Hello Minecraft Forum people! I have a problem that I can not find the answer to. I have looked and looked for about 3 months but nothing has worked. Whenever I push the Realms button on Minecraft, I get a message saying something like "pkix path building failed sun.security.provider." and Whenever I try to connect to multiplayer I get a message that says "the authentication servers are currently down for maintenance" EVERY TIME, Also, on Single player my skin doesn't show either. Please contact me back, I need to play Minecraft Multiplayer again
Disclaimer: I'm no expert - I just used Google & try to make sense of what I find
Onto your problems & what MAY be causing them
'pkix path building failed sun.security.provider'
Google results seem to point towards 'JAVA' and non-existent 'SSL certificates'.
If I'm understanding what I've read - these certificates are stored in 'jre/lib/security/cacerts'.
Have you deleted anything from the Java folder at any time ??
Unfortunately I have no idea how to replace them, I would've thought a JAVA reinstall should replace them anyway
'the authentication servers are currently down for maintenance'
Looking at your log file - I can see 'Couldn't look up profile properties for com.mojang.authlib.GameProfile' & 'Cannot contact authentication server', Googling this & I see results that state that either the web address is being blocked by something (Firewall/Antivirus) or that the player ID is not 'Premium' (ie has paid for the game).
However I looked up your ID & since it shows - I can assume that you have a premium account & not a hacked client, so I would think more along the lines of the webaddress being blocked somehow
'on Single player my skin doesn't show either'
To show your skin properly you need to be signed in & recognized by the severs.
Since you're having problems with 'authentication servers are down for maintenance' I would guess this is why your skin doesn't show up
Now based on these theories, I'm guessing (& it IS just pure guessing) that it does look like possibly something is blocking your access to Mojang servers especially when using Java. The most likely culprits are usually stuff like firewalls/antivirus/security suites (Some google results I found seem to point towards Norton but other suites may also cause problems)
I assume you have such a thing installed (stupid not to nowadays), & if you do - does it have an option to temporary disable itself for a few minutes??
If it does - perhaps you could disable it for those few minutes (a bit risky I know, but as long as you don't go anywhere else you should be fairly safe) & see if you can connect.
If it is successful then we've narrowed down the problem (note that SOME security suites - even when disabled - can still block stuff)
If it doesn't log in - perhaps there some other program (windows Firewall perhaps ??) that doing the blocking somehow
