Hi!
Just started a new world - the first in a long time. I have played Minecraft on and off for many years, I think even since the days of beta. Since I have such a long experience, I wanted to set some restrictions (they also align with my real-life values). So I won't kill any animals, and try to avoid killing any mobs either as much as I can.
While still in hardcore, there should be plenty of excitement enough, even without going directly for the ultimate goals of endless farms/ender dragon and beyond. Instead I will try to balance with pursuing beautiful builds and slow exploration of my starting surroundings.
I started out in a beautiful flower biome, and my immediate idea was to build a home on a small island, inspired by an inner vision I have of a healing sanctuary.
I also was delighted to see the new addition of colored concrete, so I wanted to include those in the first build too!
Here are some pictures of the progress while building my first home
The next project is to build the mine connected to the little road that leads to the house. The entrance is just a few meters from the house. I have already dug a staircase down to level 10 where I will start making some nice halls: A main entrance hall, a smelter, a forge, mineshaft and anything else I come up with or get suggestions for!
And I found my first 4 diamonds! Woohoo
Here are a few more pictures from the inside of the house and different angles, as well as the beginning of the main hall in the mine. I really love this setting with flowers, water and some other biomes nearby! What do you think?

PMC's Pumpkin Carving Solo Contest Entry
I didn't survive long! Greed got the best of me and I died while caving a ravine shortly after the first post! If you enjoyed my build, you can see more of my creations in this creative thread: http://www.minecraftforum.net/forums/minecraft-discussion/creative-mode/2855386-new-creative-world
Tell me if you would like me to try another survival world, and I will oblige

This is why I start hardcore journals after I die. ;-)
Suggestion: try large biome or meat only.
