As a advanced Minecrafter, server own/configurer/mod maker/ etc. I'm truly baffled. I do not have access to my gaming desktop, as I have moved via plane and had to leave it behind for the time being.
I'm on a pretty old hunk of junk, single core @2.3Ghz, 1.5GB ram, Windows Vista. Which, I know doesn't run it well, but I'd like to piddle around in it. But the problem is, MC refuses to launch. I have done everything I have ever done in my life. Its a fresh, untouched MC. Doesn't matter what version. It will not move past the Mojang flash. I have the latest, and correct Java, I've used the new launcher, the old launcher, I've even gone back and used the old 1.7 launcher I had a copy on my flash drive of. It does not launch no matter what. What in the world else could I try? Its Windows Vista, not like I'm trying on Windows 95. 1.5GB of ram is more than enough for it to putter along. And 2.3Ghz is enough to at least run the damn menu.
Is your Java path correct? If it's calling the %java% path and not the direct path, try changing it. If that doesn't work try uninstalling all versions of java and reinstalling them. If that doesn't fix it, try using an older version of java. I've heard 1.8_u25 works the best with minecraft in terms of hardware compatibility issues.

I'll give the 1.8_u25 a try, as sadly, they are correct
This does very much sound like a crash to me, crashes come in many ways, including freezing.
So if it does not go past the mojang logo, what happens ? does it just freeze ? just closes ?
Doesn't close, I guess one could say it freezes, but it acts likes its loading indefinitely. (I've waited over night, it isn't taking a long time to load.)
But yeah, no crash log is made, so dunno.
Update: Nope, still not working. When I load into a word (freshly made) It never renders. So I'm still screwed. Oh well. Guess I'll have to wait till I get my PC shipped.

Any ideas?

Well, after fiddling with Java and the command line, I got everything below 1.7.10 to work. But 1.8+ is still a no go. I dunno.
