a nearby village that I thought would be sufficiently far enough away to not matter...but like in pretty much every previous world I built in it turned out I was a few blocks off in my calculations. Whoops. I don't really go into the village, and amazingly even though zombies always spawn and gather there the villagers have successfully avoided them this whole time. I think I'm going to tear down the village and rebuild a mega village completely surrounding my base, using drones to move relevant materials to strategic sites throughout to allow me to trade should I so desire.

if you ask me how many days it took to find sheep wool.
lol, it took 5 days in game. I live on a continent, and I need to travel a thousand blocks away to land on a nearby island.
I don't know, I just don't like it, maybe because I have something big to build.

I love to spawn by a village because I like villagers, and I can turn it into a castle.
