So I'm fairly new to MC (since 1.0), and I've gotten a few friends into MC as well. I'd like to play survival together with my friends, but the servers don't interest me. I'd like to start from scratch and just have a world between us.
What's the easiest way to do this? Would one of us have to get the MC server software and literally run our own server? None of us have dedicated always-on machines, which would force us to only play together when that specific person can play also.
for a few people, just run the server when you will all (or mostly all) be on. I bought dedicated server hosting, which makes it easier. It really depends on how many people and if your computers can handle it. :smile.gif:
I've always wanted to do that myself. Except, I use the cracked version. From what I've heard, Bukkit,Hamachi,And a few others are quite famous at the point.
Get LogMeIn Hamachi (gives you an IP you can see and a channel thing for your friends to join-they'll need to know the exact name and password of the channel)
After you've made that, make a folder (you can put in in your documents, your .minecraft, or a game folder. Wherever, it doesn't really matter, just make a folder.) and put the Minecraft_server.exe in there and then run it. It'll make a world for you.
Make a server on Minecraft-name it whatever, it doesn't have to be the same as the Hamachi name.
Run the server again, from that folder and keep it running with Minecraft. Join your world and then have your friends join using that IP from Hamachi.
That's how me and my best friend lag together ^^
PS,
Hamachi and the minecraft_server are both free. Hamachi you can google, and the mc server one you get from the official MC site.
