One time I was on my way to my nether fortress. I was building a huge netherrack bridge. One time I was sneaking around on the edge and the block I was standing on burst into flames. I fell off. Into lava.
Apparantly block updates in the nether have to be workedd on. Moral of story :do not ever bother to troll around on gravel in the Nether unless you are flying around. ._.
1) Don't ever build netherrack bridges in the Nether, ghasts will just break them in no time. Use a ghast-blast resistant material like cobble or something.
3) Don't build your bridge ON the lava, build it ABOVE the lava. And either way, Fire Resistance potions will be your friend, because lest a ghast knock you off your bridge, you've got to act fast or there goes another wonderful inventory.
I went to the top of a fortress and a blaze fireballed me, knocked me off into gravel, he threw a fireball at the gravel, and inches away from netherrack, I fall in lava.

I wonder if you would have survived the fall onto netherrack. Even if you didn't, at least you would be able to pick up your stuff after you respawn.
Spent about an hour adventuring in the Nether for a fortress, finally found it. Fought my way in and obtained some nether wart and 5 blaze rods. Seeing it as sufficient for the day and marking the location I set out on the 500 block return trip(last direction I looked for the fortress) About 3 blocks outside the fort I realized my rushed mistake and immediately got shot at by a ghast and some blazes hiding on the fort. In my blind rush to get to saftey I smacked a pigman upside the head with my sword... I had no fire resistance potions and iron armor with a diamond sword. It was a slightly infuriating Nether adventure, plus the fact I lost all my stuff
Yea, once my cousin was building a bridge in the nether with cobble stone.. Minecraft chrashed and the chunks didn't save... 'What bridge?' Asked the PC. He fell in lava

That's a little odd. The chunks didn't save, but your cousin's position over the lava saved?

Chunks are in region folders and position is in level.dat, it makes perfect sense actually!

"Sometimes, I just wanna give up, say 'I'm done with this mess' and go to bed. But you know what; you can't shrug off your responsibilities. You got to pull yourself up and meet the challenges head on. That's the only way you're gonna get ahead in life."
Minecraft [Alpha] 1.7.3 had blocks that you can use to build with.
Minecraft now has blocks that you can use to build with.
Nothing has changed in my opinion." That is all.
Didn't you use a Fire Resistance potion?
2) Don't ever build using flammable materials. Coincidentally, Netherrack burns indefinitely unprovoked.
3) Don't build your bridge ON the lava, build it ABOVE the lava. And either way, Fire Resistance potions will be your friend, because lest a ghast knock you off your bridge, you've got to act fast or there goes another wonderful inventory.
