Today (9/12/15) Minecraft updated on my Xbox 360 and now there's major problems with the game. Every time I select Play Game the game reverts to a version of itself that was implemented almost 2 years ago. It does this no matter which storage device I choose. And then there are HUGE gameplay issues: the camera analog stick (the one on the right) and the directional pad don't work, I can't swim up, and on one saved game I loaded I couldn't move at all. It also oddly drops all audio and gamma to zero. I've tried restarting the Xbox. I'm afraid to uninstall it; it might make me purchase it again to re-download it.
My son is having the exact same proplem. I have contacted customer support at xbox. I deleted all files of the game and all profiles. I have cleared all caches and reinstalled my disc on xbox. Was prompted to update. When I updated everything was still the same as before I did all of this. No right stick function, world's seem darker, even during daylight.
2) Using the Xbox main dashboard "settings" tab, back up any Minecraft game save files you want to keep to the USB drive by going to "Settings" - "System" - "Storage" = "Hard Drive" (if that is where you've been storing your game saves) = "Games and Apps" = "Minecraft" = you should see the "Saved Game" files listed and you can select them individually copy to the USB. NOTE: You will have to be signed in as the profile listed on the right below the file size in order to copy the files across to the USB.
(NOTE: You should do this regularly and at least before each update to protect your files from corruption or loss.)
3) Launch Minecraft using whatever profile(s) that are experiencing difficulties with the controls (e.g. right stick not working, etc.) BEFORE launch any world, go into "Help & Options" - "Settings" - "Reset to Defaults." (This should get rid of the controller issues for the profile you have signed in with. You may have to repeat the process signing in with each profile that has been affected.)
4) Now select "Play Game" and be sure to select the "Hard Drive" (or Cloud), but not the Memory Unit where your backup saves are now. BEFORE BEFORE launching any saved game, CREATE a new world and/or new tutorial world and use it to check to make sure that the update has downloaded completely and is functioning correctly. If not, redownload the update at this point. (NEVER attempt to open any existing world without first confirming that the update is working correctly as opening a world with an incomplete update will corrupt the file.)
Contacting Mojang will not help with the issue as they do not program the console edition. 4J Studios does, but I don't know of any means to contact them directly. They do sometimes read the bugs thread and respond on it, but to the best of my knowledge they have not responded to anyone on this particular issue here.
I have no idea what is going on! I have been trying to fix my minecraft on the Xbox360. Once I click play the game gets dark even in daylight! I can't move sideways I can't turn I can't walk backwards I can ONLY WALK STRAIGHT! It's annoying!!!! Someone help! I have gone to gamestop , gotten a new minecraft disk, talked to a Microsoft agent that GameStop told me to call, still nothing. 😞 Worst of all... MY WORLDS ALL DELETED!!! Ugh it took me 2 years to finally finish my minecraft and now it's gone. But my other games seem to work so I don't know what's wrong with it. If someone has had trouble similar to mine plzzzz respond.
OMG have similar problem! It used to drop down to zero gamma ray and the controls were different and I could not move. I fixed this by going on one of my worlds that still loaded and changed gamma ray and controls to normal. I did not scroll to see if there were any answers but here is what I got.
You really don't have to do that because all you have to do is go on the MC home screen and click " help & options " then click " settings " and click " reset to defaults " and my Xbox was back to normal!
I went to play an old world where I had two librarians boxed off because I wanted to be able to find them easily, because of the books that they sell. After this update, they now sell different books than what they did before.
I just got my Xbox last week and MC was still on it from the previous owner along with a bunch of other games. Well yesterday it said MC needed an update do i hit yes and it started, about a minute later it froze, nothing would work. It stayed like that for about 5 mins. So I turned the box off, hoping that would solve it.
Well now it erased all our worlds, reverted the menu to an older version, we can't switch to creative mode and most of the creatures at entirely pixely. I have tried clearing the cache and unplugging (when it is off) but nothing is working.
I'm afraid if I delete it, it will make me pay for it since it cam on the Xbox. HELP!!!
I tried that several times. I went to help & options > settings > reset to defaults but nothing really happened. I tried to load 1/2 of my game worlds but one freezes on the load screen and the other loads ok but it goes into some stupid area which is not mine

Try the following:
1) If you don't already have a USB stick for use with the Xbox, format one (instructions are here: http://support.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-360/accessories/usb-flash-drive-faq)
It probably isn't Mojang's fault. Isn't 4J the people who ported the game to the consoles from the original PC version?

Me. Same situation. When you go on your world is it a totally different one because that's how mine is and I am also very concerned about my world.
How do you know if a world is corrupt… 😁

Since the update (latest as of this post of mine) has any one experienced a frame rate chug that occurs roughly every 10 secs?
I deleted cache, deleted game, update, and even system settings save. No Fix. =(
So my son is having the same issue. Is there any fix at all?
I'm hoping so. As of now, the 360 ver runs choppy, then sometimes, clears up a bit after playing for 30min to 1hr.
I sadly had to delete several of my older seeds. As they would NEVER clear up, instead got worse...
I hope there will be a fix, because the PS3 ver, runs with out problems...
