I've been struggling for 2weeks now and cant find the solution anywhere so I've decided to post this. I know where the files should be Library>Application Support. I've even searched "Minecraft" in my search bar in the top right of my screen. What happens is when i download the .zip file from Minecraft.net i click it and it creates a new folder right next to it called "minecraft", inside it has the icon to run the program and nothing else. When i run it, it opens and closes instantly. I search for the files and it never automatically created the minecraft folder in Application Support. Is there a way to manually download that folder or find out why when I click the .zip file it creates a folder with minecraft icon in it and nothing else?
1) drag the .app to your applications folder like you would do with any other application
2) make sure you have write access to your Application Support folder
the path is ~/Library/Application Support
~ is the symbol for your home directory. (eg. your account name)
Do not go straight from the root /Library, as that is not where application data for your user account will be stored
EDIT: also, since it is simply a zipped .app and not a .dmg, the archiver is normal. There should only be the launcher inside since the launcher is what builds the ~/Library/Application Support/minecraft document structure when it is ran properly.
so i dragged the icon from the folder that has minecraft in it to my applications. it did that but nothing else has happened. and it didnt make the folder inside the ~Library>Application Support
