Farming for me aswell. I also like mining, and exploring just as much. My favorite thing would be the pure adventure you can get out of it.

Creator of the mods "More uses for Pumpkins" & "Mining Overhaul" (Both outdated and now just lie in the history books of the Minecraft modding industry!)
I like not dying.
This usually involves being over overcautious, and getting trapped in a trap that was meant for a mob.
Otherwise, I like building and fighting, but exploring's also good fun, especially for villages or in caves.
I love exploring caves. I never know what to expect.
Same here, although a bit of an understatement if you look at my most recent thread; those caves also aren't anything you'll ever find in vanilla because I actually modded the game to make it better for the way I mostly play (you can even try it out).
I do the basics first like farming and mining and building but later I try to automate everything like an automatic wheat farm which helps gather resources very quickly
Mining --> got lots of cobblestones --> Build fotress --> Out of cobblestone --> Delay the fotress building --> Farming --> get bored --> got to mining --> Mining --> got lots of cobblestones..... and my fabulous adventure continue..
I like to build what ever sounds interesting at the monent. Right now I'm into villager trading so I built a villager breeding cell and giant sugar cane farm.
I just love the early stages of the game. I am not wildly creative or big into redstone so I tend to play a world for a couple weeks and than scrap it and start all over again. I am hoping to stick to one some day but I can't seem to find the motivation to do so.

I agree archery provides a nice challenge to the game
I am not a big miner, I just do it for resources not one of my favorite chores

Building in survival is so much more rewarding!

TheMasterCaver's First World - possibly the most caved-out world in Minecraft history - includes world download.
TheMasterCaver's World - my own version of Minecraft largely based on my views of how the game should have evolved since 1.6.4.
Why do I still play in 1.6.4?
I agree, I love abandoned mineshafts most!
I like exploring into newly generated biomes!
